Cool here. Clearing and 50 so far this evening. Boys got pounded with rain last night at Scout Camp but they came through reasonably dry. Moon is out tonight.

Marty - hope your Denver trip goes well.

LAZ - big 50 coming up huh! This means Monday will be a bit of the hair of the dog eh! I assume you have most of next week off to recover! Dead [xx(]

Preparing house for carpet installers Tuesday. Having the hall and daughters bedroom carpet replaced. The hall has 7 closets on it (it is a very long hall) that I had to clean out the bottoms so new carpet can be installed in them also. That was a project for most of the day today.

Happy New Year's Eve eve ya'll.

Hello All!   Bruce- It sounds like you had the 1668 Torpedo which was the only other 0-27 version Lionel had in the 30's & another fine engine in it's own right. The Pennsylvania Railroad Museum in Strasburg,Pa should have some info on the real Pennsylvania Torpedo & they are also online. If you call or e-mail them, they should be able to help you out. I'm sure they've no info on Corvair's though!Wink [;)]Smile [:)]Clown [:o)]Tongue [:P] BTW- & I never knew this when I was younger. However, my father was at the 1939 World's Fair in Queens,NY & the reason I know this now is that I saw a Photo of him as a teenager with his older sister & brother at my Aunt's House a few years ago. Do not know what became of the photo? Anyway, The real Pa Torpedo was also at the World's Fair on a Static Display if that is what you want to call it & I believe that is where my father decided to buy a 1688 set for himself at Christmas time that year & my Brother now has that Train.  My Father never talked much about his youth when we were younger. As we got older every now & then he would share something about his youth. Not much though & we never knew what to ask him as well which I regret at times since I'm sure lots of interesting family history went with him as well. You live & learn I guess. Take Care all.

Well here I sit in Denver inside a 53ft truck waiting to go to the hotel.  The weather was beautiful if not a bit cold here.  Seems the blizzard is sitting right above the trucks that got stopped trying to get here.  Go figure.  It has not been too bad of a day just not home.  Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Good evening all,

It was another nice day in SE Indiana with temps in the 50s again.  Took almost 45 minutes to take down and pcak up all the train stuff from the museum.  We did not have very many visitors, but my daughter's family and my sister's family did get to see everything.  I have two five year old nieces who sat and watched the standard gauge run for about 20 minutes.  Their parents were amazed at how fascinated they were.  My wife had a nice "linner" for everybody afterward.  It was a very nice day.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training (especially the Corvair fans),

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a mild and cloudy 45 degrees. Going up to 60 today with some rain.

Well, this is the last day of the year. And the last day of this Thread. I guess we are suppose to start a new one tomorrow. Chief's  job.

Today is mainly relaxing. I plan on running trains, this afternoon. Maybe even a little work on the layout . They say that whatever you are doing on New Year's Eve,.....you will be doing for the entire New Year. Running trains is good.

I plan on staying up late tonite. Midnight is late for me. I figure there will be a lot of activity on the Coffee Pot tonite and I don't want to miss it.

Here's the Dining Car. All aboard for breakfast.

Y'all have a great New Year's Eve Day.

Happy New Years Eve from a dark and rainy Crystal Lake where I'm not working a church service for the first time in months. I get to go to the service for once. The bride doesn't know what to do with me in the way so I'm helping her by staying out of it. She has cooked enough food to feed an army - actually the volunteers and backstage people at church. Guess I get to bring it over but not eat any of it! Hope to run some trains later this afternoon - if I don't get sucked into planning for the bride's New Years gathering tonight - 'just a few people over' seems to turn into a big to-do. Well, she does do good parties. Glad to hear you made it safely Marty. Sorry to hear about your wife's loss, Buckeye. Almost done with this thread. Hope the Chief can stay up long enough

Morning all.  Partly cloudy and chance of a sprinkle or two.  Was suppose to be raining.  Rain tomorrow. [???]  Hope everyone has a safe and happy New Years Eve.   Pam has a bug so she is sleeping.  Hope to do some more layout building but not sure as she is not feeling well.  Suppose to go to dinner with some friends.  Later

All please be careful out there tonight, there will be impaired drivers, and what do you say that none of us will be in the impaired drives category.

Prayers for you wife and family Buckey.  Thanks for the note.

Happy New Year All.  Woke up this A.M. with a better outlook.  Things look smooth on the front so I guess it could be worse.  I'll get home tomorrow afternoon and have some dinner with the family.  Hoping to get the Polar Express upgraded with the mini cruise by Electric RR.  I was going to do it yesterday but we all know how that goes.  I'm trying to go tetherless so I also got a mini commander for the whistle.  I just need to find a good connection for the antenna on the engine.  I read somewhere that the handles are isolated but getting a connection to them is a bear.  I'll see what I can come up with.

Once again Happy New Years and STAY SAFE!

HI GIZ,

Thanks for the BDAY wishes?  Some days I feel the age but most are pretty good.

ROY, No got to go to school on Tuesday, maybe with a BIG HEAD?  Probably not?

BUCKEYE sorry for your lose.

