Hi all!

Busy week, so I didn't post much. The wife and kids are out of town for a few days, just me and the weiner dogs, so I'll probably work on the layout some.

It's hot in lower Alabama! The grass crunches when you walk on it - not good! I'll have to start watering the lawn again !$$$

Dave, your idea of a rock garden makes sense! At least you don't have to water and fertilize rocks. (Do you?)

Well, I've had a busy week. The past two evenings I've been performing in my school's drama production. I had the lead role. I enjoy acting very much, but am glad that I can relax now that it's finished. I seem to be getting a bit of a cold now, though.

We have a Veterans day ceremoney enery year and it seems like I'm the only student there that even cares. Most kids just talk and giggle during it. I even heard some people saying, "Look at those old geezers, they look like fools!"

So sad! So sad! [:(][:(]

I know exactly what you mean, Jerry. It's the same thing at my school. In Canada, we have Remembrance Day on Nov. 11 (instead of Veterans' Day or Memorial Day like you Americans do) and we have the ceremonies at school and everything. It really is a shame that today's young people don't give these people the respect that they truly deserve!

Jerry, Sask:

Just for the heck of it, I saw the annual Memorial Day / Veteran's Day program yesterday morning at a neighborhood school. It was raining so hard that they, according to a flyer, skipped two events just to get back inside. [:(]

Good Morning all,

IT is a cool sunny morning is NE Ohio. Tepm is 55 deg and going up to 75 or so. A start to a three day weekend. Lets not forget the reason why we have Monday off. God bless our men and women in our services.

For the race fans, 3 great races, NASCAR, Indy 500, and NHRA. My wife should love the fact that I play with trains after watching that much racing. Maybe I can get the NHRA in. Love seeing 330+ in the ¼ mile.

Have a great weekend.

Morning gang. Goofing off today [I guess]. That is unusual for me. May work on more trains and get some of the stuff into the attic. No rain. Rained 3 drops. None in sight for a while. Enjoy the day and God bless all.

Good morning folks! Still sitting in front of the computer, drinking coffee. I have a wedding to perform this afternoon, so just taking it easy right now. The grass is so dry it doesn't need to be cut.

I hope everyone has an enjoyable Memorial Day. Remember our troops! I imagine we all know someone who is serving in Iraq or Afghanistan or anywhere in the world for that matter. Take a moment to pray for their safety this weekend. If you know an address or email address of someone serving, send them a line - it will mean a lot to them!

Have a great day y'all!

Commercial time. Watching one of my favorite war movies. "In Harms Way" on AMC. AMC has war movies for the next three days. Long movie but good and got John Wayne, Henry Fonda and others in it.

Good Morning All,

It’s another Sunny Blue Clear Sky morning in NE Ohio. Temp is 55 going up to 75 today. What a great looking day.

We will be spending the day at my mother-in-laws for a family cookout. This will be good eats. Maybe I can even get in watching some racing today, at least the NHRA.

If Chief is good, maybe he can go fishing today.

After doing some yardwork this morning, before the day heats up, it'll be the Indy 500 and NASCAR for the rest of the day.

Ran my trains last night, I used my converted 2020, TAS TMCC conversion and an old Lionel conversion to liquid smoke. I switched onto a train that had a newer Lionel Hudson, I never noticed how much more smoke the old timer puts out compared to the newer engine.

I guess I'll have to stop at Michael's this week to see what they have in translucent paint to make some stained glass windows. They're all I need to complete the church I'm scratch building for the layout. Also just finished weathering some cars and trucks that came in from Diecast Direct this week. I can't stand a shiney finish on a vehicle thats a year or two old.

Well, time to finish checking the rest of the forum and then off to work.

Tom,
First thing I would have to do is get a digital camera. After having the cost of a decent engine in a 35mm I think my better half would have strong objections. I'm planning on having a roll of 35mm developed onto disc and then I'll give it a try. I'll probably need to be walked through the procedure.

Finished cutting the wild flowers, a.k.a. weeds, between the driveway and the woods, daughter-in-law is working, grandma took the grandaughters shopping, the rest of the day is mine.[:D]

Morning gang. Hope all are well. Waiting for more rain [we got rain yesteray]. Looks real promising. Wife's [Pam] friend when she moved to NC and through high school is to be on Dr. Phil today. Susan is to tell her story. Told Pam that is why you act the way you do. Where did this knot on my head come from? [:D] Well stay safe and away from the bad guys on the roads and lakes. Speaking of bad boys. Frankie called yesterday and said he clocked a guy at 92 mph on a US route going out of a town in the edge of Raleigh. Turned around on him. Caught him 10 miles later in the next town when that town's PD had the road blocked. His CV kept "cutting back" [computer shuts the motor back] at 130 mph. Got guy out of car. Guy did not realize Frankie was chasing him. He blew a 2.3 when he got him down town. Lucky it was straight road and late at night. Another killer off the road. God bless all.

Tom, Don't know what's with this weather, seems like the midwest is getting hammered with severe t'storms and twisters practically daily. Stay safe everybody.

WE have had an unusual amount of storms this spring also, including twister her in NE Ohio. It must be the Telaban.

Morning Gang. Well we got rain Sunday but none yesterday as predicted. Thank the Lord for wha the sent. First real rain since I was in St. Louis [a month ago]. See the hot air [David [:D]] was not in the DC area this weekend so it could rain. Garden is only producing about two big buckets full of squash and zuchinni a day. [:)] Green tomatoes hanging. Usually you do not get tomatoes here until the first of July [might be earlier this year]. One batch of corn is knee high. One just coming up good. Getting cucumbers. Green beans slow. That is the Farmer's Market report for today. Hope all had a good and safe holiday. God bless all.

Good Morning All,

After 3 days off, it’s tuff to get up and drive across town to work. Partly cloudy sky in NE Ohio. Most of the weekend storms died before they got to us and we just had rain. Our garden is starting to grow, but remember that we just planted it in the past two weeks. Us northerner have to waite until it stops snowing.

Speaking of digital, I need to take a photo of a #7 turnout I scratchbuilt over the weekend using 027 rails. I'll try to do it sometime this week. I think I can mass produce these babies now.

I'm thinking about someday moving north where the summers are cooler and the ticks are fewer. I miss the cool summer days in the Adirandacks and the deep winter snow.

Visited an open house (trains) on Sunday. I think I'll do a post on it.

Good day, all!

Well the rains finally fell on lower Alabama. We had a good rain yesterday and it is raining as I write this. Hopefully, we can get enough to reverse the dry spell, but I am very grateful for what we have received.

Did some trackwork on the layout yesterday. Had to cut some pieces to fit in a few areas and managed to jam a piece of sharp, tubular rail in my thumb. (I know, I know, I should have worn my gloves). I ran out of insulated track pins, so I didn't get one turnout installed, but overall I made some good progess.

Yes, she started itching Sunday PM and it kept getting worse. She went to work but got to the point she could hardly speak. Went to Dr. and she said no peanuts [she had eaten chocolate candy with peanuts] for a while and see. Gave her meds and she is a lot better now.

Good Morning all,

Glad to hear that Chief’s wife is felling better. Chief, stop rolling her in the ivory. Spent most of last night installing a new printer on the home base. This one can print, scan and fax. In the process, we messed up our DSL connection and it only took us an hour to fix it. We also had problems with the printer wanting the same port that our camera uses.

I think we got it all up and running now. I did just end up with pulling the plug last night, and will work on it again tonight. Hopefully every thing is ok on it, and I can just print.

We had more rain last night and more coming today. Sorry Chief, we tried to send it south.
