Good Morning All,

It’s a cool morning in NE Ohio, temp 48 deg with cloudy skies. We can already hear the lawyers circling above us.

All quiet here in Illinois - though the election is the only thing anyone wants to talk about - our churck got the town's OK to build out a space in an old warehouse - and all the tax-raising initiatives failed. Nice to see the sun today a bit - though the high is only to be about 50. Hope to go to the library to find the new Trains and Model Railroader mags tonight. Tom, is that the same type of C&O steamer and cars that I saw on someone's layout in the Dec. CTT? It sure looks sharp!

Doug,

It is the same type, but I believe the one in CTT was Lionel and this one is MTH

Here is a couple more pics, be sure to click on them to enlarge them

What really stunns me is that it all runs on the sharp 027 curves you used. I've been searching around on your homepage, and about every locomotive, even the challengers, can go through those curves. Besides that even a veerryy long train, 3 F3 diesels and 8 or so passenger cars run around happily without problems..
That's amazing.

I've seen it in person and they really do go around the O27 curves. Spankybird to you still have the video that I took on your web site?

Hi Guys,
Yes Buckeye, the videoes are still on the web page. Daan, look for the links at the bottom of the pages.

The bigest trick is to be sure the curves are true.

This also prevents me from buying too large or expensive engines. If I can't run it, I can't have it.

Chief, That shine keeps the bloodline flowing. [(-D]
I know we have some PRR fans in here, if so check out
www.k-linetrains.com/specials/specials1.cfm , if I didn't screw up the address they have a PRR PA-1, ABA fully loaded for $250. I'm just not a PRR fan.

@Tom, guess what I've been watching.. You need a bit of clearance near the curves, but they cramp themselves trough it without any problems..
@Chief, good luck today, and take care!

Good Morning All,

NE Ohio is cool, 48 deg with rain showers this morning. The rain will be on and off thru Friday night with a chance of s----n showers Friday late night. And so fall goes.

Yes Chief, our phone also must have died. IT was even great to watch TV without all the XXX advertising. Now if we could just get by all the law suit posting and talk about trains and layouts.

Daan – I am glad you like the videos and layout.

Pick of the Day

BTW - our prays are with Chief today.

Oh no, here I have been patting myself on the back thinking my 027 track will help keep me from these wonderful engines....It's blustery here today - the weather guy sayes there's a 200 mph jet stream from Canada making temps fluctuate wildly over the next few days - we never had as much 'fun' as you faced in Penn and Ohio here in IL - considered a non-'battleground' state - no TV ads, no phone calls - just a flurry of flyers in the mailbox last week. Lots of Christmas ads before Halloween though...Praying for you today, Chief!

Now for the story: The dye showed a strong heart muscle and pumping great. Did find some blockages but not completely. Now for the news. One is in the branch of several arteries. Can not put stint in. SO, bypass surgery next Wednesday morning. No need to put stints in if you have to have one bypass done. Bypass them all while you are in there. No more fishing, running trains or building layout for me for a while. The thing puzzling the Dr's is that I have no sympthons like shortness of breath and chest pain. With no muscle damage and strong heart, I have a lot of plusses. Now, heart cath is a no pain procedure. Watched on the monitor as the dye went into heart and into veins. Could see the little wire running around in the heart and the veins. They just numb you up at the artery at the groin and insert the cath. Neat.

I'm glad they found the problem chief, now they can fix it. Less is that you have to have an operation, and a though one I guess.
The fish, the trains and your layout will wait patiently 'till you recovered, but your body can't wait with such things. I hope you still be on the forum and I whish you all the best for the time in front of you. May God be on your side to guide and help you get back to normal life oneday.
What are the Dr's going to do?? Are you really operated, or can they fix it with some tubing on a long arm through a big artery? I've seen that on television and it seems to me that its a far less dangerous and easier way to get blockages out.. But they can't do that always.

Anyway, take care!

