Dougdagrump,

How'd you make out with North East Trains? I've had trouble e-mailing them in the past too. They do answer the telephone though.

The boss just came in and asked me if I could stay late to work on some last minute rush job. Looks like it's going to be a 12+ hour day here. I've already been here since 6AM. Wonder what time I'll get home . . . Not a problem. More money to spend on trains.

Chief,
Got the number. I hope you get better real quick. Don't let the Yankee bug get you down! We will be heading out around noon tomorrow, so will be there late afternoon. If you are up for dinner, we can do it. As Roger mentioned, the museum is neat, has an old roundhouse and some old engines in the process of restoration.
Dr. John,
Glad they got those guys. They mentioned on the radio that the charges carry 5 years per person, per church, 50 years each, that's justice. As to it being a prank that got out of hand, I don't think so, a prank is wrapping someones locker with plaster casting material, not burning churches.
Jim,
Glad the baby is doing well. It is always harder when it is a child that's is sick.

By the way guys, I heard that my friends at The Train Station up in NJ, built a layout that is going to be on the Sopranos. I think it may be the season opener but I won't get to see it as we don't have HBO. Anyway, it is still good to see the hobby get some air time.

Well, just finished building a Revell model of a 1965 Chevy Impala SS with my boy while everyone else naps and before I begin my next work project. His first 'real' model. We built it as a low-rider. Now he'll have to paint and decal it.
Jim, the baby seems to be getting bigger, pinker, healthier!

Jim, That was weird, I got a return on my e-mail indicating all kinds of gobblety-gook which I took as indicating their mailbox was full thus "undeliverable". Lo and behold I get a response from them, unfortunately the items I wanted were already sold-out. Not surprised because it was a heck of a price, I guess the old saying applies. Jeez, do you remember when your kids were 3 - if you have them - my youngest just came out from a nap - he re-dressed himself- covered himself with A&D ointment - looks like Brylcreem - and in the general hilarity - pulled his clothes off their hangers and all the covers and sheets off his bed. He also changed his diaper himself so you can imagine the rug. Oh well, my wife's glad I'm 'working' from home today - off to the bath with him. The carpet cleaner is turning out to be a real good investment. Then off to church to help them setup services and run a few trains with him.

Well, I'm here. Feel like H [can't say it as Dr. John is watching [;)]. Taking meds. Right eye started draining yellow mess [YUCK]. Going to rooom and put hot compresses on it. Savannah Mall has a mall train for kids to ride. That is neat. Off to fix some cow in the room and rest up. Sleep tight and don't let the bed bugs bite.

BTW: I'm at the hotel where we started the Coffee Pot. Think it is the same computer. Just not April 15. Not suppose to be back here this year at that time. So we will party from some where else [home I hope].

Hey CHief, Great to see you made it there. Wish you felt better. As it is, they called and told me they didn't have any hearts for tomorrow, so we will head out earlier. Let me know if you need anything.

Steve, (gil), I used to live in Columbus GA and spent quite a bit of time at Ft. Benning. Lots of history there. Patton's office is right across from School of Americas. If you get the chance to visit again, they are redoing the Infantry Museum and displaying a lot more items. They have a cool steam engine in front too.

Chief and Jim - hope you guys are feeling better soon. Heard a report on TV that seasonal allergies are starting to peak. With the crazy weather we've had in our area the plants and trees are starting to get some new growth already.

The Board of Ed decided to move Grade 5 to the Middle School last night. I know some parents are apprehensive. Losing 120 students and will still have over 700 students next year. I hope they get moving buidling the new school.

Roy I hear what you are saying. Grade 9 in the high school was tough for our son too. After messing around doing just enough to get decent grades through high school, our son came to the revelation during his freshman year in college that he could have had a 4.0 and gone to any college he wanted if he had just put forth some effort. Lord knows his mother and I tried to tell him, but he wasn't ready to listen. After an adjust period in college things are going fine now.

Ran some trains tonight. [:D] I have one engine that is derailing on one curve. Track appears to be twisted. I may have to pull up the track and lay a new section in that area.

Have a good night.

Hi All,

Worked today and then out to dinner with friends. Just got home a little while ago and then it took me a while to read all the posts.

Chief and Jim, hope you get well soon.

Steve, thanks for the history lesson and the pics. Always liked history, have a small collection of civil war books, but not close to yours.

Anyone ever build any of the BTS structure kits? They look real nice, but very pricey.

We could sure use some of the rain that other parts of the country are getting. We got a little this morning but it didn't amount to much.

Taking the day off tomorrow (I am supposed to be retired), maybe work on the layout and run some trains.

All have a good night.

Steve, Doug, Mitch and all. Thanks for the encouragement re my daughter. I know she will make it in the end. It would be nice if she would just go to class on time and make a C. I never asked for more than that.

Doug - funny you mention the cell phone and PC limitations. It is a mirror of what is going on around here.

All the other high schools in our district set up a separate facility for the 9th graders (Freshman Centers). Our high school is the first one to just throw the 14 year olds in with the older kids. Has its plusses and minuses. My view is she (and a lot of others in her class) is not mature enough to conduct herself in the open "college" environment they have created in the high schools here and there is no fall back. The system in our district assumes every student is extremely mature, headed for a major 4 yr state university, and thus completely fails those that are not at that level.

Chief and Jim - get better, esp Chief - you don't sound so good buddy.

Buckeye is laying low - probably preparing the Gala event for the 2 year anniversary of the Coffee Pot!

Steve - part of my family (strangely it was the nawthern part) always claimed that we were direct decendents of General George B. McClellan. It took me several years of casual research and so far I have validated that he only had one son that went on to become a US Senator (who did not have any sons). I told the rest of the family that is unlikely there is a direct connection. I told my mother (the suthern part of our family - born in Fut Wurth TX) when our son came that I was going to name him George B. and she about had a heart attack. In her time the general was typically thought of as a coward for his inaction at the beginning of the war. Just a few years ago he was cleared, with much of the blame going to Pinkerton for being fooled by the Rebs (aren't we sneaky [C):-)] ) moving their forces all the time to make it look like they had a far superior force (hey - just like on the Coffee Pot! [C):-)] [yeah]). McClellan was not one to simply sacrifice troops to suit Lincoln's orders.

Getting late - have a great evening all!
Roy

Regards, Roy

Good morning all from W. Michigan, where its mild outside and quite rainy....been that way all evening. I just got home from work about an half-hour ago. My day started yesterday morning picking up going to Merrilliville, IN and then went down to Indianapolis. About a 5 hour drive back to the shop, with plenty of winds and rain along the way. Hopefully I wont have to work today, but in the trucking industry, nothing is ever stable. Did 15.5 hours tonight, though unfortunately the run I did was a mileage run, so the number of hours won't matter.

Anyway looking forward to the weekend and just hibernating. Thanks also for the Bowser link to their website.

Nighters.

Hi guys,

Well the Jim half of the Chief and Jim traveling illness show is feeling much better today. No more technicolor Ren & Stympy-esque stuff coming out of my nose or chest. I used a product called Tylenol Severe Cold & Flu at night and boy, I think it really helped. It's a liquid. Tastes aweful, works great. Like the Indians used to say "no sting, no cure"! Chief, go buy yourself a bottle. It will make you sleep like a baby.

Long day yesterday. 15 hours here at work. Let's see what todaqy brings.

Looks like living in Atlanta's weather shadow has its benefits at times. Last night's wave of storms hit Atlanta and north of us but died off by the time it reached here. We only got the rain portion, no lightning nor heavy winds.

Meant to hit the smilie list instead of the Submit for the previous post.

The swimming pool for the grandddaughters gets delivered today. I have to meet the trucking outfit over their house later this morning and make two or more trips to get the load home. They only provide curbside delivery and my road doesn't have anywhere nearby that a semi can pull over without probably tipping over. Backing into my driveway would require a couple of extra guys to stop traffic, we're also on a bad curve.

Stopped and picked up weed & feed yesterday, boy that stuff just continues to climb in cost, only the areas closest the house will get the full treatment this year. Guess I'll spend the afternoon putting it down since the lawn is wet and hope it doesn't rain again for a couple of days.

Ran the TV room train for a bit last night while watching TV. I hooked up a PM and brought my extra CAB-1 into the house so that the girls can get some practice when they're over. Now I have the TV remote, the DVD remote and the CAB-1 sitting on the end table, wonder if they have a universl for everything.[%-)]

Next weekend is NMRA Div 5 RailFest at Lakeland Comm. College. Two day show, Sat and Sunday. After the show, stop at the museum, it’s just down the road from the show.

Chris – If you can make it to Cleveland next weekend, you will love this show.

This weekend we will be painting the roads on the tin plate layout at the museum. I may also take down some houses for the layout for next weekend.
