Good morning from a foggy Gettysburg. It is currently 50 degrees with highs forecast for 68. Could get a few more showers.

I did get the grass mowed yesterday so that is one chore that is done for this week.

The Mrs. came home from her weekend away. I miss that gal when she is away. She is going away in week or two to visit a sister. I don't mind but I still miss her.

Have a great day.

I finally got around to opening up the new Williams Alcos this weekend. Boy, they are nice looking trains. I got the silver UP set. Real beauties. Great bell. Lousy horn.

Glad to hear that Chuck is on the road to recovery. Not surprised by the way things went for him, but glad the worst is behind him. I'll try to call him in the next few days.

Got some serious work done on the station over the past few days. Looks 100% better than it did before.

Good morning all,

It is sunny and heading to the 70s again in SE Indiana. It was a nice weekend to be out and about in Indiana. Worked out in the yard picking up sticks and trimming dead wood off some trees on Sunday. Also washed the wife's vehicle for her. Saturday went to visit the older daughter and her daughter. The Beech Grove library has a nice two track "G" scale railroad that moves around the ceiling in the children's section, which is just down the street from where my daughter lives. Wife was looking for a new stove as well. I watched the F-1 race on Sunday. It was pretty good. I did run the 384E twice this weekend. The box car is tracking better on the rails, but it still makes me nervous to run it. I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good Morning All from NE Ohio

where the temp is 44 and going up to 50 with overcast skies. What a cool down from yesterday when we were in the high 60’s.

OTTS Meeting this Friday. Anyone wishing to join us can e-mail me for directions. Updates on York and OTTS meetings with MTH and Lionel for the museum layout.

Roy – great pics from York meeting. The OTTS boys left for home late Friday morning, so they missed the meeting.

Chief – are you going to be busy building your bench work [?]

Good to hear that Chuck is in his own room ! ! !

Pick of the Day

All be safe

I mowed the lawn for the first time this year on Friday. It rained here most of the weekend and continues today. My lawn is a lush green oasis.

Good Morning All:

Another nice day here in Chicagoland. I have a golf outing for work today (I know, I have a tough job). It was a fantastic weekend. My son and I got to run trains on the table I built on Friday (check out my website to see my unprofessional construction) and the White Sox extended their win streak to eight games.

Even though I just built the table, I am now looking at ways to expand it. Since I used a packing crate (The crate house a larged framed picture), I have the other side of the crate that can be used as another table top. While that will mean more advanced construction, I am going to give it a shot.

Regards,

John

Sunny and cool in Chicago - a nice day for John's golf outing. Had a bunch of ankle-biters over on Sunday after church to see the trains. Got a big puff of smoke from the transformer when one of 'em plopped another engine on the powered rails. Surprised the heck out of me - thought it was out of reach. Also celebrated my train buddy's 60th birthday by working on his layout in front of party guests. Felt like a zoo exhibit. Borrowed a great book on the North Shore line. Now contemplating how I'm going to dismantle my layout before scheduling the radon guys. Will try Chuck later today.

Morning all!

Cloudy and might rain here today [yeah]

Doug - hope that transformer is OK. Puff of smoke is not usually a good sign.

All - check out the photo's (see his thread - "my first layout") of John's (johnand julie13) layout. The photo of his son smiling is priceless!

Still recovering from the York trip - my wallet that is!

Have a great day all!
Roy

I hear you, Roy. But everything continued to work so I'm resolutely closing my eyes and ears to the possibilities... [B)]
I just talked to Chuck. I interrupted his lunch. He sounds Great. [:D]
Mourn with me. The 'radon guys' are coming Friday morning so the Junction Traction Company is going into temporary receivership - come to think of it, much like its prototypes. I think I'll take a final run around the layout tonight, and start taking things down. [:(]

Good luck Doug - hope nothing gets damaged.

Seems like it's bright and sunny outside. Sitting on the couch watching dvds and contemplating about 10 more days of this. think I'll load up some CAD software on the laptop and start working on layout plans etc.

Talked my wife out of moving last night. While the new house would be bigger, I like the current location, schools, etc. With the basement almost finished. Plus, now it looks really nice and new again with new siding and a new roof!

