They're testing the fire alarms. 0900 GMT
+7 and a bright sunny morning here in Stockport.
Just got confirmation of 27 issues for CTT. As an O gauge layout is out of the question for me, I'm hoping to find space for a collection and am on the lokout for some one or a club with a system I can maybe use to run my stock.
Gave up trying to post photo's, despite all the good advice from you chaps, I just can't get my head round it.
Start Physio this morning, should be fun!

Good morning from Gettysburg.  Currently it is 36 with high today to be about 46.

Ran some trains last night.  Really need to do some cleaning on the layout.  Last time I tried to clean and run trains the 2025 hit the deck.  I also ran the RMT Beep for a while.  Yesterday I went to a local train show at the Carroll County, MD Ag Center.  I was able to find the parts I needed to  make the final repairs to the 2025.  Hope to finish that up over the weekend.

LAZ - you sure are having a hard time getting those photos to post with the new computer.  I read somewhere on the forum here where there were some settings you had to change to get IE 7 to work properly.  You may want to look around.  Your layout is really coming along since the tear down and rebuild.  I loved that pair of double-headed Mohawks.  Bet the smoke is so thick you could set off the smoke detectors.  Glad to see your Millersburg Indians advanced in the playoffs.

Dr. John - glad to hear that you and the chairperson of the board came to an amicable agreement on the right of way for the Christmas layout.  It's nice when the President and the Board of Directors can come to a compromise and there is no labor unrest such as a strike or other work stoppage. Glad you didn't have to bring in the NLRB or some other mediator to figure out the trackage right of way. Big Smile [:D] Be sure to post some Photos.

Well, today is a long day at work. We have parent conferences until 7:30 tonight.  I have another meeting from 8:00 AM until 11:00.  No trains tonight.  Short work week this week though, only two days.  I guess I can suffer through two days this week.

Take care,

Mitch

Checking in from the Northland.

Laz: Nice layout photos. The city center looks great!

Jim: What is going on with the Rams this year?

Roy: Not a day to be fishing in Alaska -25°F tonight. We have not seen temps above 12° below since October 31. Good string of cool weatherfor Nov.

Who thinks Michigan will be there at the Big Dance with Ohio St. for the BCS title? (just trying to stir the pot.)

Good morning everyone.

A very full weekend to write about today. First off, congratulations to all my Buckeye friends! We watched the game, which was a great one.

I attended the train show and had a ball! I saw a lot of very nice. high quality locomotives for reasonable prices. I saw a nice 520 that made me think of Doug M. I saw a whole Torpedo set with tinplate cars ($150) that made me think of Keith. I saw a gorgeous 2065 for $170 that made me think of the Chief. The 2065 and a few incredible post war Berks really tempted me, but I help back and just enjoyed the show. I did pick up the correct tender for our 2037. I also snagged a bunch of OGRs for a buck each.

Here's a funny story. We were driving to my wife's sister's house for Sunday dinner and had to pass through a very rough neighborhood in a very rough city so that my boys could see a train yard. We're driving along, hoping not to get car jacked, when I spot a yard sale sign in front of this dilapidated looking house. What's on the table? A post war Lionel loco and tender. I made a U-turn and got out. Three guys were there. All had black sweat shirts with the hoods over their heads. My wife was hysterical. "Don't get out of the car!!!" I walked over and asked how much for the train. "$60" one of the men grunted. "It's worth $100". It was a very rough 2026 with a non wistling tender. I said, "$60?! It doesn't even have a whistle! The biggest of the crackheads said, "It has a bell" and pointed to the one mounted on the boiler. I said good luck and headed towards the car. My wife had locked all the doors and would not unlock them to let me back in! Finally she did. We made it to dinner on time and with all of our wallets and internal organs.

Saturday night we hosted a family get together after a church service. There were some 30 people of all ages at my home and all of them wanted to see the trains run. So there we were, 30 people in my basement. Watching the trains run around the layout. As I looked around, I noticed that every single face had a smile on it. Every single face! The next day, I saw three of those faces at the train show and they had bought trains based on what they saw in our basement the night before!

Oh yeah, the Patriots whooped the Packers 35 - 0.

All in all, it was a really nice weekend.

Jim

Good Morning from Blueberryhill...

It is a cold 34 degrees. Sunny. Going up to 44 today. No rain. That is not too bad. Looks like it snowed a little last night.

Today is full of errands and chores. Have to run into town for a few things. Next weekend I will be putting up the Christmas lights on the 10 trees outside. Then the new lawn decoration train set. It ought to look great when done.

Well ,  Dining Car just arrived. Breakfast. See ya later.

Y'all have a great Monday.

Good morning,

It is cloudy with a temp of 39 at 6:00 AM.  Haven't checked the temp since, but doubt if it has changed much.

Hope everyone had a nice weekend and that your team won.

Gil, Is that lumber yard built in HO scale?

