Been watching the videos on DCS. Got to get the layout built [Tom wants me to run it on the Chief Eagles Short Line Railroad loop]. Don't have any MTH engines to test it with. Got them on order. Wiring is the same I used for my old conventional layout. In fact, I actually had more soldered tack connections than they say I need now. I have a few coaches that are helping me to prepare. Got the parts ordered/in for the curcuit breakers [instead of fuses]. When I go, I'll go all the way. Then add the TMCC module. Then upgrade some of my conventional engines. All in time.

Chiefie - I have a hunch that if you get a loop ready with DCS, one of us will "loan" you a PS2 loco...maybe in exchange for some goodies from your truck patch...

Small Layouts are cool! Low post counts are even more cool! NO GRITS in my pot!!!

You may not realize this but on some railroads, men were hired to ring the bells at grade crossings. One such person was Quasimodo, decendent of THE GREAT Quasimodo. The Great Quasimodo's story—his death and the aftermath—is worthy of a read...

After Quasimodo's death, the Bishop of the Cathedral of Notre Dame sent word through the streets of Paris that a new bell ringer was
needed.

The Bishop decided that he would conduct the interviews personally
and after several applicants demonstrated their skills, he had decided
to call it a day.

Just then, an armless man approached him and announced that he was
there to apply for the bell ringer's job.The Bishop was incredulous.
"You have no arms!"

"No matter," said the man. "Observe!" And he began striking the bells
with his face, producing a beautiful melody on the carillon.

The Bishop listened in astonishment, convinced he had finally found a
replacement for Quasimodo. But suddenly, rushing forward to strike a bell,
the armless man tripped and plunged headlong out of the belfry window
to his death in the street below.

The stunned Bishop rushed to his side. When he reached the street, a
crowd had gathered around the fallen figure, drawn by the beautiful music
they had heard only moments before. As they silently parted to let the
Bishop through, one of them asked: "Bishop, who was this man?".

"I don't know his name," the bishop sadly replied. "I don't know his name
..
but
his face sure rings a bell"

The following day, despite the sadness that weighed heavily on his heart
due to the unfortunate death of the armless campanologist the Bishop
continued his interviews for the bellringer of Notre Dame.

The first man to approach him said, "Your Excellency, I am the brother of
the poor armless wretch that fell to his death from this very belfry
yesterday.

I pray that you honor his life by allowing me to replace him in this duty."
The Bishop agreed to give the man an audition and as the armless man's
brother stooped to pick up a mallet to strike the first bell, he moaned, clutched
at his chest, twirled around, and died on the spot.

The monks, hearing the Bishop's cries of grief at this second tragedy,
rushed up the stairs to his side.

"What has happened? Who is this man?" the first monk asked breathlessly.
"I don't know his name," sighed the distraught Bishop, "but...

. . . .
"He's a dead ringer for his brother."

Counting posts for stars??????? Does this thing update like once a day or what. I saw I was in the 480 range and then suddenly it says 495 and then says that on several of my posts. I had noticed it before. Does it have to be separate subjects??? Who knows how it counts? I think I see. All the replies to the same post are not counted. The coffee pot replies are not counting. HUMMM [that is not a good way to count]

Thanks everyone for the compliments. If you want to see the documentation of the struggle it took to get that loop running, check out the Garden Railroad forum, topic: Mainline Enterprises - Problems

Doug - The web page you referenced wouldn't work. Is that the correct address?

Good Morning All,

It a sunny day with light clouds in NE Ohio, temp 68 deg with a high of 78 or so and maybe chance of rain later in the afternoon.

Stangme, you are more than welcome to join us. What part of the Great State of OHIO are you in. Maybe we should have a forum meeting here in Ohio, like at the Station Restaurant.

Buckeye – your garden RR looks great.

All have a great day.

Cheif, the printer still is not working. The scaner works great. The pic on switches I posted was scaned. It starts to print then looses the com port and lock up. Still waiting for new ink cartage. If that doen't work, its going back.

This was our garden last year on August 1, 2003. Yes these are tomatoes!

One tomato would feed a whole family of 4 with BLT’s

FYI – these pics were scanned on the new printer – scanner. The scanner works.

I've been trying to rebuild my deck and cover but it has been very SLOW going to [censored] hot. You think you have a lack of rain, we won't see rain again til about Thanksgiving. We are supposed to get about 9 inches a year but we haven't seen that much since the El Ninio years in the early 90's. In plain words "It's about as dry as a popcorn fart". [(-D]

It's been a while since I've been here, good to see some familiar names again. Thanks Frank for starting this thread, I'll be checking in daily now that I have the yard under control, the 9" of rain in May have forced me to mow every 3 days and has cut into train room time.

I've made some great progress on the layout and thought I would post the album pages url for those of you who might want to take a look.
