Supposed to be a nice couple of days coming up. A welcomed change from the recent heat. I've got a lead on a nice garden railroad layout that I'd like to take the kids to see. I will call the owner tonight and see if he'll let us drop by. I'm told he loves visitors.

I got a lot of work done on the layout last night (wife is back to work). I made and painted a rock outcropping for one corner of the layout. Closing in on all table surface being scenic-ed. Gotta have it done by the end of September.

Wash and wax the car tonight if the kids haven't torn the house apart by the time I get home.

Chief, have you decided if your going to put your new couch in the front yard, or the back?

Good morning all,

It is less humid and cooler with temps reaching into the low 80s today in SE Indiana.  Jaabat, if you have time to wash and wax some vehicles, I have three here in the Hoosier state that could use some work :-)  Chief, I am enjoying your little tidbits of history.  I have a book (or the library does, I forget which) that details all the Civil War sites and battle grounds.  I was unaware of the conflicts west of Texas until I read that work.  Lucas was very sleepy after his treatment yesterday, but seemed to be doing better by evening.  We just have to keep pumping food in him.  My wife and I were able to go to the Y, and work out some.  I think it helped me sleep better as well.  I have to be ready for next summer's soccer.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It looks like a beautiful day today. 72 now and sunny. Going up to 88 and no rain. Now if there is a nice breeze, that's perfect.

Today, we have to finish moving some small things from the living room. They will be here tomorrow to install the new carpeting. This original did not wear as we thought it would. Bye.

I ran trains and worked on the layout, yesterday afternoon. Felt good. I have to do some dusting, as things need some attention. As soon as I get the final sections of track secured, I will start working on the mountains. I have to build two of them, one is large.

Well, off to the Dining car for breakfast and will return later.

Buckeye.....Hope you are having fun in Colorado. Nice train ride.

Y'all have a great day.

HI GIZ,

CHUCK sounds like the same weather here.  BEAUTIFUL!!!!

Had a nice run today, enjoyed this weather.

JELECTRIC, yep BARRY had a bunch of those reefers on the table, I didn't get any got too many now.  Got my new Lionel catalog, I thinking about the legacy Big Boy but got to see what price BARRY can get it for me?  MIKE was there on friday and we spent about an hour talking there.  Nothing much new came into the store, just killed some time pulling his leg.

MITCH, being your from the southern border of the state, say you didn't have GRITS with those crabs on Sunday?

All have a good one?

Morning all.  Got to book flight to Bosie ID.  Any train stores there?  Mike, glad to hear that Lucus is doing better with his treatments.  Sure hope they don't pull him down too low.   GRITS with crab.  HUMMM We do have shrimp and grits.  Maybe a new dish.  Can't believe a Yank would come up with a new GRITS dish. Shock [:O]  Hot and humid.  Hope to mow today.  Need rain.  As stated, rained all around us but we got only a sprinkle.  Horse problem gone at pond.  Now 4 wheeler problem.  Not bad for them to run on the path.  But into the pond and destroy the bank.  Kid I'm sure.  Guess I'm going to have to cable the back entrance too.  Hey, I need to run some trains.  All have a great day.  Later.

Jim, thanks for the advice about the spiders in the grill. I'll poke around later in the week. Today's my long day - fortunately, it is another sunny 80s day here in Chicago. I'm slowly preparing myself to meet a buddy after work tomorrow for the White Sox-Yankees game - my first of the season (got to get a ride to the train in the morning, remember to leave my bag at home, re-arrange my calendar, get money for beer - the important things).

Chief, is the pond posted?

Chief,

Put a plank of wood with some nice big nails or spikes sticking up out of it at each entrance. A few flat tires will deter your ATV friends.

Who could have imagined the turnaround the Tigers have made from last year? I think it's great to see an old MLB town like Detroit have something to cheer about after so many down years. Too bad Pittsburgh couldn't do the same. The Red Sox are pulling their annual August swoon. At least I lived to see them win it all once.

Good morning everyone,

I hope Lucas will continue to feel better.

Chief, where I live, there are no places to ride quads, but that doesn't stop some kids in my neighborhood from riding theirs. They pull them out into the street, and they seem to be very popular during the winter time. One time my friend and I hooked a small trailer from a lawnmower onto his quad and we took people for rides in the snow. We took the turns fast and made people flip over. Thank god the pin was a bright color so we wouldn't lose it. Any way, just take jaabat's advice and hide the nail board in the dirt. That was what a guy I know did when kids were using dirtbikes in his woods.

Afternoon.  Still have not gotten to mow.  Need to water.  60% chance of Tstorms.  Guys, would do that but some kid might walk on it.  Had that happen several years ago.  Guy put them all over his property.  Little girl had to pee real bad and parents took her to the woods.  She stepped on it and the nails went through her foot.  Nothing they could do to property owner as he had up sign saying, No Trespassing.  I'll have to spend money to buy cables.  Hot and humid.  So hot I got wet unloading the groceries and supplies out of my truck.  Later.