Posting pictures on the forum is sort of a challange, as it seems to change with the seasons.  Sometime one thing will work and other times you need to do it differently.  I have been using Shutterfly to host my pics and recently have noticed that at times it is dreadfully slow.  I guess they need to up their server power.  Just hope they don't stop the free hosting.  I shouldn't complain as what I buy from them surely doesn't pay the cost of hosting my pics.

Will be leaving shortly for a flu shoot apointment and then on to the fitness center.  The late start will make for a short day.

Good morning from a cold and sunny Chicago where there was a trace of snow on the ground before the sun rose.

Great Photos, Laz. Thanks for posting them, Roy. I love the ball field and the Old MILW brewery. I have to get a close-up of that. I'm assuming you used the Woodland Scenics figures for the ball teams, right, Laz?

Jim, oooh, I love my 520. Especially with the replacement pantograph I finally figured out how to mount. Havent' fixed the wiring I messed up last week. Have to trouble-shoot our cordless phones being all static-y (for months). I think it is wireless interference. Next Sunday afternoon: the Bears versus Pats. Should be a great game.

Good morning all,

It is sunny and cold in SE Indiana with temps heading to the 40s today.  We got a little bit of snow last night.  We watched "Desperate Housewives", the end of the NASCAR race, and a little bit of the Colts game.  That last 20 laps of the NASCAR race lasted an hour!?!?  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Forgot to mention I ran across a unique crossing guard at the end of the UP yard tracks that are actually crossed by an entrance into a strip mall in my hometown. The cross flasher not only has red lights in the traditional both-directions but also four additional angles to cover a bike path also crossing the tracks.. Imagine a single pole with six flashing red lights seemingly facing in all directions. There's a prototype for everything. The UP just dumped piles of new white rock ballast along the yard ROW - not the usually 'Pink Lady' used by the C&NW.

HI GIZ,

First day of bear season today here in Pa.  Not Chicago Bears.  37 and cold here.

Ran trains last nite for an hour no pile ups just a little dirty track problem that my Williams SD90 were acting sluggish and a good wipe down with denatured alcohol did the trick.  They ran great then.

Thanks GIZ for the kudos in the layout.  I want to hook up more lites maybe next week?

DOUG M. yes the figures are from scenic express, got them over the summer they had a sale on em.

All have agood one.

BEARS win!!!! Beat the Jets wasn't pretty but they did win 9-1.

Spent a significant amount of time sorting yesterday, AND watching the race.  Then got sidetracked, I came across this guy at a computer show that was selling this adaptor box for $40, what it does is connects to a USB port and then has an audio input.  The audio input can be connected to either a record player, cassette player, or any other audio source.  Then it has a couple of wizards, and you record the music into the computer and subsequently burn it on a CD, or even enter into an iPod.  Works pretty good, took awhile but I was able to get the music copied.  With all the old cassettes and records this can be great while working in the train room, reformatting all the old music.  In addition, during the process there is enough audio controls where it also filters out tape his and scratches from records.  If anyone interested I will post more information.
(Picking up a similiar unit for VHS duplication to DVD at the next show in December.)

Train music will now be subtly playing in the background, or on some of the DCS engines.

Morning all!

Cool and sunny here. 60's for today. Provides some balance to Kevin's weather report!

Prepping for Thanksgiving.

Mike C. I don't know about you and the others, but I have become somewhat bored with most of the last NASCAR races ending in a green-yellow 2 lap dash. It is becoming like basketball. No reason to run the whole race. Just the last two laps. I also agree with the drivers comments that all these 500 mile races are a bit much. Too much stress on the motors. Go back to 300/350 miles and let them run!

Laz - It took a while to edit your photo post and I used the [IMG.]  [/IMG.] command (delete the periods I inserted). This is not a drag and drop operation. You have to copy the path to the photos and paste it between the img commands.

Nice post by Dave on John's layout and home. Nice place you have there John!

Have a great day all!

Regards, Roy

It is sunny bright outside today, but it is chilly.

What a great weekend in Buckeyeland.  Our economy is sure to improve which only means one thing, I will be able to purchase more trains. Big Smile [:D]

I did have some time to work on and run the trains.  Also, won a new car on eBay for the garden circus train.  You will see it in the spring, but it has taken me about three years to find it at a price I would pay.   New brick arrived today.

As to Michigan,.....ONE and DONE.  No more chances to be No. 1 this year.  I personally would love to see ND and OSU so that I can take a wad of money from Doug.

See ya down the tracks.

Noon all.  Been completing my reports and photos and sending to Pro Mariner.  Did stop twice to drink coffee and watch elk hunting on TV.   Plan on working in train room until wife gets here.  She is at her younger sister's.  Seems her Britney [not Spears], or one of those names, is having puppies.  All have to gather and see. Shock [:O]Question [?]  Rumor has it I am suppose to get one of them.  ME????Shock [:O]Confused [%-)]

John, my Shutterfly is downloading great.  Must be they cater to REBS and not Yanks. Wink [;)]  Gang, as far as picture posting, I go to Shutterfly and right click, copy, go to CTT, right click and paste.  There they are.

