Good evening all,

Steve, you will be in my thoughts and prayers. I really appreciate how this group rallies around it's own, and I am more than happy to do this for anybody. Doug, Congrats on the five stars! This is truly a great forum to be on and I look forward to reading about everybody else's exploits each day. It was a wet and warm day in SE Indiana and I did get to see the local train go thru town. The consist was 8 gondolas and 3 tank cars. I did the housework and went to the Y. We have been watching old episodes of "Angel" on DVD lately. I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Barkeep, a round for the house on me! (Roy, the check is in the mail.)
Mmmm, cheese grits. Isn't Cracker Barrel the nicest chain, Chief?
Got another house full of teens for another hour - after the big high school dance. I'm glad they like to come here - even if I have to get up in another 5 hours.

Foggy and spooky here tonight - after a fair amount of rain.
Chris, I'm on the 'video team' at our church too - only three cameras and two switchers in the video room - there five projectors / five screens. I'm going to call the services tomorrow for the first time.

I finished kit-bashing what started as a battery-powered K-Line GP-9 tonight whilst waiting for the dance to end. Now, I have a one-truck shorty unit that looks like a Beep - and what I hope to finish out as a one-truck B unit. I'll try to take photos if there's any juice left in the batteries after my daughter's through with the camera tonight. Then I have to find a pair of pantagraphs for each. Anybody know a source?

Some of you may have seen this, hopefully it works in your area too.

This is pretty nifty.
Just enter your zip code in the site below, and it tells you which gas stations have the cheapest prices (and the highest) on gas in your zip code area. It's updated every evening.

Too bad that doesn't work in the Safari browser, Don. Here's another interesting site: http://zillow.com - quite the real estate site by one of the inventors of Expedia. come to think of it - they don't support the Safari browser either.

I noticed Joe Bolton visiting the forum right now - I'd like to thank him for his sacrifice in serving in Afghanistan! I think I inadvertently gave him a promotion on another thread. Funny how I just re-read the CTT article on his old layout a little while ago.

Hi guys - late here - been watching the bad weather go through on the news to make sure we are in the clear. Spent the whole day putting in the shower stall. Attached the drain to the stall, put it in place, lined up and cut the pipes, took stall out, cut the roughed in pipe, redid the above, finally set it and glued it all up - total time about 6 hours including a trip to HD. Man - pvc glue stinks!

Funny thing - the drain is a no-caulk model and has 2 different gaskets on it. Anyway, one is fat and soft the other thin and tougher. I put the thing on the shower stall whith the gaskets in the order they were on the drain. I keep wondering if that was right or if someone reversed them in the store or something - I guess I'll find out - will dump a few gallons in the shower tomorrow and see where it goes! I already bought caulk to go over it.

Went to dinner with our friends at Crackerbarrel - yummy. Then checked out their new house - they do the walk through tomorrow and close Friday. It was storming. There were damp spots on 2 walls at points where the rebar comes through the cement - that's not good. The builder will have to dig down and seal it on the outside, I'd guess? Then grade the soil away from the house - they put it all flat right up to the house, so I'm sure there is a pool of water out there now.

Watched Working on the Railroad on DIY - cool show all about animations on toy train layouts! I have the lumberjacks one they showed. Since we switched to cable, I don't get RFDTV anymore. Will have to watch The Trainshow online.

Waiting for siding match for the insurance and contractor to fini***heir process and get our new roof and at least some new siding.

Still thinking about moving. It would give me a nice open basement for a layout plus a workshop in the garage instead of the basement, which would be nice! A real estate lady who worked with our friends came by and gave us the hardsell to sell our house, but I would want to fini***he basement to maximize the profit. It's all framed (check my website). Would just need to fini***he plumbing, run the electric, put in the insulation I already bought, and then get "the boys" over for a drywall weekender. If we are moving, I would just put up a few light fixtures and drywall the ceilings instead of doing a drop ceiling. Basically, about 10 long days of work for rough, then would come finish carpentry and painting. I guess we'd put in cheap carpeting too and some vinly in the bathroom.

Oh well - decisions decisions decisions!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Good morning from a damp and dreary Gettysburg. Currently 50 degrees with a chance of thunderstorms and rain.

Another busy day. Brother in law and 2 nieces should be here soon. Rest of the family in the afternoon. Should be fun. I'll be grillin some chicken. Hope the weather holds off so I don't have grill in the garage or under the umbrella.

Have a great day.

No soldier honorably discharged should feel out of place at Arlington. Arlington should never be a cemetery for generals only.

Boy did I do something stupid. I took the bait and got in on that MTH vs Lionel lawsuit thing. BOOM. All of a sudden both sides are accusing me of one thing or another. If any of you all see me post on that or any other politically charged topic--please remind me to delete the post and stay out of it.

Cool and rainy in W. Lafayette.

I think I'll play with trains today.

Roy--

I was looking at the TCA home page and noticed the TCA meet in San Antonio, Have you ever attended that meet and if yes, how was it? Two road blocks keep us away from York--distance and time of year (both times), couldn't be scheduled at a worse time of year for me.

Thanks.

Jon

NStrackman - I know a number of posts have passed since you asked, boy a lot happens when you try to get some sleep and/or work done, but here's my opinion about TCA's roll.

From what I've seen TCA is most interested in misrepresentation, i.e. that something is mint when it has been restored, rather than cost of goods. I think it is the responsibilty of the selling party to have an idea of what items are worth. Though it may seem unethical to purchase things below market, under these circumstances you also have to see the side that if bought as a lot there are things that may have little value and others that will sit for a long period tieing up resources.

In the past when selling used equipment, business related, I was glad to get $0.50 on the $. Likewise if I bought used equipment I knew what new cost and usually started with an offer of $0.50 on the $.

Already in the mid 60's and climbing, at this rate it'll be in the 80's for sure later on. I was out putting down weed & feed and worked up quite a sweat.

Today is devoted to odd jobs that have been waiting on nice weather. That is until 4 p.m. when the race comes on. If the race doesn't run too long I'll spend some time running the trains, or at least the rug loop in the TV room.

Good morning getting ready for Church. Weather man last evening said we could be in for some heavy storms. Sure enough, just as I was logging on, the tornado sirens went off. [:0]Weather reports now show something but moving away from my location at this time. [:)]Check you later.

Steve. My Dad sent that same item about Captain K. and Lee Marvin. My Dad is a Marine of the WWII era. I got drafted into the Marines in Oct. 1969. I had a football knee at the time and rather than doing surgery on me they cut me loose. So boot camp was all I saw.

Good morning everyone
Well, it is rainy here, thought it was going to be nice out. Guess I was wrong. As I am typing this, I can hear the NS freight moving along my grandparents house. Sounds like a Dash9 is at the lead.

Steve, there are a good many that cruise the train forums looking for controversy and more than willing to flame anyone who doesn't agree with their point of view. If you notice, many of those posting to the lawsuit, MTH vs Lionel products, etc. discussions only show up when there is controversy. Usually if you ignore them they get tired of arguing with each other and go away.

It is still pretty ugly out. No rain, but there is a little fog coming out. I am listening to jokes from one of the funniest comedians, Dane Cook. He is hysterical.
