Good Morning all,

It a very cool Blue Clear Sky Morning in NE Ohio, temp is 25 deg with a high of 50 today.

My neighbors must think I am nut, I finished my outside lights, so last night was the test run of the timers. We had lights – the first one no my street to have them one. I guess we will wait another week before running them, but they are ready.

The Christmas Village is just about done, see this Sunday Photo Fun. We have a second village to start on now. BTW – did I tell you all that my wife really love Christmas.

I will try calling Chief’s wife later and post on his get well card.

All be safe

A couple things this morning.

1. Tom is right, the weather here in Ohio is uncommonly nice for this time of year. It is cold, but sunny, a rare combination.

2. Picked up my daughter's Polar Express set this weekend. I have heard that the art work on the box is to be changed. The current box shows 6-wheeled trucks on the cars when they are actually 4-wheeled trucks. It has not been opened. What do they say about raising a child? My 25 year old married daughter loves the trains so we did something right.

3.Fired up the G Scale yesterday outside. Can't wait for a little snow to show off to the Chief.

4. Speaking of Chief, make sure you sign his get well card on the forum. For those that have done so, thank you.

5. Sam's Club has a great Bachman G Scale Christmas Train for $130.00. Nicely decorated, and it makes me wonder why O Scale costs so much.

6. Going to be traveling this week, so maybe I'll visit some new train stores. Two weeks ago I visited a store in Martin's Ferry, Ohio, just east of Cabelas, West Virginia on I-70. . They sell BEEPs and have a good stock of Weaver and Atlas. Wished we had a store like this in Columbus.

Well my coffee is getting cold, so I better get back to business. Have a good day.

Buckeye,

I guess I haven't been paying attention to the fact that you have G scale outside and I have a few questions. Your climate is similar to our's (Iowa) and I'm interested in how the tracks hold up with all the frost heaves, etc. Do you have your track elevated and how did you wire it from the house? This might be something I would be interested in for the future, any of you other guys out there model this gauge outside where the weather can frightful?

I cheated the system and came home earlier than they predicted. All the prayers and concerns made it possible. Had 6 bypasses and two repairs [?]. Got breathing tube out late Wednesday night but was out of ICU by Thursday afternoon. Doing so good that Dr sent me home yesterday PM. Now I need to rest a minute before shaving and showering. Thanks again. God bless all.

Welcome home, Chief! Your swift recovery is great news and an answer to prayer. I was just dropping something in the mail to you - to decorate up your hosp. room - oh well, you should be able to use it anyway. Nice day here. I've installed crossing flashers on the layout - a cheap pair in O scale by Model Power - they flash like police lights. When I turn the power dial on the R transformer, they blink continuously. I thought I created an insulating track secton by plugging the outer rail with a plastic joiners so the train passing would set them off. Not sure what I did wrong but at least they work - even if it is all the time.

Remove that rail [between the two fiber pins] from crossties. Put some vinyl tape under the rail and recrip. The metal is making the connection. You want only the axles of the train to make the connection. You are getting there though.

Southern cooking is right. Surprised!! Pork bar-be-que is on the OK list. Has to be eastern NC vinegar base though. Did good today. Got tired around 4:30 from visitors and etc. Took nap and meds and now better. God bless.

Chief, It's the other "white meat". When I had to forsake beef in favor of chicken and nothing but chicken I discovered that in some items pork can be better for you than poultry. Not only in taste but just as if not healthier. [C=:-)] [dinner]

Is this thread ever going to get to 100?

My layout looks pretty cool. Some track is layed but most is ties awaiting rails to be spiked.

Realy warm this morning - in the high 50s already - what's with that? I'm delightfully going to spend the next few weeks reading CTT on the train and deciding what to buy myself for Christmas - to be given back to me by my wife - right now, I'm thinking a tinplate 'station of some sort, the Lionel WW2 airplane pylon, or some passenger cars. I guess I should spend the same amount of time thinking about what to get her and the kids, eh?

cnw1995, with me it's the opposite problem.. My wife and kids know months in advance what they want to have (what they "need" to have) for christmas, and they tell me that in summer..[:D][:D]

Okay folks, I'm hoping to find some info on an Atlas loco. SD-35, #6813-1, B&O apparently this item is no longer current and not listed on their website catalog. Anybody got any info? [sigh]
P.S. I won't comment on the our weather, don't want a buch of snowbirds heading this way. [swg]

Good afternoon!

I'm quite happy at the moment. Imagine my surprise and excitement to come home from school and find three boxes of postwar Lionel trains sitting on my porch! According to my mom, a friend of mine who's a vintage toy collector from Moosomin (a town nearby) stopped in this morning on his way to Yorkton where his wife is in a nursing home. He had bought these trains from a woman someplace and brought them over to see if I'd be interested in them. He is asking $300 (Canadian) for the lot. He's coming back around 4:00.

This lot includes a 2035 steam engine, a 282 gantry crane (needs some work, but is in decent shape), a 455 oil derek, a 6464-400 B&O Timesaver boxcar, some various common freight cars and a bunch of track, parts, pieces and junk. Needless to say, I'm definetly buying it from him!

This man also happens to be the person that I got my very first vintage O gauge train from (a Marx 4-wheel plastic set). Today was early dismissal from school and tomorrow is parent-teacher interviews and there's no school then, soI've got lots of time to go through my new-found treasures.

Got up early and fed boys and let them out. Did not turn on computer. Pam got up later and I stayed in bed. When I got going she had pulled out all of her Christmas presents and started wrapping them. No way to get to computer. I just went and watched TV, DVD's, rested, ate, walked and slept. She finally got it so I could get in the computer room door. Don't worry if I am late getting on from now on. She still has more presents to wrap. Being really spoiled by her.
Now time for pain meds [chest hurts]. God bless all.

Good Morning All,

NE Ohio has a light show with 52 deg morning today. We are having a very mild late fall season. It make you wonder what winter will be like [?]

Chief – you better just keep resting. Maybe watch some train videos.

Sask – sounds like you got a great goody box – have fun.