If it makes you feel any better, Jim, they complained about the implied sexual content. I just figured it was more straight forward to just tell you that it was off topic.

They would have still complained if it was toy train related.

It didn't bother me, but it bothered another forum member.

Chief,  Made soup this morning early.  Grandson and I had some for lunch.  He said he loved it.  I think I might have been a little heavy on the hot peppers.

Doug,  I read that strip this morning.  One thing I can't figure is that the strip is supposed to be set in Canada, yet the guy has a garden railroad?

Here is a pic of some more cattle I painted.  These are angus.  I removed the horns as most angus do not have them.

Enjoy your trains,

Hey All!
Life has been pretty hectic in these parts.  Spent the weekend in Reading at GATS.  Delaware Valley HiRailers displayed and we did GREAT.  We had a 70' x 24' modular layout and ran trains non-stop.....   that is until I had a little mishap with my Never run before Reading K-line F-3 ABA lashup.  Had it pulling 25 flat cars with containers and went around 25 + times with No issues.   Decided to add smoke to all the stacks as per the instruction, then turned on the smoke switch, powered the Z4000 back to 18 volts and brown smoke poured out from ALL OVER the lead A unit.  Smelled like a fire in a wire factory.  Needless to say I was depressed. Sad [:(]
I will send it to TA studios and let them work on it.  But in the mean time, I picked up a set of the sea land gndersons from atlas, 4 scale box cars and a new diesel proto 2.0 upgrade someone was selling for $100.00.  So all in all it wasn't a bad weekend.  Other than that back to treaching for the third summer session and taking advantage of the cold spell here in the Philly area..... High's of 87 instead of 97.  Well I am off to make dinner from the garden.  CHeck in with you tomorrow.

Your Black and white Yankee

Well, I bid on a used water tower sort of like Tom's thinking I'd fix it up with wood, but some dirty dog is outbidding me - not really willing to spend too much since I planned to alter it anyway....

"I suppose they'll drag that job out & get the gas prices up a lot more, then never lower them !"

Sign - Ditto [#ditto]

I usually don't like For Better or Worse much - it seems kinda dreary to me - but I did notice they had a toy train cartoon a few months ago on a Saturday.  At least they got that right!  Trains and Workshop - Jimbo heaven!

They moved out polling place to the Salvation Army just up the street from my house.  Had to force my way through all the folks there to tell me who to vote for (whom?).  My wife hates it because it's downstairs and she doesn't like stairs with her foot and knee problems.  We always had the famous "hanging chad" ballots, but now we have new ones where you color in the circle.  I like that better than the St. Louis County ones they introduced this year with touch screens.  If there isn't a permanent record on paper of my vote that I made myself and filed in a box, then I would suspect that some clever computer guy could change my vote with no way to verify it.

I might build a water tower top using Fimo (?) that clay you bake - to make it look all rotten and cartoonish for my Halloween layout.

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Back from the left coast.   The Tonight Show was a lot of fun but unfortunately we were in the upper section.  Still not to far but couldn't get up close.  VIP seats?  I appreciated them anyways as it was a good time after a long week.  The red eye seemed to take forever.  No real train stuff today.  Hoping to get a hard copy of the Lionel catalog tomorrow.

Lots of pain.  The last two months electic bill here in Arizona would buy a Lionel GG1 or a brass HO loco.  And we keep the house at 80 deg.  Don't know what the cost would be to be really comfortable.    TARP

Good morning everyone.

Chuck's up early today. I'm up late. Decided to sleep in all the way to 5:30. I'll be here till at least 4, so what the heck.

Mid 70's dry, and pleasant is the forecast for the rest of the week here. Now that's more like it!

Got some more work done on our layout last night and ran trains. Also discovered that cardboard wine boxes make excellent storage containers for our rolling stock. Each carton has 12 slots that fit O27 cars perfectly.

I need a few cups of tea. I'm jealous of the Chief having B-B-Q for lunch. I brought an egg salad sandwich.

I hope all have a great day.

Good morning all,

Another Yankee reporting for duty early this morning.  It is cloudy and muggy with temps heading into the low 80s in SE Indiana with rain forecast for some time today.  We got new tires for the truck yesterday as the old ones had 38,000 miles on them (that we knew of; we bought it used) with two of the tires having some slow leaks and one had a slight bulge in the side.  We also met with school officials to set up classes for Lucas.  He will be taking a reduced schedule this fall, and then we will see how he does before we set up the second semester.  He had a fairly good day.  My wife and I took the dog for a walk and I did some dribble drills with the soccer ball.  Chief, good luck with keeping people off your property and hope your trip to your mom's goes ok.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana
