Angry [:(!]  Those Westboro Cultists!  I sure hope they come to their senses and stop intruding on these families.  In Missouri, there was a bill to prevent protests within a certain distance from a funeral.  Like the Cindy Sheehan bunch, they are exploiting the grief of these families for their own ends - I can't believe that God approves of this behavior.

Cold and raining here with just a rosy hint of THE CARDS WON LAST NIGHT!  I don't usually follow sports, but this is just all over the place (of course) and we did tune in for the end of the game.  About 10 minutes after my son went to bed, he came out and told us he had something in his eye.  He had rubbed it red!  We looked and couldn't find anything, but the furnace had just kicked on a few minutes earlier and I think maybe he got some dust in his eye or maybe just an eyelash?  Anyhoo - off to Walgreens for eyedrops.  Luckily there was no school again today, 'cause he was up until about 10:30.  I think he was more upset than anything.  My wife, unfortunately, started talking about his cousin who tore his retina etc and maybe we should go to the hospital - not the sort of thing a little boy wants to think about, let alone a daddy!  I examined the eye and didn't see anything abnormal, compared to the left eye, other than some irritation from the rubbing.  The drops worked and he's fine today.

Picked up The Addams Family Volume One (TV show) set yesterday - love that show!  He's running a ZW and it's fun to try and pick out the stuff on the layout - the Lionel girder bridge, crossing gates, etc.

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Dep,

No disrespect was meant in any way. I'm proud of them, too. My point was, here is another young life snuffed out senselessly in some skank country that is never going to change or become civilized. We should bring our troops home and let those people anihilate each other. Why should our brave soldier's lives be wasted over there? It makes no sense to me. And for the record, I think this war makes about as much sense as the one you were in, and it's going to have the same outcome.

Bring them home while they're still alive!

Lots of us support the TROOPS.  Those folks are not going to be little Americans.  They have been killing each other since the Bible was written.  They will keep on.   A strong dictator is what keeps them in line.  This is George W's private war.  I'm a Vet and will stand behind the troops in anything they do.  The untra-right wants to say if you don't support Geroge W. and his war, you are Anti-Chirstian, Anit-American and don't support the troops.  NOT SO.  My 2 cents [2c]SoapBox [soapbox]  Doing what those folks want to do at funeral is un-Christian. My 2 cents [2c]  Enough said on that subject.

Back from getting flu shot in Raleigh.  Had to get up at 6:30 to get my coffee and grits before going. Disapprove [V]  Then got haircut and took food to friend who had surgery two days ago.  She came home yesterday PM.  This is something else as she has just finished b r e a s t [have to spell it or software will zap] cancer treatments and surgery.  Tough on her and her husband.

The rain that was forecast for midnight, changed to 5 PM today started falling at 11AM.  Pro Mariner calling.  Got to go.

Jim: Okay....I understand now and agree 100% with you. There isn't one of those people worth any of our troop's lives. But that holds true in ANY war as far as I'm concerned. I don't want to turn this thread into a political discussion. I get too much of that stuff on TV as it is. I will say this...if Dubya had said from the outset "we are going over there to pump every last drop of oil out of that country", I would be much more sympathetic with sending our troops over there. A nice, honest, realistic, believeable and reasonable explaination instead of WMDs, spreading Democracy (HA! the US ISN'T even a Democracy), or any of those other BS explainations.

Wow! Ever since MTH came out with their new catalog it's been almost impossible to log on to their website. Must be some good stuff there. I know they have a NYC SW2 switcher which I have on my "want list". Smile [:)]

That catalog is almost painfully slow to load - on a T3 line too. Nice stuff though - especially the subways.

The heck with waiting for Christmas: I'm going to buy another Corgi Birney and one of those Bowser trucks to see if I can put it in.

Hey - my last birthday present showed up - Copper Mine docksider and caboose from a breakup.  Now I need some log dump cars, but will have to wait for next payday for my "allowance" - why can't every day be my birthday!  'Course, then I'd be over 15690 birthdays old!

Santa in Brown came to my house today too.  Brought me two 1000 gph bilge pumps from Mayfair for my Ranger.  Put them in one day [ones I've got are OK].  Met the rep in Indian Wells [Palm Springs] and he sent them free. Big Smile [:D]  Lots of nice folks in this world.  Wife left work early so no train running [maybe, but she wants me to watch Halloween movies with her.  Also Charlie Brown and the Great Pumpkin Patch comes on at 8 EDT].  I did put up a mini spotlight light fixture with three mini spotlights on a bar.  They can be directed in any direction.  Lightbulb came on [how do you like that one?].  Put one in the ceiling on each side of the trainroom.  Cutting holes and mounting boxes tomorrow.   Back to Lowes and pick up two more [$29 each].  Cold rain coming down pretty good.  Later

Regarding the new MTH-Railking catalog, I've never been a big MTH fan. However, I'm VERY impressed with the new SW-1 as well as the continued offering of the SW-1500, VO-1000 and RS-1. Nice paint schemes and the prices are not too bad.

