Tom and Mickey, always good to check the pot and see the shots of the day. A little rainy this morning, going to the high 70s. We are going on the road to Savannah. The Chief has brought good weather there and it should be a good weekend. Hope to take in some museum time at the old roundhouse.
Got a little train time in last night as I ran the 1666 and the new Williams GG1. I hope to do some heavy duty benchwork upon our return.

Good morning all!

I see where I've been on this forum two years as of today - time flies when you're having fun.
Oldest daughter is coming down from Birmingham for the weekend. Our son's 18th birthday is tomorrow.

Off day today, so I'll be catching up on some honey-do's. Later.

A little cooler today in Chicago after a warm, wet evening. Still going to try to walk up to the Randolph st. station today at lunch. I'm going to save Union Station for better weather.
- Jim, I agree with you about enjoying every minute with the children as they are now - it'll probably take a few days for the A&D ointment to work its way out of his hair...
- Roy, our high schools have closed campuses - no coming or going, outside doors locked, the standard four classes (9,10,11,12). There's probably something to that - the district seems to assume they require significant steering and guidance. The classes overall are so huge (there's 2,000 in my daughter's H.S. with four other similar-sized schools just in this district), there is relatively little interaction between them. Interestingly, my daughter told me they were running drug-sniffing dogs through the halls and parking lots the other day. Something different from my day in H.S. Don't know why I'm surprised. This weekend is the big H.S. dance weekend - I forsee lots of late night driving for moi on Sat. night.

Morning all!

Spanky - great pic - I call it "hangin' on for the weekend!"

Doug - we need that. 2100 students at my daughter's school.

Chuck - I like that "when in doubt take a nap". I have a retired frind who hands out a business card that is titled "when to urge to work occurs I lie down until it passes..." [^]

Have a great day all!

Off today - watched Howl's Moving Castle with the kids - pretty cool and tons of steam driven devices from planes to street cars and trains etc -- plus the house is steam driven too! Fun fantasy movie!

Praying for the sickies out there to keep getting better and for grades to improve too!

Good afternoon, I almost said good morning. Spent the morning doing office work, ugh. Haven't been outside yet today, the temp is 71, but cloudy and very windy. Was headed to the fitness center for my biweekly workout, but think I will do some lawn/garden cleanup instead.

Glad to hear you are feeling better Jim. Hope Chief is also.

Good afternoon all,

It is cloudy and cooler today in SE Indiana. We had a lot of rain last night. I got home late from class and did very little. It is supposed to be warmer and rainy this weekend so I may get to run some standard gauge upstairs. I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Afternoon all,

I had a few minutes here in the office waiting for the lawyers to arrive regarding a student who is in quite a bit of trouble.

Mitch - I see where you are moving 5th graders to the middle school. I've been in 2 districts where that has taken place and both of them would like to reverse that decision. It is not a good situation. i believe we are trying to make these kids grow up to soon. Putting the 5th graders in with all the middle school mentallity is not good.

I should get going but will try to check in here later this evening.

Have a good afternoon.

Well I picked up the swimming pool this morning. Glad I only had to make one trip, it all fit on my Ranger with good use of tie-down straps. A couple of those boxes were heavy, lucky that the delivery driver helped put the heavier ones in the bed with me and that I have a hand truck at home. Made good use of the laws ot physics in handling a heavy massed object (that one's for Colin). Now the only problem is guessing which box has the assembly instructions and any hard ware.[%-)][?] I have an e-mail in to the vendor.

Put down 1 bag of weed and feed, 15K sq. ft. size, with the push spreader. With the temp. up to 70 I think I'll wait till I pick up the lawn tractor tire, having a tube put in, before putting down the rest so that I can use the pull behind spreader.

Back to the store. Came back to room to do hot eye compresses and take meds [Dr. lets me take extras in case I get sick on the road, she gave me OK]. Eyes are better now. You all have a good one and God bless.

Hello everyone,
I slept in today, and was busy so I did not get to check in.

Steve Frame, it is a TREK 1000 street racing spec. bike. I will post a pic when I get it. I am waiting for him to put a 80mm stem on it.

Three men were sitting together, bragging about how they had given their new wives duties.

The first man had married a woman from Indiana , and bragged that he had told his wife she was going to do all the dishes and house cleaning that needed done at their house. He said that it took a couple days, but on the third day he came home to a clean house, and the dishes were all washed and put away.

The second man had married a woman from Utah . He bragged that he had given his wife orders that she was to do all the cleaning, the dishes, and the cooking. He told them that the first day he didn't see any results, but the next day it was better. By the third day, his house was clean, the dishes were done, and he had a huge dinner on the table.

The third had married an West Virginia girl. He said that he told her that her duties were to keep the house clean, dishes washed, lawn mowed, laundry washed, and hot meals on the table for every meal. He said the first day he didn't see anything, the second day he didn't see anything, but by the third day most of the swelling had gone down and he could see a little out of his left eye, just enough to fix himself a bite to eat, load the dishwasher, and telephone a landscaper.

Gotta love those mountain girls!

Not so good of news today.

My hospital called and new pathology shows my liver is being eaten up at a moderate rate, a little more than expected.

They want to start me on interferon in May but I suggested we begin forth with. They agreed.

I wont be the same person on that stuff, sometimes you become a zomby.

I guess you lay down your dollar and you take your chances.

I went thru it for 18 months several years back and I did OK but I am older now and out of shape.

I think the dog wants to go out front and nose around. I better find her leash.

TomS,

Our Grade 5 move is strictly temporary until the new school opens (hopefully in 2008). The Grade 5 students will be housed in Portables in the front of the school campus. They will be separated from the rest of the school except when they go to Gym, Library and Cafeteria. There is even a separate set of bathrooms. Parents biggest concerns revolve around the bus. I have some concerns myself, but it does give me some relief in a school that is bursting at the seams.

Hang in there, Gil/Steve. I'll be praying for you again.
There's no way my 5th grader would do well with such a move - he' such a kid - and I'm happy for that - compared to his more sophisticated peers.

God bless you Steve - I'll pray it does the trick this time and you get cured. It's a terrible disease and a terrible shame they didn't know what it was years ago, just non-A, non-B. I'll pray the VAMC gives you the very best care.

Our Harry Potter lego castle showed up today - pretty fast delivery! Maybe start putting it together Sunday. Tomorrow I'll be putting in a shower stall in the basement.

Morning gang. Had dinner with Dennis and his wonderful family last night. Wife too pretty for him. [;)] Three year old son was a treat. He has a 18 month China doll [adopted]. Of all things, forgot my camera and left it home. Left restaurant and knew a coughing spell was on the way so went straight to hotel. Coughed for an hour. Would rival Chucks coughing spells. Coughed so much [even with codine] that my chest hurts now. Off to the store. Bad part is, if I get to coughing while driving home tomorrow, long drive [6 hours]. Trip for Monday to NH has been canceled. [:D] Rest and get well. Have to be ready to raid into Ohio by Friday.[}:)] Better get going as Dennis and crew are coming by the store. Later and God bless.
