Got the grub killer down just in time for a thunder shower - bet we still play Little League tonight - last game. I managed to get myself involved in what became a gigantic project - my bride wanting to fit a footboard for a double bed on our queen bed. Already used my model railroad skills to figure out the headboard, but the footboard had a weird u -bolt in it. Anyway, took all afternoon (thank goodness the bride was still away) trashed the bedroom but ended up building the equivalent of a little trestle to connect it to the bed-frame. Model railroading saves the day again. I'm just waiting for it all to collapse when the 4 year old tries to hang off it...

DougM - don't blame me for you skipping work and working remotely, [;)][;)] but I had another great day off. Think I'll talk to my boss about working remotely, but it might be tough to handle discipline via long distance. We went to Lancaster PA for some shopping today, made the Mrs. happy. After some outlet shopping, we went to the TCA National Toy Train Museum. We had lunch at the Red Caboose Restaurant which is right next door. Stopped in at the ChooChoo Barn and poked around the train shops. Saw a pair of used Williams FA's decorated in Western Maryland red, white and black colors, that I might have liked to had for $135, but the train budget is empty for a while now. Need to start saving up for the TCA Meet in October.

Have a great night.

Evening all!

Beautiful day here today - high was 92. Nice breeze this morning - drove with the windows down.

On our local news last night they did a piece on Miami TX to coincide with the Mavs-Heat game in Miami FL. Miami TX is in the TX panhandle. Thye had great train shots. The mayor there said a train comes hauling through the middle of town every 4 -10 min essentially 24/7. The trains were all BNSF.

Have a great evening all!

TMCC and Railsounds upgrade done. It all works. [:0] OH, there is a pot for volume on the side and you can adjust. Did not have too as this one is loud. Will go back and check the U36B I did several weeks ago. Checked pond. Within the banks now. One bridge I built to cross the little creek is gone. Shot at the two beavers. Got one I think. [:0] Water had gone over the emergency spillway next to the big concrete sewer manhole that is about 3 feet out of the ground. It helped protect the dam. Water cut a ditch about 1 1/2 feet deep and about a foot wide next to that big rock you saw in the picture. Rock saved the day too. Cut down to rock too. Bridge at spillway had been under water but was in place. Water going over spillway about two feet deep when I was there. Corn blown down in garden. Tried to set it up and too muddy. Boot went under the mud. Later.

Good morning from Gettysburg. It's 55 outside now, it's supposed to get to 80 with sunny skies.

Well no vacation today. [:(] I'll work today and then take off tomorrow for our anniversary. I wouldn't want to shock my system by working two days in a row[}:)]. Today should be a relatively calm day. Only one meeting and then the rest of the day playing catch up with mail and little projects.

Have a great day.

Morning all,
Bob, good to see you up dark early. I keep meaning to mention that I hope to catch up with ya some day as another interest of mine is the civil war battlefields. Some day, I hope to bring the wife and kids to your town as I hear they had a little skirmish up that way., Then it would be off to Strasburg.
Chief, glad to see that you came through the storm in fair shape. We hardly had any of the flooding or damage, just a good bit of rain and it made the trees move a bit. I do hope to get to do some mowing today. It is getting so high, that I doubt the tractor can cut it on one pass.
Hope y'all have a good day. Take care,
Dennis

Woke up with allergies in full tilt. My wife added another cat into our household so I don't know whether it's the cat or the outside world. Hope all is well with all. Still thinking a homer city trip is in the near future. Just hope Jim has something I like.

Good morning all,

It is sunny and mild in SE Indiana with temps heading to the mid 80s today and the humidity will be rising. MartyE, I sympathized with your allergy situation. Our friends have some cats that I can not be around much either although we had a short hair for years without it affecting me. Jefelectric, I agree with you about the southwest and trains. We went to San Diego via the southern route (I-40) and saw lots of trains running alongside. Doug, it is good to see the modeling skills are being put to good use. It makes it so much better getting along with the significant other when they can see some usefulness in our hobby. Chief, glad to hear you did not get washed away.

