Play Ball!!!!  This is the sandlot players from scenic express.  And this is how we use to play when I was a kid street against street, all summer long every other day.  Notice rock for second base, was built in so we couldn't move it.  Also the pallets for a back stop otherwise the ball would be in the blackberry bushes.  OUCH!!!!

Its coming along slow but steady.  Still don't feel like hooking up lights yet.  Got to run the trains a little longer and see if I want to move more things?

Thanks GIZ,  I will try and get some more on as I make progress.

Make sure you check the baseball pics.  I do like them reminds me of my youth, not a care in the world only playing ball.

Like the Ballfield with the players in it. Looks neat. Well it looks like flying got interesting again.  Arrgh!  Everything else I can get at the hotel but toothpaste!  They have it but what a waste for us to buy it every time.  I guess I could check my luggage but then the airlines would loose it fer sure.  I guess it's the sign of the times.  Hope all are well and everyone is having a good day.

good evening guys,

Went out for Mexican food after spending some time loading my son's closet with trains.  Upon our return, I got two packages, one the ZW I got for $100.00, then I had won a auction for 5 post war cars for $21.00, and the package was on the stairs.  Overall a great suprise upon my return, a small frown on my better half's face, then I told her how good of a deal and she seems OK with it.  Anyway, just trying to get the layout done.

Sounds like a great deal on that ZW for sure!

Still hot, but had more rain today and it's not as bad.  My wife is helping our friend set up her classroom for next week - she's a teacher.  I picked up the kids on my way home from work.  Walked in and the phone is ringing, kids are yelling, dog is trying to escape, and some lady wants to know where our truck payment is - it's not late, but...  Heck if I know, my wife does that.  Just checked and it was done on July 23rd, probably in the mail the next day, which I think was a Monday, so I think they should have gotten it by now.  Will have my wife call to find out what's up.

Watching Kung Pow - Enter the Fist! with the kids.  I love this movie!

Lost another auction for a different water tower - must not be in the cards!  Going to Michaels tomorrow, according to my plan.  Kids have one more day with the sitter.  I'm off Monday and my wife is off Wednesday.   Not sure what's going on Tuesday.  Anyway, kids are back in school in one week - counting it down!

Mike - your family is in our prayers.  God bless.

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

PS - Don't know if you guys watch the Food Network, but this week Paula's boys were at the Blue Owl, which is about 7 miles from my house, eating Levee Pie - a foot high apple pie!  They also had some great brats in the area.  Then, yesterday on Eating Asphalt, Alton (?) ate at Ted Drewes, which is a St. Louis classic.  A few days ago, we were watching a special on Diners.  They had a guy who makes whacky models/statues of diners with working neon and stuff, that looked very cool and might be neat on a layout if you ordered one in scale.  Then, they went to the Dixie Diner/Truck Stop in McLain Illinois, which is about 3 miles from my Aunt and Uncle AND my cousin used to work there as a waitress!  Very cool!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Jim, Watch out on those payments, they have lousey paper control so you are assumed guilty. I spent the first half of the week dealing with a real butthead at a collection agency. It seems that our medical provider has a bug in their accounting system. The medicos turned over the account for collection even tho #1 I never received a bill, #2 their A/P showed they owed me a credit, #3 their A/R showed that I owed them an amount equal to my credit owed. Angry [:(!]Angry [:(!]Angry [:(!]Angry [:(!]

We are going to our daughter's classroom next tuesday, we are her source for free labor, at least we get lunch out of it. It's funny, but you never realize how much CRAP teachers have to put up with until you are directly invoved in one form or another. The biggest problem being the PARENTS

I've seen those diners somewhere on the net but I can not remember where they were. Must be an age thing. Confused [%-)]

Good evening,

Chief, The grandsons are active in 4H.  They will be showing steers, lambs & goats tomorrow at the Dauphin County 4H competition in Harrisburg.

Week of August 21st they will be showing all of the above + swine at the Elizabethtown Fair.

This is Smokey, a shorthorn steer & 13 year old grandson.

This is Bandit, a hereford steer & 11 year old grandson.

Laz, That is one neat ballfield.  Great layout pictures.  I noticed some giant must have left his cordless driver set on the layout.Big Smile [:D]

John, Why all the double shifts, CSX that shorthanded?

Did some painting on the doll house project again today and picked up my add on DCS system along with a preordered Lionel PRR flat that had come in.  Also a few misc. items.  Going to the 4H show tomorrow so won't get much else done.

Have a pleasant evening.

Mike C - Lord knows you guys need a break.  Wishing you the very best.  Along with everyone else my heartfelt compassion, prayers, and best wishes for Lucas.  I was watching PBS last night and saw the last 10 to 15 seconds of an ad for survivors of various cancers and Lucas's was one.  It was a free publication seems to be done very upbeat, and emphasized the overwhelming majority of people that beat it.  And it was free.  Your Drs have probably already provided information to you.  If I see it I sure will get the information to pass on.

