The last day's where hectic. I discovered that the trainroom is very moist due to the central heating system which is located upstairs.. I made the promise to myself that I will make a window and complete isolation on the roof. It will also keep the heat inside the hobby room, which is a nice thing for myself. A bit of daylight wouldn't harm my otherwise darki***rainroom either...
I'll have to wait for some dry weather though, making a window in the roof is risky when it rains..

I thought I wrote something about Steamtown, guess I didn't. [|)]

Steamtown is great! The best exhibit is the cut-a-way of the actual full size steam engine with an explanation on how it works. The shops are cool, but if you can visit them when they are working on the engines the entertainment value goes up. Unfortunately, the U.P. Big Boy is sitting out in the open and is staining pretty badly. It is not as big as I remembered from the last visit. Steamtown is one of the top railroad locations I have visited, but the B&O Museum in Baltimore is my favorite because of the historical pieces including the E-8s that are there in B&O Royal Blue. [8D]

Chief, I didn't know you had to rake leaves down south. Do palm trees lose their leaves? If Pam wants a lesson on how to run the John Deere, just have her give Ol Buckeye a call. I first drove a John Deere when I was about 10 at an uncle's farm.

Visited two train shows today and found a new way to make cheap trees. More later when I post the photos, but I will tell you I got to see the most awesome G Scale RR. Trains with 40 cars and big diesels on the front running on a layout the size of a gym floor.

Boy is "Mother Nature" throwing us a curve, here we had our winter one nite already, frost, so I was looking forward to a nice warm period til spring. Wouldn't you know it, we got a cold front coming thru with cold rain locally and more snow in the local mountains. BBRRRRRR. [(-D]

Good Morning All,

NE Ohio has cooled back down to normal [?] with partly cloudy skies, temp at 34 with a high of 40. Yesterday we had sunny with high of 58, not bad for this time of the year.

Tim – I have 5 by MTH (2 PS1 and 3 PS2) and 3 Lionel, so a total of 8. Don’t tell my wife.[:O]

Doug – You can pick up some MTH with PS1 at very reasonable price and have TMCC put in it.[8D] I wouldn’t hold my breath for Lionel to make one any time soon.[B)]

Buckeye – Can’t wait to see your picks of Steamtown. Did you also stop at the Cho-Cho Barn[?]

Morning gang. Slept better last night. Rained hard during the night and now sunny and warmer.

Doug, you can add TMCC to the engines. Might have to put the works in the tender. Buckeye has done a conversion or two on engines. Not that expensive. MTH PS2 is a lot more costly.

I visited the largest garden rr layout I have ever seen and a MTH Layout with almost every animated accessory that they make. More later.

Buckeye, the largest ‘G’ scale layout I have ever seen was in East of Rochester, NY. 2,500 sq. ft. inside. Needless to say, it was a very large hobby store. Sorry to say, I don’t remember the name of it.

The wife and I were out shopping today and stopped by "Walter Anderson Nursery" to check out their "G" layout. WOW have they expanded it tremendously, part of it is on trestles that have to be at least 75 to 100 ft long and none of it is staight. Bridges of all shapes and sizes. To have that size budget and space to work in is unimagineable. I'll have to do a web search later to see if they have updated their site or the San Diego Garden Railway site. [8D]

I went to our local train show and only bought a 1/43 diecast car.

It’s a 1966 T’bird with a great paint job on it. All for only $6.00

Well after 4 days off, I can’t tell if I am coming or going.

Hello gang,

Back from Houston and Thanksgiving at my sister's new house. They recently downsized and moved into town ("inside the loop" as they say) as they were burned out on the 1.5-2 hour drive to work each day. They now live on the same street were we grew up. Nice neighborhood. Warm enough we spent most of the holiday out on the patio.

It was a nice vacation from doing all the work to cook, etc. My sister and her husband visited us for Christmas a couple of years ago and spent the entire time on the sofa, glasses of wine in hand. So when she looked at me suggesting a helping hand, I mentioned she was blocking my view of the television and that I needed another glass of wine. We all had a great time.

Raining here in Dallas and the next cold blast is on the way. No freezes predicted yet, but mid-30's anticipated. Got some of the holiday decorations up before it started raining last night. Bought new outside lights at Sears (30% off) as the old sets (23+ years) had all the bulbs colors fading and it was cheaper to buy a new set vs new bulbs.

Chief, have a relaxing day. Too bad the holiday weekend is over. TV gets even worse during normal weekday daytime hours. As George Carlin once said, "My television has a brightness control but it doesn't work!"

Roy lives in Texas. You know Texas has a lot of cows. Well Roy and wife were out playing golf the other day. Roy hit a long drive off of the tee. His wife teed up and hit it to the left of the fairway. About that time a cow walked out. The ball gave a big bounce and went up the cow's butt. After walking around a while looking for the ball, Roy walks over to the cow and lifts its tail. There is his wife's golf ball. Smiling, he yells out, "Honey, this looks like yours." Emergency room Dr. just announced that Roy will survive even though he has a concussion, broken ribs and both arms are broken. [:D]

Carpet guys left about an hour ago. "No speaka the English." They did a good job though.

I've not seen it in it's new incarnation.

I went with my grandparents sometime around 1988. I really liked it. More trains going at once than I had ever seen. It made quite an impression.I was picking out a scale for my first attempt at a layout(HO with brush painted RF&P engines).They had a great Playmobile layout with knights and pirates. We spent hours there. It was in my mind the best train store I've ever been to and I compare all others to it.

When I came back to the hobby I thought Mikes Trainland had started making trains under the MTH brand. I thought it was the same Mike.

I am really sad to here its not around anymore. When I moved to Va. in 1979 it was located at Colemans nursery, and I think around 1983 they had a fire and the trains where saved and then Mike moved to another location

I don't get it. If you did that in Buckeye Land, you would have been dead before you hit the ground.