We had a soccer game last night. It would have been nice if we had shown up to play. We had some chances to win or tie, but we got beat 3-2, and it probably should not have been that close. I played all three positions at one time or another, and I did have one scoring opportunity, but I could not reach the ball in time. Oh, well, we get to play two games next week, weather permitting. I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

My daughter's kindergarten graduation was adorable to say the least. The kids sang a few songs, read a couple of poems, then got their diplomas. They all came out with little mortar board hats on. Too darned cute. Memories I'll hold on to dearly for the rest of my life. It really is true, material things, money, status, none of it holds a candle to having loved ones, and boy, do I love that little one.

Off to the Boston Pops tonight. Heading in on a bus with a bunch from church. Tonight's program is based in large part on the music of Leonard Bernstein. What does a famous composer do when he dies? Decomposes!

Chief, enjoy your trip and enjoy that club layout!

Another day in the 90's here today and more of the same into next week.

Picked up some 1/32" basswood yesterday to start cutting 6" (1/8") planks for the construction of an abandoned ranch. I'm hoping that after building the buildings and punching a few holes in the walls, that wetting everything down, or using a water based stain, will cause warping to give that delapidated effect.

Wish we had a bit of that rain that reached Chief, we had more cloud than precip.

Good afternoon,

Another beautifu day. The rain last evening was a bust. It rumbled, the sky got dark and the wind blew. We got enough rain to wet the sidewalks. Didn't get wet under the trees.

Trainwise I am working on building a stockyard from Basswood strips.

Have a major rabbit problem in the back yard. We have a family of them living under our gazebo. So tame that this afternoon I threw 3 stones at one before he would run off. Was setting eating impatient in the flower bed. They seem to like the flowers better than the vegies in the garden? Guess I will have to use the Chief's beaver tactics. [:D][:D][:D]

Good Evening All!
Rumors of my demise are highly exagerated, although my computer has just about bitten the dust. I appologize for not reporting in earlier but with the computer acting up as it has, it was hardly worth booting up lately. I hope to have a new one within the next month and promise to be back in the pot regularily.
Work on the layout has all but ground to a halt. I suppose it's a common pitfall in the hobby that once you've got some trains up and running you tend to forget that the layout is far from finished. I'm stuck, trying to decide whether to just fini***he scenery around the existing track plan or reconfigure and expland the layout for added running interest.
This doesn't mean I've lost interest.....oh no no no! I've had a major field day buying engines and rolling stock recently. It would seem that I've strayed from my original prewar era, mostly steam powered scene and progressed into quite a bit of first generation desiels....in fact the desiels handily outnumber the steam locos right now.
Anyhoo....I'll sign off for now. See y'all again as soon as the new 'puter arrives. Take care everyone!

'Sposed to be hot this weekend, just in time for me to mow the yard and do some needed work around the outside. Only get to get on here at night or on days off, so took a while to read all the pot since I was on last - Sounds like everyone is getting ready for vacations, enjoying their kids, and having some good train luck!

My kids are growing like weeds and I can't get over how much they've grown up in the past year! I picked up a video game for my nintendo ds called Animal Crossing. Basically, you've got a little character who moves into a new town (cartoon animal people) and you have to pay off your mortgage, earn money, make friends -- it's like Sims for kids, I guess (never played that game). Anyway, each of us has our own character living in the town and we take turns playing it. Turns out my daughter is a little dynamo - she's paying off the mortgage like crazy, plus writing letters to my son and I with presents in them, etc. If anyone has kids who like video games, this is a good one to share. If we get another game chip, we could put it in my son's NDS and move back and forth between two towns.... I got the game on ebay for about 1/2 price in great condition, too.

Was going through Kirkwood MO and then downtown to STL last week and the beginning of this week. There are some tracks right along I-44 and each day I saw all kinds of BNSF and Santa Fe locomotives - don't know Diesel's very well, but they had about 5 or 6 different engines all moving in and out as I drove past at about 70MPH, Monday morning.