Jim A, you are suppose to buy your COKE in a bottle and not in powder form from a guy in the hood with Yard Sale sign.  Disapprove [V]

Was going to buy Buckeye a Cabela's cap but, after the game Saturday, they did not have a size large enough.

Just got wonderful news from my wife. She said the TV (Sony) just died. Sound but no picture. I guess we will be going shopping for a new one this weekend. Good thing I didn't go crazy at the train show this weekend! The set is only 8 years old. I've always had great luck with Sony equipment and the other one we have is 20 years old.

Looks like I won't be able to buy that 736 Berk, Chief. You might as well have it . . . Black Eye [B)]Sad [:(]

Don,
Can you enlighten me about the analogue/digital adapter please?
It sounds just the bit of kit I am looking for. I want to put some sounds from a C & T tape onto disc and keep it in my car for when I come across a bone head with a boom box in the next jam. I can give him a dose of K38s at full belt (I shall be wearing ear defenders).

Just read a few of the posts from yesterday, but I'm in a hurry - going to the doctor.  Can't hear out of the left side this morning and the right ear is going plus headache and ear hurts a lot - hopefully get some good drugs or something.  Hate to be sick for Thanksgiving!

Sorry, don't follow the St. Louis Rams.  The last St. Louis football game I watched was about 30 years ago.

More later

The final score for the OSU-Michigan game was 42-39.

Ten minutes after the game ended, the Ohio Lottery Pick Four Numbers were 4-2-3-9 .

Just another isolated incident  ??????????????????????

Three days without the computer, seemed like a L O N G time, software issues resolved.......... at least it wasn't operator error. Spent most of Saturday Christmas shopping and we are nearly done, the new grand daughter is the big winner. As we were walking through Best Buy I mentioned that a new TV would be nice since ours is 10 years old and both of our sons have bigger and better TV's than their old Dad, my wife informed me "that's not going to happen" I've got to figure out a way that the grand daughter would certainly benefit from a bigger TV when she comes to visit.

Since the computer was down we ran lots of trains Friday night, shopping/football on Sat. and yesterday was the Jolly Holiday Lights tour for the Make A Wish foundation. They set aside the first Sunday night for bikes, walkers and joggers, nothing like a nice 9 mile bike ride at 26 degrees! It's a route through a city owned park, several hundred acres. Seriously, it's great fun and spectacular and most of the bikes get decorated with all kinds of lights. We've done that ride for years, wouldn't miss it unless it's snowing or raining--great cause. Ran the heater full blast all the way home.

A beautiful week of weather here in the great mid west, temps in the 50's-60's every day and no chance of precip, YEA!

Turns out I'm impacted in the head.  Now, many of you would have immediately leaped to a conclusion, especially those who know me better than others.  But, it's just WAX!  Nurse Practitioner tried to blow it out with a Water PICK!  After about the 3rd try, she told me to put drops in both ears for a week or so and then come back.  Now, I can hear a little on the right and a little on the left, but my left ear hurts like crazy and it sounds like a freight train is running through my head.  Great day.

One more day and then I'm off until next Monday!  Lost all my ebay bids again - oh well.  One of these days I'll win one of these sawmills!

Good evening,

Model train lover,  Not that I remember, although I didn’t get into trains until high school, before that it was all model airplanes. Of course that was 50+ years ago and things have changed quite a bit since then.

Laz,  I forgot to mention the nice pictures on my previous post. Great job. BTW that T-1 you saw at Barry’s must have been the one that was returned due to the white rims.

Don,  I am interested in the black box for recording from an audio source to CD. I usually try to get to a computer show or two each Winter, although we don’t seem to have as many in our area as we did at one time.

ModelTrainLover,

Having graduated high school in 2005, I can tell you that I was also teased for this.  But, it was not really a suprise considering the suspects.  They were the type that got suspended the day they returned from a previous suspension, the type who always bragged about drinking and taking drugs among other things.  They somehow thought that I was wrong because of my hobby.  If this is wrong, I don't want to be right.  If I was "right" like them, I don't think I would have too long to live, considering the choices they made.  In short, don't let them bother you.  You should be proud of the fact that you are staying away from many things that could kill you or have you locked up.  You should also be proud that you are part of something whose greatness they will never know.

JOHN,

You are right on the return of the T1.  MIKE told me the guy didn't like the white rims.  I think you got a real winner there.  Hope you are enjoying it.  My wife is going to go down to BARRYs this Saturday to pick up my LionMaster Cab forward.  I'll be up at my MOMs for deer season so she gets to go there and get my stuff.  Oh by the way you should be getting a flier from BARRY of his Black Friday sale.  He told me some of the stuff on sale but the one that jumps out at me is the Lionel Hot Box es are getting blown out at $50.00.  I'm asking the wife to pick one of those up for me too.  If you don't get the flier go over and see what he has.  If I get it I'll email it to you.

Have a good one.