Good Morning All,

Chief, Good to hear you are home and OK for now, Bad to hear that you have to go back for pluming repair. Good to hear that you caught it before any damage has been done. This should make recovery fast.

Look out Chief – we have some more buckeyes on the forum. 2 of them.

Doug – We got your winds last night and today. 25 mph winds with gust of 40, still nothing like what Florida had this summer. Temp in the 40’s with a chance of snow tonight.

We are rounding the corner for the Weekend

Morning gang. Dr says no lifting until Sunday. Suppose to sit in recliner and watch TV. Tom, I'll rewatch and probably rewatch that video you sent me a long time ago. Go through the Band of Brothers DVDs and a few more after I get home. The only good Buckeyes are the ones I got from Buckeye [chocolate]. Bet that would clean out my veins. [;)] Sunny and cooool here. Might get our first frost here. God bless all.

Sunny and cool here too - the library called that the Riddle wiring book is in - so my wife is going to pick it up on her errands today. I know it must be hard to stay relatively quiet, Chief, but at least you have some good DVDs to go through. I am so happy it is Friday.

Torpedo

If you string together all of Spanky's pictures of his heavily trafficked layout, you could produce a full-length feature film, complete with a menagerie.

Dave, here is a real scary part, I have enough track to run between Torpedo house and mine, so we could run trains back and forth. He lives about a ¼ mile from me.

Good afternoon!

Chief: I'll be thinking of you! Hope your bypass surgery goes well!

I'm really looking forward to tomorrow. I'll be heading to Regina to go to the annual model train show. Last year, it was very large and held in a high school's gymnasiums and so was bigger and better than ever before. It used to be held in the building that the model railroad club uses, but it was pretty small and crowded. Hopefully this year's will be as good as last year's. I'll let you guys know how things went and what I came home with.

Election troubles in Ohio. [;)] Beautiful and cool weather. Wish I could be outside to enjoy it. At least I will be around to enjoy it. [:D]

Friday night at last. Been a long week. I'm think'in 'bout sellin off my Postwar stuff and going Prewar tinplate. Last week I bought a 249E loco on e-bay. It runs so smooth and looks so nice going done the tracks. Last year I got into a toy train phase - Marx, Hafner, and Unique Art. They don't run so well though. The prewar Lionel is something else. Big motors, big rolling stock, and heavy. Good-by postwar - Hello prewar.

Have yall seen that beautiful contraption that Daan is building on the other thread. It sure is nice looking. One thing about it , if it catches fire, there's plenty of water in Holland to put it out. Good luck Daan. Chief , lay off the chicken fried steak and cream gravy for a while and you'll do fine.........Tim

Chief, good luck on the surgery. My Dad had a quad a few years ago. Similar to you, he showed no signs other then high cholesteral levels. Make sure you take it easy the first few months afterwards. It really takes the wind out of your sail.

Also, enjoy Band of Brothers. Its one of the best mini-series I've seen. I have the DVD set.

Good Morning All,

NE Ohio has a Blue Clear Sky at 44 deg with a high in the mid 50’s. Sounds like a day to put up Christmas lights outside.

We took down our Halloween village and will be putting up our Christmas village next. Pics to follow.

Chief, sounds like you have to lay off some of that rich southern food. If you don’t some of Yankees will have to come down there and have a talking with you.

Pick of the day

all be safe

@Tim, nice to see I'm not the only one liking the outcome of a bunch of put together stuff from the garbage.. If it catches Fire I have a giant fire-extinguisher which will do the job for me. [swg]
No I don't think it will catch fire. The resistors I'll be using will be mounted on a cooling plate and if that runs too hot I can use a fan to cool that down..

@chief, the problem with food is that the best things are not healthy.. I love fried chicken and that sort of things, and couldn't care less about rice-waffles etc.

Today is a drizzle day. It's cold, very wet outside and even the doggies don't want to get out of the house. Pity not too much train-time for me, I'm doing some DIY in the bathroom today..
