Welcom trainmans2, how about letting us know what part of the country you are from.

Chris, hope you get that job.

It has been a beautiful day here.

Don, It is a little tough to make out much detail with the image size limitation on the forum. How about posting a link to the full image so we can check it out.

Happy birthday Chris and a big welcome to Trainmans2.

In between working on setting up the pool I've been painting the people I bought from Walthers for the layout and starting to do a little housekeeping on the layout in preparation for the photo shoot. Its a go for April 20, publication, only Niel and associates will know if and when.

Took a look at my K-Line E8's that had started to develope a bucking problem. I thought maybe something loose inside but didn't have to go that far. I found two traction tires coming off the wheels. one each unit. Now all I have to do is figure how to remove the sides of the trucks so I can get a little rubber cement into the grooves and reinstall the tires. That's a job for a rainy afternoon, maybe tomorrow.

Don, I have some idea of what your going through. A number of years ago I did an upgrade to storage facilities at a chemical plant in Anahiem and the requirements were fringing on lunitic. By increasing the "capacity" of the plant we had to prove, certify, that we would not require additional parking and relocating the entrance gate 10' to the side was like trying to get an amendment to the constitution. I was glad when that job was done and over with.

You can always run your Trains on our Layout.[;)][:)] & you can be a valuable ally in the War against the Al-Grits-Zerra Network based out of Roseyville. Take Care all.

Welcome Trainman 2

Mr. Doug Murphy,
I found something you might like on e-bay. Your neighbors would be jealous. You and Mrs. Murphy could take turns being the conductor.

Good morning to all and welcome trainmans2.

Another long day at work yesterday. Assistant Principal is out today. Hope natives are not so restless today [;)][;)][;)].

Doug Murphy - That trolley that the guys found for you looks just like what you need. I can just imagine seeing you out there in your backyard with your conductor's hat giving all the neighborhood kids a ride. Shucks, you could charge a buck or two a ride and earn some extra train $$$.[}:)][}:)][}:)][;)][;)][;)]

Just goes to show how crowded it is up north, everyone lives close enough to get together to form clubs. Down here in the south we have enough room that we can spread out. Heck, Dennis and I live in the same state and we're hours apart. I think there are also a few that drop in occasionally from the Atlanta area but it can take an hour of two just to get around Atlanta. That's due to all the yankees that've moved south and can't get away from the crowd instinct.[:D]

Roger, How right you are. We don't need a club, more room for individual layouts. Also, less problems with local restrictions.

Doug, how's the wife's back? Hope she is getting back to full healthy mom status so that you can have a little rest. I never work as hard as I do when filling in for mom. Anyway, have a good day.

Good morning all,

It is cloudy and warm in SE Indiana with temps currently in the 60s. Stormy weather is expected today, but the weekend is supposed to be nice. There is a little event called the Final Four which takes place in Indy this weekend, which should make life interesting around here. I played some indoor soccer last night. I am a bit sore today, but it was fun. Tmcc man, I hope you feel better soon. Welcome to Trainmans2. I hope you enjoy the "coffee pot". It is a fun bunch here. I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good AM to all. Off to a seminar on Health Law today. Its going to be sunny and about 65 for a high. The walleye are starting to move in on the dam at a local lake around 9 PM preparing for the spring spawn. I might try fishing next week. Ran the PRR B6s with a short 6 car string for 30 minutes yesterday. Good health to all.

a little something that landed in my email box...

How do these people survive?

ONE Recently, when I went to McDonald's I saw on the menu that you could have an order of 6, 9 or 12 Chicken McNuggets. I asked for a half dozen nuggets. "We don't have half dozen nuggets," said the teenager at the counter. "You don't?" I replied. "We only have six, nine, or twelve," was the reply. "So I can't order a half dozen nuggets, but I can order six?" "That's right." So I shook my head and ordered six McNuggets

TWO I was checking out at the local Wal-Mart with just a few items and the lady behind me put her things on the belt close to mine. I picked up one of those "dividers" that they keep by the cash register and placed it between our things so they wouldn't get mixed. After ! the girl had scanned all of my items, she picked up the "divider", looking it all over for the bar code so she could scan it. Not finding the bar code she said to me, "Do you know how much this is?" I said to her "I've changed my mind, I don't think I'll buy that today." She said "OK," and I paid her for the things and left. She had no clue to what had just happened.

THREE A lady at work was seen putting a credit card into her floppy drive and pulling it out very quickly. When I inquired as to what she was doing, she said she was shopping on the Internet and they kept asking for a credit card number, so she was using the ATM "thingy."

FOUR I recently saw a distraught young lady weeping beside her car. "Do you need some help?" I asked. She replied, "I knew I should have replaced the battery to this remote door unlocker. Now I can't get into my car. Do you think they (pointing to a distant convenience store) would have a battery to fit this?" "Hmmm, I dunno. Do you have an alarm, too?" I asked. "No, just this remote thingy," she answered, handing it and the car keys to me. As I took the key and manually unlocked the door, I replied, "Why don't you drive over there and check about the batteries. It's a long walk."

FIVE Several years ago, we had an Intern who was none too swift. One day she was typing and turned to a secretary and said, "I'm almost out of typing paper. What do I do?" "Just use copier machine paper," the secretary told her. With that, the intern took her last remaining blank piece of paper, put it on the photocopier and proceeded to make five "blank" copies.

SIX I was in a car dealership a while ago, when a large motor home was towed into the garage. The front of the vehicle was in dire need of repair and the whole thing generally looked like an extra in "Twister." I asked the manager what had happened. He told me that the driver had set the "cruise control" and then went in the back to make a sandwich.

SEVEN My neighbor works in the operations department in the central office of a large bank. Employees in the fie! ld call him when they have problems with their computers. One night he got a call from a woman in one of the branch banks who had this question: "I've got smoke coming from the back of my terminal. Do you guys have a fire downtown?"

EIGHT Police in Radnor, Pa., interrogated a suspect by placing a metal colander on his head and connecting it with wires to a photocopy machine. The message "He's lying" was placed in the copier, and police pressed the copy button each time they thought the suspect wasn't telling the truth. Believing the "lie detector" was working, the suspect confessed.

BONUS: And if you go to Some Dairy Queens you may not be able to buy a pint of ice cream.
They may be out of the pint soft serve cups. And they can't put it in a soft-drink 16 oz cup cause that is not a pint,.. go figure. True in hillsboro. Il

Everyone has heard the story of the little engine that could,
this is a story of the BIG engine that cant.
from what i have heard that the MTH Big Boy is the largest O gauge locomotive that was
mass produced. impressive and powerful, this monster can handle 40 diecast frieght cars
but on my layout i run around 12 and cab. the sounds of the 4000 class makes my mind wonder out west. Sherman Hill . but last saturday I stopped short of a crossover and did some switching on the main and the Big One went silent. and it didnot hit another lick.
good thing i spotted her on the front side of the layout cause this loco is heavy nearly
16 lbs. a hand full. well i have her spotted over on the other layout in the living room on display.
hopefully i can get it into the shop. maybe CSXT-30 and his friends in motive power can
get her rolling again.
weather is nice rain this evening.
saturday is a train show in salem looking forward to that.
week went well this week and all concerned was pleased with the work that the gang did in
the Lomax siding MP I-19.
hello to all in the POT
Ill get me a glass of sweet tea and some grits[:D][:D]

Yes Jim, I am planning on going to the show this weekend. Not sure what I'm going to walk out of there with though. I have been talking with a buddy of mine about starting another club here in MA. Hasn't really gone off the ground yet, all we talk about is how kool it would be to have a HUGE club layout.

Morning all,

Doug, You have got to bid on that Jolly Trolley. You can probably get a lot of volunteers on the pot to help lay the track. All the guys from OTTS![:D]

Great day here, leaving shortly to babysit two granddaughters for a few hours. May get back in time to do a little yard work.

Tom, I love that doughnut shop scene. Think I will send that to and ex-cop friend.[:)]

Dave, some good ones there.

Chief, Sounds like you are enjoying your stay in FL.

Oh my gosh, I need that trolley. Talk about large scale. It would be so great to run - it even has a bell and light - I could run at night too. Think of what the neighbors would say as we went by... Think of what they would say as I laid track for it. I can just see the conversation with my wife now - honey, I want to spend our savings on a trolley for the backyard. Boy, I wish I could afford it. One of the benefits of O gauge traction is its affordability (at least to me)
Paul, how do you find these things?
And charging for a ride is a great idea, Mitch. I could recoup my fortune. This sounds just like some of the sales talks for bond-sellers of the real interubans of the early last century.
David, I have a new colleague whom I directed to get copier paper for her printer. So what did she do - instead of taking a ream of paper from the stacks of copier paper boxes - she ran 400 blank copies off the machine. I was pretty surprised. There is a magazine called Computerworld that I get just for stories such as this...
Colin, I hope you feel better.
Jim, I found a huge high-volume air filter by the brand you pictured in your tree-making thread for $7 at Ace Hardware - it's gotta be 4 by 5 ft. and is the only one I've seen made up of scraggly twisty plastic that I can seemingly cut up to skewer on my extra trolley poles for some conifers. It wasn't fuzzy though - It doesn't look quite right though. I'll try to get a photo this Sun.
Dennis, thank you for asking! I'm going to get her some Aleve but she's reluctant to take anything - thinking it's going to fix itself with rest (which as you noted is tough to do).

Funny you should say that. I guess now is as good a time as any to tell you. As of June 30, we are relocating to Raleigh, NC of all places. I was offered a very good opportunity back in February, and my wife and I have decided to go for it. Both of us have had enough of the harsh winters up here anyway. Now the kids will be able to play outside more often. Same company, just relocation. The great news is that they will buy our home at market value and pay for all moving related expenses.

Gonna have to get used to grits and sweet iced tea I reckon. Will also have to learn to talk and move much slower to fit in.

Morning all!

All the rain went to the far north of us yesterday. Went to 85 yesterday and breezy.

Slow day today. Will try to get some projects done.

MAde it to the club meeting last night and shot some more videos of the Empire State Express with all 7 cars and the K-Line Suburban with a couple of passenger cars. I will post for Sunday Photo fun.

Colin - get well soon. Sorry you have been feeling so poorly for so long. Mono is the "kissing" disease. Been successful chasing those young ladies recently?

Have a great one all!