Went out with the flintlock yesterday, NO DEER yet.  Sat in the woods in my small game wear and no jacket.  Was about 53 here yesterday, no wind and just a nice day to be in the woods.  Really quite and enjoyed the day, no deer but maybe next weekend?

All have a safe and HAPPY NEW YEAR>

Good afternoon all and Happy New Year's Eve!

So - when does New Years's Coffe Pot thread actually start! EST, CST, MST, or PST???? Do we wait long enough for Doug's notta Grump to have a final post? Can the Chief stay up until 3 am EST to make the last post? The suspense is agonizing!

In reality since the Chief will fall asleep at about 10 pm EST with  bowl of popcorn in his lap and visions of trains running on real layout tables, we may have to get creative! Inquistive minds what to know!

Buckeye - sorry for your family's loss.

LAZ - Ouch! Big Head Tuesday - a day not to remember! Banged Head [banghead]

Will try to check in tonight, but just in case - Happy New Year to you guys!

Morning guys - got distracted when I tried to type as the dog nearly puked on my wife!  Glad she was fast and got Chewy to the kitchen just in time (vinyl flooring)!

Happy Birthday Laz - glad you liked the "card" I emailed to you.  Marty - glad to hear things are looking up - it stinks when work steals your day off.  Buckeye, sorry for your loss.

Going over to a friends this afternoon for dinner and fun.  I think it will be Dave and John and me and our families.  The ladies are going to do crapbooking while us guys watch movies in the basement or run around with the kids.  Anyway, Happy New Year and see you all in the 2nd Pot of Coffee once Chief puts it on the stove.

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Hello All!   & A Happy New Year to everyone hereSmile [:)] I was looking on the other Forum & found out that Lionel has shipped out the 269E Set & that it is also conventional to boot!( Mechanical E-unit & 3 pole open Frame Motor) It does have the Trainsounds as well & the Colors on the Engine should resemble the original's very well. I'll be very happy when mine shows up at the Trading Post as it is paid for & according to the information I read the Box for the 269E reads: "Prewar Celebration Series" Sounds like more good things to come in terms of prewar tinplate from Lionel. If they come out with a 1688 set you can guess who will buy the first one!Wink [;)]Smile [:)] I will pass on this info I started about the 269E a couple of days ago. Take Care Guys & will talk with you on the new Pot of Coffee.ByeSmile [:)]Thumbs Up [tup]

Happy New Year All !!!   BE SAFE

Laz - Don't worry about 50, it OK, everything after that is what can be a problem, but the alternative isn't very good either.

Chief - I will be checking tonight, so you got to stay up!  All that responsibility closing down the old and opening the new!!  Heavy burden......   Good time to work on the layout.

(Is the forum based upon GMT?  or PST? (heh, heh, heh)  I'll wait up and report on whether or not the transition occurs on time.     Does Roseyville have a New Year's Parade or any other functions?

Hope the counts move forward, hate to see that get lost.

Does this wiring diagram look right?

Can you read it?  Maybe of this location  http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b6cc10b3127cce80684312a49d00000016100EZOWbRmyYsU

If so trying to integrate a fixed MTH power supply to the TIU, seems I am giving the ZW headaches when I do this.

Possibly the DCS ground wire not connected to the correct location?

John mentioned something about "continuous" mode.  Not sure what that is reffering to.

ZW, TIU, or that Power Supply?

I'm checking all the documentation I can find.

Thanks

(Wondering ..... How many pages will the pot end with?)

Don,

Guess I used the wrong term.  The four channel of the TIU can be either fixed or variable.  They come from the factory with two of each, but all can be set to fixed or all to variable.  That is what I was refering to.  I am using two TIUs, two channels of one are fed from a post war ZW and the other two channels from a Z-4000.  The second TIU is only used for one channel and that is feed from a Lionel Brick.  All are set to fixed as I run very little conventional.  If I do I can use the throtles on the ZW or Z-4000.  Your diagram cam out a little small for my eyes, I am going to try to print it out bigger, if I don't lose to much resolution to read it, I will check it out.  (Added)  I also use the auxilary power supply to feed the TIU.  If you don't do that and you cut off the power to channel one for any reason, it kills the whole TIU.

Good afternoon all,

This will probably be may last post for the year.  We have friends coming over starting at 6:00 so will be busy for the rest of the year. Smile [:)]

Laz

Happy 50th birthday.  Happy B-Day [bday]        Happy B-Day [bday]        Happy B-Day [bday].  At least you get your birthday off from work.  Are you going to spend it deer hunting?

Buckeye,  My condolences on your family's loss.

On the train front, I am working on detailing my Armor flat car loads, blocking, chains, etc.

See you all on the NEW coffee pot.

Hope everyone has a safe and happy new year's eve. We're having a little get together for some friends of our kids - mostly watching videos and eating. Too rainy for fireworks this year. Son's girlfriend's dad is bringing over a few trains to run on my Christmas layout. (Good thing I didn't get to take it down yesterday after all! ) Hope he brings his circa 1954 Santa Fe F-3s to run.