Good afternoon, everyone!

Glad to hear that Chuck is alright!

Hope things go alright with the radon guys, Doug. Hopefully the Junction Traction Co. will be back in operation soon!

Well, just one more day and I'll be completely done with my first year of university. My English final is tomorrow afternoon.

I went to the antique sale on Saturday, but the only trains were some N scale stuff and an overpriced Tri-ang tender. I did, however, pick up a copy of the November 1962 Meccano Magazine in mint condition. Lots of stuff on Hornby trains and real railways in it. Too bad the seller didn't have more issues. There's also a big charity used book sale going on at one of the malls that lasts all week, with new items every day and dirt cheap prices. I can go hog wild at these things and have already bought 20 books at it.

I was planning to head home early Wednesday morning, but have changed my plans. This morning, I went to the university to sell back my old textbooks and came across a poster on a bulletin board advertising historic tours at Casino Regina all this week. Casino Regina is located in Regina's old Union Station, which, sadly, last saw passenger train service in 1990 when the Canadian made its final run on CP before going to its current route on CN. I went there and got a ticket to go on the tour Wednesday at 1:00. I'm really looking forward to it.

Hello everyone,
School was boring as usual, but other than that, not much else to say. I am sitting here typing, and listening to some music. I might turn the Railradio.com on for a while.

Hello to all. Have been too busy to get on line. One weekend I removed old RR ties from deteriorated landscaping at a friends house. The ties were wet and heavy. I used a pry bar and hauled them out with a 2 wheel truck. This weekend we put in new landscaping. She and I set 1872 lbs. of landscaping bricks and spread 1400 lbs. of topsoil. It was great weather for it but it was a full 4 hours each day including the trips to Home Depot. I used a 2 wheel truck to move the materials rather than a wheel barrow. Next weekend she will buy some evergreen shrubs and flowers and plant those. It's great exercise. Other than that, I am fishing when weather permits. Sunday May 7 there is a train show here in KC so I rented a table so I can try to sell some Railking reefers and 2 Railking locos. Cheers.

Sask - It must be a good feeling having that 1st year out of the way. Congratulations.

Went back to work today after a week of vacation. It was hard getting back into the swing of things. I've been watching the Sabres game and they are having a great night so far.

Laz- When you get the 5th star does that mean that you buy? We could have quite a party.

Have a good night everyone.

Doug M, thanks for calling Chuck. Was going to but got busy then I thought it was too late. He loves to get calls.

Tom, no bench work today. Plans was to get walkin ready to paint but spent over half the day at State Employees' CU and then on teh phone with them. Over a computer payment of a bill. They are now saying they are sorry and will pay any late fees. [?]

Watched HBO's Elizabeth I [both parts] which ended tonight. Pretty good.

Now top bed. Got to mow [as rain and fertilizer makes grass green and grow] tomorrow and get hair cut for trip to Houston TX Thursday. Roseyville let me alone today. [:)]

Tom, good job on the custom build layout. [^]

Good night.

Good morning all - feeling a lot better today.

Checked out the CHRISTmas catalog from Lionel online and I guess I need to get the Polar Express handcar and extra figures! That G-gauge train looks pretty cool too for under the tree.

Mickey4479 - sounds like a lot of back breaking work man! Since I'm on restrictions, I asked the guy across the street for the number for his lawn service. I haven't mowed in 2 weeks since I was sick last week and then had surgery. His daughter and son-in-law have a lawn service and are supposed to come over today. I'm hoping I can pay them extra to clean out the neighbors' garbage from my trees at the back of my property. they don't cover their trash and it blows back into my trees and brush back there.

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Morning, everyone.

Chief, if you get any rain, send it a little farther south. It's DRY down here!

Jim, glad to hear you're feeling better.

Waiting on the arrival of my latest purchase - a DR 6hp Big Wheel String trimmer for my woods and ditches. Regular weed eater takes too long and string not strong enough for vines. Can't get my lawn tractor in there. Decided to bite the bullet (they were on sale with free shipping) after tearing up an old push mower that wasn't designed for the job.
'Course, with the price of gas, I might have been smarter to buy some goats and let them clear the weeds and vines!