Laz, that is one terrific ball park!  We used a pot hole in the street for home and trees for 1st and 3rd, usually would have a cardboard box for second, which you just kicked.

Sounds like lots of new cars and xfmrs arriving.  I must check this forum 2-3 times a day, but just can't seem to come up with much interesting stuff to pass on.  You guys do a great job!

I did draw out a layout plan on our patio floor that I have been working on.  It seemed a lot better on the computer, so back to the drawing board.  Its to the point I think I have overplanned this event, but will keep working on it.  I am going to have to G Scale tracks suspended from the ceiling, (ovals) was planning on just one, but have been thinking it would be a negligible cost for two concentric ovals, the cost is going to be in the hangers and no real cost for a double track as compared to single.  I think Im going to design something on my own, the prefab are just to expensive.

Hope everyone has a good evening.

Marty, I always check my luggage.  In the three and half years of flying, it was lsot one time.  This year when the flight from Cincinnati was screwed up and 3 1/2 hours late getting to Charlotte.  We walked from one plane right on the other to fly to RDU.  The luggage didn't make it [none of us on the flight had luggage at RDU].  Got it next day and US Airways sent me a $100 voucher in responce to my email complaint.   In fact, I wish they would make everyone do it.  Only carry your brief case and ladies can carry their purse.   Then the flights would load faster and unload faster.  Makes me mad to see folks with too big roller bags trying to stuff them in the over head and hold up everyone trying to get on.   Seems the smallest ladies have the biggest bags. Wink [;)]

Laz, great job.

Just got in from putting up cables over the back sewer easement.  Had to set two 6X6 posts.  Had to carry everything a half of a mile as could not drive to location.  Holes were hard to dig as dry and the easement was packed and hard.  Got them down 2 feet after a lot of sweat.  Strung cable when almost dark.  Cut bypass path for horses in the dark.  Set my maglight [rechargeable mounted in truck like law enforcement] on one of the posts I set and sawed away with chain saw.  Then flagged it in the dark.  Saw only one snake.  Almost dark when I climbed the hill to truck on one of my many trips back and forth.  He was on path behind truck.  He scurried away.  Didn't even draw on him.  Got home and pulled off shirt and water was dripping out of it.  I knew that while I was working, water was dripping out of the brim of my hat.   Well, that means I need to drink more sweet ice tea before bed to replinish.

Did run trains this afternoon while it rained 100 drops on my lot. Sad [:(]

John, the pictures of the boy and their animals did not show.  Try again.  Would love to see them.

Later.

Don, Are you going to hang the shelf for the G gauge from the ceiling or use shelf brackets?  If you are going with shelf brackets, they make some very sturdy ones that I used for my layout connecting shelf.  How wide are you going with the shelf?

Chief,  The pictures are showing on my computer?  Can anyone else see them?

An early good morning from Gettysburg.  Up at 4:00 am instead of the usual 5:00.  Couldn't sleep anymore so I figured I might  as well get up and stop in for a cup this AM.  Beautiful weather.  The Mrs. has the windows open and I think the combination of my allergies and the traffic on the road in front of the house woke me up early.

Things at work are really pretty busy as we are coming into the home stretch.  New teacher orientation week starts today.  We've got six new teachers this year and an addition to the building as well as a renovation.  Never dull.  Our population is a little smaller as we have moved Grade 5 to a different campus until the new elementary school opens in August 2008.  They started grading the site about two weeks ago.

Checked out the rail cars Colin posted.  Seems they are surplus from the great state of Nawth Carolina.   Chief  you should bid on them.  Make for some interesting yard decorations....

Mike C - you are in our thoughts and prayers for your Mom and Lucas.  Hopefully things will turn around again soon.   How's the new grandbaby...  My wife's sister is going to be a Grandma again.  They are thrilled.

Well, I'll close for now.

Take care,

Mitch

Good morning all,

It is cloudy and humid in SE Indiana with temps in the low 80s today.  I may have a busy weekend on tap.  Since my car pooling person is at the Gen-Con (a computer gaming convention), I am going straight from work to Bloomington this afternoon to see the grandson (and maybe mow the yard).  Saturday morning, I am supposed to referee two youth soccer games, and Sunday I may go to Kentucky Speedway to watch the IRL race (depending on several factors).  My mom was eating some food yesterday and they are supposed to run some tests on her today to see what is causing the swallowing difficulties and maybe some more blood tests.  Lucas had a friend over last night and seemed to be feeling ok.  He ate well at supper, but he still sleeps a lot.

Laz 57, I really liked your layout pictures.  The baseball field looks nice, but you need a soccer field as well :-)  I think tmcc man would agree with me there.  Chief, 6x6 posts!  My back hurts just thinking about trying to lift one of those puppies, let alone digging a hole for them.  Somebody hits one of those and I guarantee they won't be on your property again!  CSXT 30, take it easy on the overtime.  I used to do that a lot when I had a factory job during the summer in my college days.  The money is good, but time sure does slip away.  Blueberry Hill, thanks for the updates on Buckeye.

Everybody, again, thanks for all the support.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana
