Still winning that water tower!  Getting closer and closer!  Hope nobody snipes me.  'Course, I just spent over $100 on track the other day.  And, I should be getting my Lionel Halloween/Transylvania stuff shipped soon....  Smile [:)]

York... Sounds like all you guys headed for York, are in for a great time.  Maybe next year will make the trip.  Sure at a  disadvantage  as far as trains go here on the left coast.  Even the  majority of the train shops are significantly  biased against MTH.  Definetly understand why Mike  doesn't aggressively pursue the market here.  Train meets here are nothing more than 15 or 20 guys clearing out the old stuff.

Sure will be interesting what new things are going to be announced.  When Lionel was as the NATIONAL TTOS meet last month, they had some real pictures of the Nascar cars mounted on some cardboard.  I would be really interested if the TMCC II is demonstrated, it wasn't here.  Have to admit I have one on order.

Going on an extended speaking tour in Ariz for 3 weeks.  Maybe will see something interesting there.  (Being Optimistic).  Did find a O scale water tower kit I will play with to kill time, while in Ariz..

Jim - Good luck on the water tower!

Our Room - As my luck would have it, slight scheduling delay.  Only 2 days though, crew coming out to demo the existing patio tomorrow, and forming for the floor slab which is scheduled for pouring on Thursday.  room delivery on Friday, then build and electrical installation on Saturday.  So we will see?!?

Dennis,

I am thinking of doing a train demonstration for my little Brownies. The could learn about electricity, how a transformer turns high voltage into safe low voltage, magnetization from an uncoupling track, the different types of freight cars that deliver our goods, etc.

Sorry to hear about your double secret probation. Would love to hear what you spent 10K on last year. Was it all post war stuff?

Chief,
I'm very sorry your ZW is giving you so much trouble. I'll make it right with you.

Have a great day, everyone.

Good enough, Laz. Look forward to hearing from you. If the software doesn't let you write back, here's my e-mail addresses:

jimapitz@hotmail.com

japitz@ll.mit.edu

Use either one.

We ran our post war Hudsons and our 2025 last night. All of them took turns pulling a string of NYC streamliners. Also started cleaning out the train room. It's been kind of messy since I started scenery on the layout. I want it cleaned up and looking good. The kids call it their clubhouse. Kids! It's MY clubhouse!!

Chief,
I sent you some PDF files today. They are large, but I was able to get them to print. You should be able to print them as well.

Good morning all,

I tried to post once and then it asked me to long on again.  It is cloudy with temps staying in the 60s all day in SE Indiana.  I got to play indoor soccer in a pick up game at the Y with some people from overseas.  Lucas had an ok day, not great, not horrible.  The girls win streak is still intact as the game against a state ranked team was postponed due to the weather.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Jim,

Yeah, most of it was postwar, but several new sets and lots of rolling stock and scenery.  I bought around 30 engines.  It is a bad thing when you know the sound of a UPS truck coming down the driveway and the dogs are so used to him that they no longer bark.  It is also a bad thing when your wife places her loving hand in yours and you think to yourself "gee, with this diamond ring, I could buy the whole Lionel catalog offerings, and still have change left over for benchwork".

Well, I hope that y'all have a good day, and please, don't give the Chief too much grief about the ZW, it is bad enough that the last time he worked on one, he got a hairdo like Don King.Smile [:)]

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a rainy 50 degrees and only going up to 60 today. More rain expected.

Today is grocery shopping day. Lots of fun. Gas is at $2.05 and still falling. Diesel is still at $2.73. Truckers will protest soon.

I finished my outside project yesterday and now I will plan on starting about 4 inside projects plus the train layout. I will be busy this winter. Sorry I used that nasty word.

Chief....I didn't mean to get " down right dirty " about the airlines. I guess you dislike them more than Yankees.

Well, anyway, off to the Dining Car for breakfast.

Y'all have a great day.

Good morning,

Well Chuck, I see you didn't sleep in quite as late today.

On York, I think the cell phone thing is to prevent price shopping between buildings.  For those who have not been there, it is spread over 7 buildings on about 50 acres I would guess, maybe more.  The camera rule is not quite clear and I have never seen an actual expanation by the Eastern Division of TCA as to why it is in force.  There was a big ado in the spring because someone sneaked some pictures of the display layout.  None of the people that had the display objected but the show sponsors got all bent out of shape.  Myself, I like the no cell phone rule, I hate people walking around talking on cell phones all the time.  Camera rule doesn't particularly bother me and I love the no stroller rule.  As you may have guessed the TCA is dominated by a bunch of old codgers, seld included.  Hope that statement doesn't get me expelled.

Once in a while when I open the forum I do have to log on again.  Most of the time it does it automatically.  Another of those computer inconsistencies.  Just now it would not let me go to the last page, I had to go back to the main forum and select the last page to get there.

Installed a string of 100 clear lights under the old layout yesterday as work lights.  Lights things up pretty well.  Plan to put another set under the new section.

Dennis, Consider this, if you were into sailing or sports cars, 10k would not buy a whole lot.  That is what I always use for an excuse. Big Smile [:D]

Off to work on my dollhouse project.

Good morning from a rainy and dark Chicago. I hate beginning the workday all wet. And I'm getting sick of rain. I would never last in the Pacific Northwest. York sounds like an unbelieveable experience - I hope you lucky enough to attend enjoy it. I am counting the days until I get my 520 in the mail. I was originally going to save it for myself for Christmas - to ensure I have something to look forward to..but I'm going to open it up to run.. I hope the payment thing went through - the first time it hiccuped. Probably means I'm going to end up paying twice. I found the missing pantagraph on Olsen's website but they want $7 shipping for a $6 item. Guess they have to make their money somewhere - but I'll wait a bit. May you all have a good day!

Doug, everyone charges about the same price for shipping. Bite the bullet and buy the pantagraph. You'll enjoy it long after the shipping price was forgotten. Good luck with your new 520!

If your instructions weren't in Spanish you mite be in trouble. Ashamed [*^_^*]

Spent a bit of time at the museum yesterday chatting with a retired gentleman who does a lot of volunteer work, just finished a couple of cabooses, at the Museum of Industry(?) in St. Louis.

As far as airlines, they all are a major pain where a pill can't reach. But, that being said I fly only Delta unless there is no service to a specific location, and I make all of my own arrangements. I was even booking my wifes travel arrangements prior to her retirement.

Long long day at work, that's for sure.  Trying to fix a computer for my friend's son - no go.  I'll take it to a guy I know and see if he can fix it.  It's old old old - partitioned HD, Win95 with BIOS support for Win95, etc.  No disks, of course, and not enough memory to play old Win95 games.  I tried putting Win98 on it, and now the HD isn't there per BIOS and Norton95 etc.  Censored [censored]Banged Head [banghead]

Time to work on designing my Halloween Layout!  I love Halloween, esp with all the little buildings and stuff that is available!  I am also looking forward to Christmas this year as I want to do another layout for that.  Last year I only did the Halloween layout and it was up until January, I think.

Well dad made it to Vegas.  If all is going well he's getting ready to go to the Sahara for "The Platters".  I gave him a map of the strip with all the "freebie" shows like the Fountains and Volcano.  He has all day tomorrow to himself and then heads to Williams on Friday for a train ride to the Grand Canyon.

Take care guys.  I got called out tomorrow for the weekend.  My first weekend of in over 2 months and it's ruined.  I'll be home late Saturday.

Hang in there Marty, the money will be nice!  Hope your dad has a good trip.

Won that water tower on ebay!  It says it's in poor condition, but I plan to copy Tom's idea and put wood on it anyway.  If the legs are messed up, I'll take it apart and use it as a template for a woodworking project, when I'm not working on the basement!

Good morning guys.  Rainy here, cool too.  In 50's, should clear up by weekend.

Was away for a few days in the mountains of western Maryland in Garrett County after visiting our son and watching WVU romp over Eastern Washington.  WVU versus Maryalnd tinight.  Should be a good game. Enjoyed the scenery.  Visited a restored Queen Anne Style B & O RR Station. Very cool.  Forgot the camera so no pics. Bed at motel was hard as a rock, did not sleep well. Last night was 4th of 5 Back to School Nights.  Last one is Monday then no more night meetings until October 11.

Still have about 12 pages of posts in the Coffee Pot to catch up on.

Take care,

Mitch

Good morning, everyone.

Somehow, while making my lunch this morning, I managed to get mustard all over the front of my pants. Didn't notice it till I got to work.

Wet weather heading our way for the weekend, so I might take the kids up to Manchester, NH to Mountain Trains. They have a big layout. The kids will dig it. I'm leaving the credit card at home!!!

I'm glad that rebel in NC finally got his ZW to work. That's a load off of my mind. Faulty circuit breaker. Thanks to Bob for the help!

Last night Percy roamed the inner loop while the Polar Express Berk pulled a set of NYC streamliners for some exercise on the outer loop. A good time was had by all.

Laz,
I got your e-mail. Sent you a reply.

Jim F.
Congratulations! I'm sure you're gonna make that water tower into a thing of beauty. The seller is right here in my town. The Chief met him last time he was here.

Positive Vibes (PVs) for Lucas!

Have a great day.

Good morning all,

It is cloudy and cool with temps reaching into the 70s today.  I went to a local meeting about the new Honda plant last night.  It was very informative, but the website they gave out last night does not appear to work.  Most of the rail traffic is expected to go north toward Indy.  They have a very ambitious schedule for completion of the project, and there has already been one revision of the new interchange.  Could be some interesting times ahead.  Lucas slept most of the day during chemo.  Hopefully, this will all end soon.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana
