Sunny and warm. Got to get going and work on projects. More seeds to start in greenhouse. Washing clothes to hit the road again Thursday. Will post in a separate topic some neat pictures a lady friend sent me. Later.

Wow, imagine having tomatos already. I want a goat to keep the lawn trimmed. Weird weather here in Chicago today - warmer, thick swirling fog causing buildings to loom out and into focus, glimpses of blue sky and sun. I'm preparing for my lunch-time walk tomorrow to visit Van Buren, old Dearborn, and Union Stations to see what's up. Hope I don't get arrested wandering around.
I have to start carrying a digital camera - saw an ATSF 'square' hopper (I never see any western flags here) - and my two old favorites - the CGW MoW caboose - the work train was caboose, ancient C&NW (old logo) side-dumper, two long MP flats, Ohio crane - and one of those 'bandit' MP15 (I think) that the CP uses to run a job to Finkl Steel out of UP's North Ave. yard - it's painted black and orange for the MILW and lettered on the Cab for Soo. All the 'bandit' paint covering the MILW logo has worn off - so the Milwaukee Road lives again at least in North Ave. Yard!
Tom, that is too bad about the lawyers; I'm always having such conversations - had to call security on a person - not a student - who was uh, disruptive in the reception area yesterday. Now this person has left me a million weird phone calls. Sigh.
Jim, how are you making those trees? Did you paint the sticks - what sort of filter are you using?

Good morning. Still sleepy. My son returns to Michigan today. Last night we watched 2 sci-fi movies at home here. 2001 and 2010. Yesterday, cleaned garage and sail boat, put down the crab grass preventer/fertilizer. Sailing is still 1.5 months off unless we get some real warm weather. Hoping for rain today but better chance for a good one Wed. I am thinking about a day trip to Bennett Springs to catch trout but it depends on the weather down there. Its about a 3 hour trip. Heading to the Library today. Have a good one.

Tom: Nice scene.

Sunny and cool this AM, about 47. Warming into the upper 60s today - should be gorgeous weather.

Heading up to Birmingham in a few minutes to make some hospital visits, then have lunch with my daughter.

Have a good day!

Mickey, beautiful layout photos - does that hill go down to the floor? How did you learn to sail? I've always wanted to try it.

I learned to sail by myself. I read a couple of books on the science of it. I bought a 14 foot sloop, Flying Junior, and spent Sundays one summer at a local lake where I just did it. That means a good bit of trial and error and getting into the feel of the wind, touch of the helm on that boat. Watched the pros as well. I did not get the family out in the boat until I was confident I could handle the boat safely. I sold that boat in 1979 and bought a Lightning that I still sail. It is 19 feet and a great boat. To all the train guys who are also sailors out there, "Ready about!"

As for my layout, the lower level is about 42 inches high and it winds around with a 2.25 % grade to a high of 54 inches. Someday I will try to insert a diagram on a thread. Good day.

Good morning - cool in Lower Arnold. Bought a new lego set for the Hogwarts Express layout to build with the kids. Lego 4757 - Hogwart's Castle 2nd edition. We had the original castle set and this one can be blended with the original to make a larger castle. It went out of print (OOP) and prices soared. I found a used one from a collector on ebay - it was about $30 more than the original msrp, but new in the box sets are selling for about $150 to $190! Oh well - it's the last BIG Harry Potter set they released, so this would only leave smaller, less expensive sets we need for a complete collection. Once we get it all together and stuff, I'll post some new pics.

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Good afternoon. A bright sunny day here in Oconee Cty. though its a bit on the cool side, 52 at noon. I might get the urge to paint a couple of closet doors I have sitting out in the barn. They're the last things needed to finish up the painting of the granddaughters' bedroom, theirs' about 3 nights a week.

Ran the A-B-A set with the 2 speakers yesterday afternoon for a while. Doubling the speakers seems to also have increased to volume. Had to turn it down after a few laps around the layout.

My next project is around the corner. The above ground swimming pool I ordered back in Dec. is at the trucking company in Athens according to their web site. I'm waiting for the call to make delivery arraingements.

One of these days I guess I better give spring lawn care a thought, both for home and the rental house we have. Seems the work never ends. I'm strongly thinking of paying off the last yeat of the mortgage and going to full retirement so I can keep up with the work and have some time for trains.

It is sunny and in the 40s in SE Indiana. I am at class again so it will be a short report. I did weights at the Y last night and got a haircut. Exciting evening!?!? I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Jim, you should've seen the Lego layout at the train show I went to this weekend. The Harry Potter area alone was huge and had seemingly everything Lego ever made for HP - and lots of animation.

#$@ ^%#$ &*$%#! math. That %^&*#& subject ruined my day, which happned to be going well, but as soon as I get into that class, he hands me a *&^ $%#@ failure warning. Ya know, if he would teach properly, I would understand it more clearly, but thank the Lord I understand what we are learning now. This is the second time I understand something in his class.

So how was yuz guyz day?

John - Good for you! Jury duty can be a pain, but it's an important civic duty. I served a few years back. A very interesting experience.

Had a good trip to Birmingham this AM. UAB is a monstrously huge medical center covering several city blocks. I always feel like I need to leave a trail of bread crumbs when I visit up there. Had a nice visit and lunch with my daughter while up there.

HI GIZ,
KIETH, I'll have to fatten the BRUIN up for YORK he lost some weight during the winter hibernation.

GIZ, I got a phone call from STEVE at DAVIS ELECTRONICS today about 445PM. He said that my K-line Berkshire is done. Yea! Heck of a nice GUY to talk to told me it was a difficult job. They had to give me a new motor cause the old one shorted out then this killed the mother board so that had to be replaced, and because it shorted all out and new motor is installed I lost the use of cruise control. That reason was because of the lawsuit with Lionel, DAVIS can't get that part. Oh well but he said it runs great right now. They are to bill me tomorrow and then send it out UPS by 5PM. He said total cast would be abot $130. THANKS again my OHIO BROTHERS!

Celebrated by running trains tonite.
have a good nite.

I'm unable to go to York next month- Maybe another time. If I do go to Pennsylvania this summer would like to swing by for a visit with you & maybe Colin? We'll see what happens with Gas Prices as they've been going up lately. Around here they are now $ 2.39 - $2.49 per gallon depending on which side of town you go to. Oh Well. Take Care.

Good evening all. I can't seem to keep up with this thread. Every time I log on there are several more pages.

Nice day here not warm but sunny. Took the two granddaughters to the park a while today.

Received my new Jersey Central GP-9 (Atlas) today. Runs and looks great. Shopping for a Jersey Central caboose to go with it.

May try to add a little to the backdrop tomorrow.

Hoping to get to York this year.

UPS is overnighting a big package to Keith. Be careful if it goes BAAAA. [;)]
Roseyville more than tripled my salary last night with all of the Board voting yes. HUMMM. Must be doing something right. [:)] Got meeting with Planning Director and then County Manager, Raleigh City Manager and some others to work out an agreement about Roseyville annexing into the watershed. We can legally do it but I want an environmental agreement between all parties. This has made the County Officials happy. So, most of tomorrow is shot.
Mounted large hanging baskets under kitchen windows for Pam. Went to pond and the kids were catching crappie. Just as I was leaving, one kid caught a crappie about 1 1/2 lb. That is a big crappie.
Sleep tight and God bless.

Good morning from Gettysburg, PA where it is currenlty 23 degrees. It is supposed to be partly cloudy today with highs in the upper 40s.

Chief- Congrats on the raise. Hopefully the increase in pay won't require more hours. Seems like you have precious little free time as it is between Roseyville and the Road Trips. We wouldn't want work to interfere too much with our train time, would we? [;)][;)][;)][;)][;)]

Listening to all the chatter about York is getting me more excited every day. When I go to a train show I don't even have to spend any money. I get tremendous pleasure just walking around taking in the sights. It's about the only time I enjoy shopping. If you have never been to York, you really need to go sometime. I guarantee once you've been, you'll want to return. [:D][:D]

Another long night coming up. Tonight is the Board of Ed meeting to finally decide whether to move Grade 5 to the Middle School. Should be some interesting fireworks.

Have a great day.

Good morning from lovely Berea, Ohio, home of Baldwin Wallace College and not much else. I had a good visit with Tom last night. We went to the museum to see the start of the layout. Needless to say they have a big space available for a layout!

Laz, I told ya that Davis would get the engine fixed for you. [:)] How long did it take? [?]
