Laz,
Are you looking for scale or semi-scale engines.
Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a gloomy 65 degrees. Going to 75 today and possible rain. Maybe it will clear up and the sun will shine. Hope so.
Today, I will work on my outside project and hope to finish it up. That's the last one outside before the cold weather comes. That's a nasty thought. I need to clean up some old tools and get ready to work on the layout about 3 or 4 days a week.
I will be going to the NMRA train show with John ( csxt30) on October 7th., at the fairgrounds in Berea, OH. I am really looking forward to it. We were suppose to go to a show back in March but I was sick and could not. Glad that's over with. I would also like to drive up and see the Museum layout. Maybe in the Spring.
Well, I am off to the Dining Car for breakfast. Talk later.
Y'all have a great day.

Thanks, Jim. You and the other guys on the Forum were a great support to me. I really appreciated it.

GREG, scale steam engines. With TMCC or DCS.

Analogue broadcasting is being phased out in favour of digital and high definition TV. My participation sport was cycling, I am a great admirer of Lance Armstrong.
NPR [National Public Radio] in the USA is funded by donations. No government funding. I listen to it all the time. We get the BBC news on it. It is funny to listen to the BBC news angle on world events involving the USA. Sounds more truthful than some of the news we get [especially on FOX News, I look at it and laugh sometimes]. Prairie Home Companion is a favorite. The movie was good too. OH, we have the BBC on TV too.

jaabat wrote:Good morning all. Parent teacher conference last night at my daughter's school. Lots of pretty mommies roaming the halls, but I kept thinking pure thoughts. Sure I did! We signed my daughter up for Brownies, and guess who is going to be helping out. Little ol' me. I hope they have a uniform big enough! Last week we took the kids to a playground and a newspaper photographer took some photos of them. They appeared in the paper last night. The kids were elated. On the way home from the PTO meeting, I bought every copy of the newspaper that the drug store had. Post war Hudson fever grips New England man. Film at eleven. So this is what a mid-life crisis is like? I always pictured myself buying a sports car, not 50 year old toy trains. I'm gonna try going cold turkey today with Ebay. The funny thing is, I'm not buying things I've longed for. Impulse purchases, every one! I don't need a 2055 motor. Maybe I'm just trying to spend it before my wife does. Have a great day, everyone. Jim
Jim, you will look cute in a Brownie brown dress.
The News really read, "New England Kids starved by Dad who is spending all his money on trains." "Mom works at night to try to make ends meet."
Lets see what Jim has that I need in my train "fleet". Think I can get it "real cheap" by saying, "I will call a certain New England wife."
Morning all. Not going to Kerr Lake as earlier planned. Buddy has conflicts and it suits me well. Got to get going. Cooler here and seems Fall is around the corner. I love Fall. Especially fishing. Cool, pretty leaves and the fish are feeding up for the winter. Now to get a chance to go some.
Have a great day.
Good morning from a grey and extremely humid Chicago. Today is my late night - first night of class for fall. I bought me a 520 boxcab on eBay! - my first transaction on that site in a million years. I guess I have more will-power than members of this forum who will go unnamed. More likely, I just don't have the cash to do anything with I bought it outright instead of bidding - it was noted as running well, with the motor brushes replaced. That's my kind of engine.. It's missing a pantagraph but I'm sure I can furnish up something. Can't wait to get it. Roger, it sure is great to find another local enthusiast - and help him work on a layout - make sure it's a big one.
Just imagining Jim in his Brownie uniform (LOL). We have open house night tomorrow at the high school. I continue to be disturbed by the teachers being far far younger than I am...
John, yesterday was a weird day around here - rained all day and with all the 9/11 memorials, I think people were pretty down. Funny that's one of those days I remember every detail.
I just stumbled across a neat article on the main CTT website about a guy who has kitbashed all sorts of funky looking engines - a double-ended F; a mini-Little Joe. C heck it out.
Doug Murphy 'We few, we happy few, we band of brothers...' Henry V.
Jim, maybe I will introduce her to Macy's on line shopping [I get emails from them all the time as I have a Macy's CC]. Then she can stay home with the starving kids and shop by computer [which she can buy online too].
It's good to get the New England Yank's goat.

Jim......That smell of a Southern barb-b-q, is really " road kill " and GRITS cookin' up .
Jim,
You should make up train pins for the brownies to earn doing benchwork and scenery. You could even have extra "Merrit badges" for tuning up your engines.
On the purchase string, I got my SOO car and a Lionel Santa Fe manual Gantry Crane delivered yesterday. I think they will look very good on the layout. I actually purchased these before I went on "Double Secret Probation".
Doug, I saw the piece on the CTT site about the kitbashed trains. It could be a great idea for some items, but I doubt I would get as eccentric as he did. I think I would stay closer to prototype.
Have a great day,
Dennis

Good evening guys,
Chief, I know train travel wouldn't work for you, to many short trips. Just mentioned it to illistrate that there are a lot of us out there that have had it with flying and don't do it unless we have to.
Marty, My Dad & Stepmother traveled back and forth between PA & Florida by plane for about 10 years. The last few years they would always arrange for wheel chairs, even though they could walk slowly. There was no way either could walk fast enough to change planes in Charlotte or Atalnta and that was the only way they could make the trip. Take the Chief's advice.
Jon, If you are going to York, you will be able to talk directly to the guys at CTT. By the way a group of us, from the pot, will try to get together at the CTT booth and get a picture. Oh, and you may not know this but no pictures are allowed in any of the buildings at York. We had to step outside to take the picture. Also no cell phones allowed. I know this isn't a problem for you, but no strollers are allowed either.
Till tomorrow,

There are a bunch of scale steamers for sale on the OGR Buy/Sell board. Might try SVC trains Buy/Sell board too.

Don,
The no pictures rule comes up frequently on the other forum. It has its proponents and opponents. Some of the threads get a little nasty every once in a while.
By the way, you can answer your cell phone in a hall, but you have to go outside to continue the conversation.

Just out of curiosity, does " York " have a dress code ??

I said, she could buy one on line [from the library ]. Have to rebuild Yankee ZW's. They are not smart enough to test them out.

Southern Gray. BTW: the only road kill in the South is Yankees we run over. Open season on them.

Looks like about 6 or 8 other OTTS boys will also be joining us. This is sounding like a really great time coming.

We know how to test them. We just have some old southern boy stand in some water and then hold onto the leads from the A and U post as we turn up the handles. It works every time for me.
