Yes we are on the East side of town, about 15 miles east of downtown Cleveland. If you look at a map, we are very close to State Rt 2 and Vine Street (state rt 640).

If need to, I could walk to Downtown Willoughby.

Hey guys, this panorama is fresh from the construction zone. After a long summer of chasing trains and doing other stuff, I am kicking it into gear again. The third peninsula, on the left of the photo, is now 18' out from the wall. A trip to the lumber yard is going to be required fairly soon. The benchwork is now about 70% done.

A little bit of track has been laid along the long wall, leading away from the helix in the corner on the right.



Here is the track plan to give you an idea of how the room is laid out. There have been some minor changes.

Thanks Daan and Tom, I'm not sure why it takes cold weather to get me in the mood to work on it. I know that part of my motivation comes from wanting to have company over.

On Friday afternoon we (Tammy and I) are invited to see someone else's layout, over on the other side of town. Unfortunately, that layout is appearently in it's last days, as it's owner is preparing to move. I hear it is a dandy, we'll take the camera.

As I've heard, "The polar express" will be in cinema in Holland too!!! That's something I like. Will go to see it for sure.

On my tracks the lack of power vanished! Today I made a temporary setup of my resistorcontrolled transformer and the cirquitbrakers.. It works fantastic! No lack of power, no slow speed or stalling engines anymore and full control from my S2 up to the F3's.. I have to fix my tracks to the table though, with the F3's running on full speed the tracks work themselves loose..
Very nice to see the homemade "see if it works" setup is acting like a top of the bill traincontrol!
My day is good now, and I hope yours is too!

It is really snowing out! I took today off to greet the water-heater-installer-man - boy, these dang things are expensive. The new issue of CTT is neat - there's always something interesting - like the review of Marx stations and the differences in 1950s Lionel motors. It's nice and quiet - I just have the 2 year old with me - wife and daughter out shopping, other son out playing with friends. Hope you have a good rest of the day.

Happy Thanksgiving from the banks of the Lehigh!!!

Yes, I am in the heart of O Scale. Most likely going to visit Steamtown in Scranton, PA on Friday. Went to Trains and Lanes near Easton, yesterday. It is amazing how many stores are in such a small area.

A big train layout show is scheduled to start on Friday. Several clubs join together and put on the show. Admission is a new toy for the TOYS of TOTS Christmas collection. Great idea!! Hear that you train club guys. (At least you have a club.)

I heard the CHIEF is going to see the POLAR EXPRESS. I'm sorry to hear that. It will take us all at least a year to explain the story to him. Speaking of CHIEF, I drove past two Cabela's stores and one Bass Pro on I-70 & I-78 heading east. Since he owns part of those stores, I would think he would have a great train layout.

SPANKY, love the pictures. You are really getting good with the animation.

The PA Tunpike toll collectors went on strike. Ran the turnpike for free!!!!

YEA! It stopped raining. We've had some heavy rains and strong winds for the past couple of days, lost power at work for a little over an hour yesterday. Early this morning the wind was still blowing pretty good but calmed down a bit once the sun came up.

I just put the bird in the oven, I hope no relation to Spanky. I think I'll go out and run trains for a bit.

Just a quick note while nobody's looking to wish a Happy Thanksgiving to all of you -from our winter wonderland - it looks like the last scenes in "A Christmas Story' where everything's covered with ice and sparkling in the sun. I am thankful for the fellowship and guidance I've enjoyed on this forum - particularly in this topic. .Whoops, I've been discovered and am being dragged off to help do something...Back for a moment - Had a nice meal with our neighbors - all quiet now - noticed the Trib crossword had another toy train reference - 'big name in small trains' ...answer 'Lionel'! We had a great dinner at my Mother-in-Law’s home. There is even enough leftovers that we can do it again tonight.

NE Ohio a light snow yesterday and it was gone by noon. Today it is cool, temp at 31 with partly cloudy skies.

We watched Garfield the Movie yesterday with our nieces. In it, Garfield’s owner had a great tin plate tube track layout. It even had a couple quick shots of the trains running.

Made it to a couple of train stores today near Scranton. More later. A quick visit to Steamtown. They need to put the U.P. Big Boy in a shelter. The paint is stained and rust is starting.

And now a sad story,
As I was looking over the display of cars in one of the stores, I heard a small boy about 6 years old tell his mom that he sure wished they had a Polar Express for sale. His Mom acknowledged his comment and they looked at other cars and trains for sale. All I can say is that Lionel really screwed up with the lack of sets. Yes, I have mine, but for us that are really into trains, we hear about new items through the forum grapevine and other sources. The general public is now going into train stores and finding nothing but disapointments. [2c]

Yes Buckeye. Polar Express not being marketed to kids is a big screw up. Halmark is doing TV and a commercial at the movie but no word of a Lionel Polar Express. I really do not think Lionel gives a D--n. If old JC was still there, they make a fortune off of it. [basiclly what I said in the post on Polar Express Movie topic]. Maybe the suit and firings is actually a good thing. Maybe new management will revitalize the company and help the hobby. [2c]

Morning gang. A First!!!! Wife is running leaf blower. Fun watching that. About time she learned how hard it is to clean the yard around her flower beds and shrubs. Did not tell her she was suppose to get extension ladder and climb on roofs and blow leaves out of eves and gutters. No way does she get to bag them with the John Deere [that would be a mess]. She is loading them on a big tarp and dragging them to the garden. I'll disk them in with the tractor later this winter. Well, being laid up has some advantages.
