Good Afternoon All:

Everything is slow today, including me.

I put together a bunch of weekend orders from our web site and took them to the Post Office. I would have them pick up here, but we live beyond the 1/2 mile limit on a private road. The cost for us is $10.00 a pick up.

The internet is extremely slow. Yahoo, amazon, Postal web site and this forum are so slow I am over my limit on coffee.

On the ceiling fan, one thing I found that doesn't work (not for long anyway) is to steal the light from one fan and install it on another fan. The light in the utility room fan quit working, so I took the light from the family room. I didn't think we needed a ceiling light in the family room, but I was over ruled on that.

RT's multiple post is his contribution to our effort to have 50 pages of posts by Mar. 1.

Mike C your $1,000,000.00 stimulus check should take care of 2009.

For some reason the forum didn't show me the font size selection or the smiley faces, so have to go without them this time. Lucky for you all the spell checker works!

Until later,

Patrick

RT.......I read every one of your posts and found one more fascinating than the next.  Smile

Sir James and Charlie......thanks for the videos, though I didn't hear enough back seat driving going on.

Dennis......one thing I carried with me from my parents was their effort.  My dad worked 7 days a week with 2 of them 15 hour days.  Mom was alone to hold down the fort.  And they never argued in front of us.  There was always time for us.  And as I look back, the quality of time made up for the quantity.

Chief.....liked the idea of the remote control ceiling fans.  Wife has a temperature comfort range of about 1.5 degrees, but you cannot predict when the range will change nor how long that range will last.  Same with the light intensity.  Remote is the ticket.

Patrick.....been having several strange things happen with the forum here.  As magically as they appear, they disappear.

DougDG......those aren't NC gophers, are they?  Check their IDs.

DougM......was watching some TV commercial where the guy was deliberately trying to clog his toilet so he could hire the neighbor's good looking female plumber.  Your wife wouldn't think of doing something similar to kick some interior decorating master plan into high gear, would she?

To be honest I really didn't want 11 post of the same thing basicly I was trying to get it to post. and thought it was funny that I could still type while waiting for it to post didn't know if it would type but it did in a few. any way did try to delete but we know how that goes on this new forum.

hows it going not to much happening did manage to do a full day at work and not feel like you know what when the day was over so maybe I'm getting over this what ever it is.

Well put a pizza in the oven for dinner so need to check on it should be about done talk to you all later

Good afternoon all

It has been a crazy past few days and our internet has been out so that is why I have not been around.  Sorry for missing the SPF, and this coming week I will be away again till late Sunday evening so someone else will need to start the SPF again.  There is a lot going on right now.  My bride and I are working through the legal stuff to get temporary custody of the grandkids.  Please keep all concerned in prayers for openness to God’s will.

Youngest daughter got a part time job and should tie her over till something else comes along.   Thank you for you prayers for her employment and health after her car wreck.  She is feeling better, does have the busted ribs, whiplash and displaced hip, but she is on the mend.

Jim F – Something sounds amiss with your fan.  How much is coming off that breaker?

Laz – I remember watching Chiller when I was young and a show with a night owl, can’t remember the name of that show.

Dennis & Mike C – The scripture reading for Ash Wednesday this week speak very clearly of the reward for putting on a good show for the sake of the outward appearance, and is the theme of my homily.

May God bless

Jim

Evening all.  New brakes on the front of the pickup.  New rotors, wheel seal, repacked bearings and new pads.  Ready for another 119K.

Jack, there are remote control kits now available for older ceiling fans.  Lowes and Home Depot have them here.

Need to go watch the Great Planes I DVD'd.  F104, F15 and one of my favorites, the B25.

Going to hit the road early tomorrow for Greenville, NC and Pit Memorial Hospital [part of East Carolina Med School].  Guy that is like family had cancer operation.  He had early pacemaker [large like a bagphone] and never would let them remove it.  Dropped down and stuck out on his lower stomach area.  They thought the wires had cancer and the heart attachements too.  Only cancer area was at the stomach area.  He was lucky.   Then I will come by Moms.  Come home and head to the lake house to work on extra bath.  Plumber and I should finish it.