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Un eventful day. The kitten went to the vet and all is well with her. Haven't been down in the train room for some time but am looking forward to a trip to Homer City tomorrow. Looks like Jim maybe getting a visitor. Hopefully nothing gets in the way of that. Hope everyone has a great evening. Not too bad weather wise here. Still just right temp wise.

Morning all. Gardening to do before flying out to Texass. Plans are to meet up with Roy tomorrow to see the club layout. Looking forward to it.
John, get a rabbit box. Catch them and send them to David for BB to chase. [;)]
We use to have them at the back door here all summer. Got the boys [dogs] and they moved away. Burg the black lab will catch them if they get into our garden. Word got passed throughout the rabbit kingdom and they moved down the street. Out to the garden I go. Have a good one and God bless.

Have a great trip, Chief. And happy Father's Day!

We went to the Boston Pops concert last night. The bus ride in was an ordeal. Evidently there was some foot race going on that blocked off a lot of streets in the city. Round and round we went looking for a route to Symphony Hall. We arrived just in time. There were a lot of empty seats for the first half of the program. The show started at 8:00 and we got there at 7:55. Got home late (after 11:00). Fell asleep close to midnight, then woke up at 5:00 to go to work. Yeah, I'm tired.

Had some great tasting water at the show. It was from Tuscany.

Good morning all,

It is sunny and warm in SE Indiana with the temps and humidity heading toward the 80s today. Chief, have a safe trip out west. Jefelecltric, I understand about your rabbit problem. I agree with the Chief's solution where you can let the dogs run free, otherwise a cat will take care of the little ones so you don't have to worry about the big ones later on. Bruce, welcome back to the coffee pot. Has anyone heard from tmcc-man lately? I may have missed some pages, but he may be too busy watching the World Cup games. A crucial game is on tomorrow for the US team because a loss would eliminate them from the next round. Even with a win, they might need some help to advance. I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Just a quick visit whilst waiting for everyone to get ready before we leave on our trip. Going to go around Chicago to Indianapolis, Louisville, Lexington and stop at Knoxville tonight, then tomorrow Asheville, Columbia, Hilton Head. (heard a kid got bit by a shark there a few days ago - won't be sharing that with the kids). Last night's recital was the ultimate ordeal - 3 and a half-hours; 49 separate dance numbers - yes, I counted. All kinds of technical fiascos. It was rather funny. I finally argued with my bride to take the boys home to bed and I waited until the bitter end to congratulate my daughter and take her home - and yes, she was in the 2nd number and the next to last one. Ah, the joys of parenthood. She's defnitely taking the summer off from this. Have a great Father's Day! See you on the 26th
Good Morning from Blueberryhill
It is 53 degrees and sunny. Not a cloud in the sky. It will
be going up to 83 today and remain sunny.
The last couple of nights, I have been sleeping all night. First time since I came home.
I guess things are healing up OK. Pain is minimal, unless I do something stupid,
like lift concrete blocks.
Today will be a normal day. Work around the house. I have to refinish a roll top desk.
Maybe go down to the train room and get things ready for a finishing paint job. Then
I have to get busy with the trolley tracks and scenery.
Time for breakfast. Talk later.
Y'all have a great day.

Good morning from Gettysburg.

Doug and Chief - hope you have good trips. Chief - I am sure Texas could use some rain, but no floods please. Doug - Your dance recital story sounds like torture. Next Friday night I get to be tortured at the dance recital for my wife's nieces. Fun, fun - I get to take a day off and drive 2 hours in Washington DC area traffic to a recital that will last till who knows when and then drive home. Almost as much fun as when my son "played" (rode the bench) football in Jr. High and High School. At least some times the football games were interesting. They had some good kids on the teams, too bad the head coach was a fool.

Got some jobs to do around here. Family is coming for Father's Day. Just some clean up and odd jobs.

Have a great day.

Ah yes, dance recitals[:D] I am now working the 3rd week of the 5 weeks we allow dance recitals, I can relate to your agony. Dance studios are making huge money from these events and so are the florists! I could tell you several horror stories involving parents/police/and dance studio owners. Interesting time of the year for me, glad we had boys.
