Hey All, thought of some of you friday. Went to the San Diego county fair and after eating our way across the midway I found someone selling reproductions of antique tin signs. Unfortunately he didn't have any RR signs, full size or model, but he had a bunch of old John Deere signs Even some Ford tractor signs.[:(]

Great fishing trip to southern Indiana this weekend except for the storms. Caught a few nice bass between storms. Today, I am off to a meeting near Sandusky, Ohio. Have only been able to sit in the computer chair for a few minutes to check out email and the forum.

Sorry Chief - too damn tired last night. We got it done, though...1st place Saturday, 2nd place Sunday, and set fast time of 1:03. Those new EZ-up tents with the lining REALLY WORK! 10 - 15 degrees cooler than the standard white nylon canopy. We measured the temp under both, side by side.

Had a pretty nice weekend. yesterday was actually cool in DC area so went kayaking in Potomac from Georgetown and went around Roosevelt Island. Waves in the river were kicking up white caps from the wind and it was quite a ride.

Unbelievable, but ate 2 juicy, delicious peaches from my tree yesterday. Planted the tree (which is more like a twig), just 3 months ago and wasn't expecting fruit this fast.

My daughter, who just graduated from high school last week, said she is going to finish college and join the Marines as an officer. I never encouraged (or discouraged) her from doing any career and was rather surprised, as I have never really spoken about my Marine Corps life to her. She was 8 when I retired. It's just amazing how one can have unexpected influences on their kids.

Church was pretty nice yesterday but not many people there as summer vacation is now upon us.

It's a rainy day in lower Alabama. Our dry spell is definitely over! It's much quieter at my church this week with Vacation Bible School over. A lot of our folks are out of town. We have a group of 12 in Idaho on a mission trip helping with the construction of a church building. About 40 of our high school students are in Kentucky, doing repair works to the homes of low income families. Plus a lot of folks on vacation.

But have you ever fallen asleep on the job? I have. Esp. during meetings; you know, the kind where everyone likes to hear themselves talk and you go away from the meeting with absolutely no useful information.

A couple of days ago I heard a news report that a Bubba down in Mississippi went to fill his fishing boat with gas but put the nozzel in the wrong hole. Result was 35 gallons of gas in the hull. Good he didn't light up. (With the price of fuel being so high, the gas was probably worth more than the boat).

I like the Beatles and I like the Japanese but I don't like Japanese Beatles. We had an infestation of these this week and they ate up half of my fruit trees. The storees are out of bag of bugs so I got the next best thing, 7.

Speaking of bugs, have you ever been pestered by a fly in the house? I drank more than a few that landed in my soda can and they can be irritating when you are trying to sleep.

Last night one was buzzing me but it was a superfly in that it was faster than the fly swatter. I called BB the beagle and she went into action, doggedly chasing the fly around the room, jumping in the air and flying over the furniture. Finally, she caught it and it became a Scooby snack.

After traveling all over Ohio, I am finally back home tonight. I have been to
Toledo, Findlay, Wooster, Huron and Vandalia since last Thursday. [:)]

I was in French Lick, Indiana over the weekend doing some serious bass fishing with a wacky worm. [:)] The Indiana Railroad Museum is at French Lick. I need to go back there sometime to check it out. (BTW, [:D] French Lick Liquors has closed. No, I am not making this up!!!)

Morning all. Well I'm off down east to Mom's today. Will be back this PM. Will not get French Licked like Buckeye. Was traying to find some O gauge size coal loads yesterday [not plastic] to match the coal I got in the 80's. Could not find any. Buckeye, think you could pee me out a load of coal. OH, kidney stones are not black. Joking aside. Hope that is better. Trying to give my Texican buddy a little rain. Texas is hot and dry this time of year. Think it will help his neighbor's grass grow. OH, getting tomatoes now too. Tom can not see his garden as it will grow catfish from all the rain he has had. Dr. John has been doing a good job for me. Guess I have to send him a good offering. We've been getting a good couple of rains a week since I asked him to pray for NC to get rain. Shows a preacher that likes trains and likes to fish, has a lot of influence. David, what can I say for you. Better go down to Dr. John's and let him hook you up with one of those good southern gals. Yesterday was a worm day without rain, but we will have more today. The Tomatoes are growing great, already 3 feet tall, they have only been in the ground for a month.

My tomatoes are going on 5 feet, about a foot higher than the round wire thingy that holds them up. I may have to make my own because one plant in particular looks like a jack-and-the-beanstalk one. It would be pretty cool if it went up into the clouds and I could climb it and steal coins from the giant and the goose that lays golden eggs.

If the goose layed just one golden egg every day, I could have my pick of trains and stuff, and get an even bigger basement somewhere; perhaps a special gymnasium dedicated to Dave's trains; and my own beagle ranch.

I posted these before, but they are worth seeing again. This is last years tomatoes. This year, they are on track as last year.





The vines grew to about 15 feet long.

One thing to watch for are fat caterpillers; they can eat all your plants in a couple of days.

Back from down east. Eastern NC is a lot slower than the city life and things grow taller sooner. Corn is ready in the gardens, tobacco is 5 feet tall, the field corn is 10 feet tall, peanuts are bushy and the cotton is a foot tall. Got all of my old train stuff [grain elevator, coaling station, factories, buildings, houses, miles of track and a million switches, well seems like that many] from Mom's upsatirs. Time to go do some DCSing as I'm having withdrawal. [;)] Another NS SD90 PS2 is due Friday by the UPS. [:D] God bless us all.

It like a summer morning here in NE Ohio. Temp at 6:00 am was 76 deg with a dew point temp of 72, high will be 85 and would you believe a chance of RAIN. The news reported that since spring has sprung, we have had rain 69 out of 90 days. Well it better than snow.

Well an new printer came last night to replace the one I couldn’t get to work. This one prints great and fast. Now the scanner part doesn’t want to work. [banghead] It looks like it doesn’t want to unlock from the shipping lock. Will work on it this weekend. [:)]