I picked up a Railking SW-1500 off Ebay a year ago and really like it. It's the only semi-scale engine I have, but it has grown on me. I'm not planning on going hi-rail, but I predict one of the SW-1s and maybe an RS-1 in my future.

Well............... I screwed up the computer yesterday watching the Battle of Gettysburg, it is an interactive computer CD-Rom, it was me--operator error--I thought at first it might have been a Confederate that might have snuck north :) Glad to have it back, even if it was only 24 hours.

I'm a rider with the Patriot Guard (Freedom Riders) that attends the funerals of fallen soldiers. The cult from Kansas always threaten to show up, they won't diminish the funeral of a fallen hero, that's a fact.

Jon, thanks for that! The Patriot Guard / Freedom Riders provide a very important and honorable service to the families of fallen soldiers and law enforcement officials. We've had three police officers killed in Alabama in the past month and the Freedom Riders (many who are former police officers) always participated in the funeral processions. I know they were here for today's funeral as well.

Rainy, cold,  and dreary here in G'burg.  Helped the Mrs. do some cleaning this evening as she has company coming tomorrow.  She has very severe arthritis damage to most of her joints and gets in a lot of pain when she overdoes things. Sad [:(]  Heard from son @WVU  today, if he's not careful he might wind up with a 4.0 this semesterCool [8D].  It is so nice to see him doing well and enjoying classes.  High school was a struggle for him, he fought it and played around a lot instead of working.  Now he realizes with just a little more effort he would have been so much more successful in high school.

Tomorrow when the Mrs. has company, I will go to work for a few hours to clean up some paperwork and leave the girls to their girl talk.  When I get tired of work (or I finish) I will head to local train shop and check things out before I head home to have dinner with the company.  I had tried not to go to Local Shop before York so I would not be broke before the Meet.  Hope he has some interesting, cheap pre-war.  I had heard from a friend that there was a possibility of an expansion in the works for the space next door to the shop.

Take care.

Sounds like a nice Saturday, Mitch. Well, here I am alone on a Friday night - and why am I online instead of running trains - my bride is out with her girlfriends, the older kids are at the big playoff football game and I just put the youngest to bed. Hope the bride comes home before I told the kids I'd pick them up so I don't have to wake the 4 yr. old. That's never good. Well, off to the basement!!

Mitch, I found the WM hopper.  There for a while I thought maybe you had raided and carried it off. Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]  It was lurking in plan sight among some B&O hoppers, the wierd part is that it is tuscan and the others are black.  I must be getting color blind as well as old.

After baby sitting this morning, spent the day shopping with the wife.  We had the SUV loaded to the limit before we headed home.  Finished off with enough groceries to feed an army in anticipation of having two granddaughters for a few days.  No one ever goes hungery at grandma's house. Smile [:)]

I did manage to pick up a Lemax general store at Michael's for 30 percent off.  Not sure where I will put it, but it is nice.  Also got a couple of cans of fleckstone that Tom recomended for roads.  Will give it a try.

Weather is to be ugly for the next couple of days, then turn nice for a few, hope they are right about the last part of the forcast.

Chuck, Down here it has just been smokey and hazy, over towards the coast they even had ash coming down and that is about 100 miles from the actual fire. Three years ago we lost a NorCal fire crew who came here to help, this year we have lost four possibly five from a fairly small community of Idylwild.

Kinda wild seeing them use a DC-10 as a water drop plane, I built DC-10 fuslages when I first got out of the service. Hope it helps.

It's a B1or2, EMD's attempt to compete with the road switchers by FM GEC etc.
It was an adaptation of the F unit and was not a success.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill.

It is a damp 42 degrees, rained last night. Only going up to 49 today. And we are suppose to get more rain.

Today, we have some things to do around the house. I will run trains this afternoon, and work a little on the layout. I got the new opening in the wall plotted out. Now to cut it out and see how it looks. Should come out nice.

Baseball is over. Cardinals won. Cold ball games.

Off to the Dining Car and breakfast.

Y'all have a great Saturday.

Steve [Gil], glad to see you are posting.  Hope you are doing OK from surgery.

Good morning everyone. It is rainy and very windy here. I have been on My Yahoo for a while, looking at the Soccer section of the sports. Some very good stuff. Mike C, I am going to try to get videos of my friends and I playing soccer yesterday on youtube to share here. Full of bicycle kicks, tricks, and rainbows.

Jefelectric, maybe that hopper doesn't like you. Maybe it would like me?

Good morning, all. Rain has passed through here as well. Much cooler this AM and still overcast.

Chief, nice paint job on the SW-1500. You ought to check out the RailKing SW-1500 with the newer paint scheme of the NS. Then you can double head your switchers for transfer jobs! (I love spending other people's money for them!)

I'd put a smiley here, but the emoticons are missing from the reply box this morning!?!

Steve, that is a BL-2 made by AHM (now Roco) back in the 1970s.

Time to warm up my coffee and get another blueberry muffin while they are still warm.