Cold and cold tomorrow.  60's by Thursday and into the weekend.  Of course.  I'm at at Bass Pro Shops event. Banged Head

Good evening all,  cloudy day today with light sprinkles.  No real rain and temp. is warm.

Went to foot doctor appointment this morning but got some sad news earlier today that my sister's husband passed away last night.  I did not know him very well or I should say hardly at all.  I went fishing  once with him and my brother and that was over 30 years ago.  He has been ill for some time so I guess it was not a shock to his family exactly.  I feel real bad that I cannot go to the funeral for my sister's sake at least but my health will not allow me to travel at the moment.  I called her today and she understands perfectly and did not expect me to come all the way from California to North Carolina.  She knows I would if I could.  Most of our other family members will be there for her and the Marine Corps will supply a guard of honor.  He was a retired veteran with a whole career in the Marines. R.I.P.

Chief, wonder how much you save on all that vehicle stuff you do yourself.

Roy, I tried to pick up that PM, but the site won't give access tonight.  I will try again later.

Was a good day, finished way early, got to have lunch with the director of the movies that we make, and had a good afternoon with the kids and bride.  Wife made some good 'ol southern style ribs tonight.  YUM!  Had that with sweet taters and some greens and sweet corn bread, and of course, SWEET TEA!

Mike, none of us know what the tax situation will be next year.  Not casting blame, but none of the political types in DC seem to know how to turn things around.  All the finance "GURUS" say that it will turn itself around and the best thing they can do is leave well enough alone, but they don't listen.  Anyway, I suspect a tax increase is going to happen, just a question of how they do it.

As to the question, it's very important and one we need to keep asking.  Like Jack, my father worked a couple of jobs to keep food on the table.  He wasn't the most spiritual minded or Godly, but he did what he knew to do.  While my kids know I do my best, they see and hear me pray, I don't use foul language, nor watch/look at objectionable things, but I also spoil them a bit much.  Not perfect by any stretch, but I also try my best.  One area I lack in is that lately, I have been putting in many hours away from home and when I am home, not very active with playing with them.  I am working on it.

I think we are giving Jim plenty for his homily, but I am sure he gets his inspiration from the Almighty.

Hope Y'all have a good night,

Dennis

Ray, we were posting at the same time.  Sorry for your sister's loss.  Also, sorry that another veteran has passed.

Budget for York? What's that?!

Dennis - I will try to send you an e-mail. I am having some e-mail troubles.

Ray - prayers for your family Angel

Chief, prayers on your friend, too!  Angel

Jim - prayers for your family, also - custody?  I have a friend at work who had to do that as his daughter was going through some bad times. Angel

Wiring in the house is fine and the breaker is fine.  This fan/kit actually uses less power and weighs less than the old fan and light kit that we took down.  This is on a ceiling fan brace - we had the builder brace for this one and another in the master bedroom when we built this house.  I said I was going to just take it down and return it for store credit or money back, but my wife called the helpline and they said oh, this happens, it's the remote control.  She told me when she got home tonight, I was already on the ladder and had my son handing me tools, lol!  Well, she talked me down when she said they put another remote in the mail already.  If that doesn't fix it, I'll take the whole thing down and take it back.  Next time, I'll get what I want and wife can just okay the color Whistling  I've wired a hundred light fixtures I'll bet, never had a problem before unless the product was defective.

Charlie and Jim - great videos!

RT, got any pizza left?  All we had for dinner was hotdogs Sad

Mike - good news, hope things work out again next year!

I'll check the scope after a while, it's a little early yet!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Mornin' Fellas.

Had a visit last night from Fifey and Wifey. They stopped by on their way home from WM. Always good to see and talk shop with Fife. Got some good ideas on what to do with my bridge situation.

Not much else going on around here lately... just patiently waiting for York, a day off, comradarie, etc.

We had our house inspection on the new house yesterday.  I have a nice long list of projects to work on...nothing severe enough to not buy the house, or course.  Rehab costs sure do add up though.  There isn't a door in that house that doesn't need dog scratches sanded out of it and revarnished.  A couple of roof flashings need nailed down, a rotten window frame, some broken window seals, garage door spring adjustments, missing light fixtures, etc.  I'm ready to get in there and start working already...

Have a good one!

Mornin' boys.  Back from West-by-God-Virginia with a frog in my throat.  Got that sexy Kathleen Turner voice goin' on.  Man was it windy, cold and snowy.  Didn't get much time in trackside, but do have a couple pics for next SPF.  Looked at some really nice homes, with million dollar mountain views, but we came to the realization that we gotta stay put for now for family and job reasons. Sigh  Will probably settle on some acreage outside of Romney.

Had a nice little visit with 88 & The Q last night.  Hopefully helped him solve a couple minor dilemas for him.  Good lookin' layout.Thumbs Up

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 30s.  "Dude, strange things are happening at the Circle K".  A famous line from "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure" is a good description for my day yesterday.  The tax situation took another couple of twists and turns before the day was over, but the bottom line is still that he does not have to pay for 2008.  Finding out what is needed for documentation could be interesting.  I also found out I have to get the FAFSA done before March 1for IU so no rest (and no Tardis  :-( ) for the cheapclassic until it is done.  However, there will be time for the YMCA and possibly soccer.  Speaking of soccer (good dialogue flow), I found out we are having lights installed at the local high school field!  Nothing is better on a warm August night than soccer under the lights!!!!   Woo-hoo!

Other oddities from yesterday.  We went to a band concert that Lucas' girlfriend in it.  Picture this.  Seven schools get together and have auditons to pick the 50 best musicians.  They have been doing this for 10 years (although this is the first we have heard about it).  There is NO publicity about it, not even in the school announcements.  Less than 100 people show up.  Go figure.

One of the people at work had a complete meltdown yesterday.  That was rough.  A lot of family and work pressure got to that person.  I felt bad because I indirectly contributed to the situation without intending to do so.  My wife told me that my intentions were good and all I could think of was what the road to h--- was paved with.  I think if Sturgeon-fish is looking for sermon inspirations, perhaps the stories that occur here could provide some fodder.  On the other hand, some divine guidance could prove useful from time to time as well.

I had the regular fare on the dining car this morning.  If I get done with FAFSA tonight early enough, I will light a beacon.  I hope everyone (especially me) has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good morning all (again),

One more thought (and possible sermon idea).  If Jesus was a soccer player, what position would he play?

Goalie, because he makes more "saves" than anybody!  :-)

If I offend anyone with the above comment, please accept my apology.  It was not intended to be offensive (actually the goalie is a defensive position).  I better shut up.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Hey all,

Sorry I've been MIA, The computer is turned off at the house and the post I made yesterday got swallowed by the web site, I think.

Up to 60 again today, just like yesterday.  Down to 34 both days.  'Spose to be warmer tomorrow and the weekend.  We'll see.

Saturday at the "real" job was a waste.  All I did was do Monday's work, was supposed to go to Waycross, GA and that was cancelled.  Have a few things to get done for the real job, then whatever...?

Was out late last night as Princess's rehersal wasn't done until 8:45 got Pizza for dinner and was asleep by 10:15.  I have to get to the hospital tonight, I haven't heard the latest about Dave, as I didn't get to the LTS Friday or Saturday.  Also missed the train show here Saturday.

Had a out of town "job" Sunday, paid ok, summore $ for the train/house budget.

OK - will check in later...!

Morning all.  Prayers for Jim's g'kid situation, Ray's bro in law, and everyone else who needs them, including Brutus' ceiling fan saga and Mike C's FAFSA and work. Boy, was I happy to finish the FAFSA - worse than taxes.  My long day today with clas tonight. Going to take the L up to Lincoln Park for a big leader retreat I'm supposed to run - uninspired as yet, but I have my flip charts Wink. The blowers and dehumidfiers are gone. Peace reigns at home. I successfully abstained from Homer-and-Bart Simpson strangling too - when the middle boy asked for homework help, without having his books or assignment notebook.  Also still trying to figure out how to put this wonderful LED on Percy - as I explore him and Thomas more, everything about them is plastic so where do I solder the 'negative' wire if I connect the 'positive' to the roller pickup plate?
