Been sitting here trying to catch up on posts and am falling asleep at the keyboard.
Off to bed. G'night.

Chief,
I've seen from your posts that you're a NS fan and have the new Legacy control. Have you ordered (or received) the Lionel NS SD-40-2 with legacy? If you have received it, how do you like it?
My son and I spent last weekend in Roanoke watching trains at the NS yard (busy!) and going through the Virginia Transportation Museum. Saw some surprises there, didn't know they had a GG1, and after seeing N&W J #611 in 1:1 gauge, I want one in "O" bad.......
Have a good weekend, all.

TIM,
I just got the NS 40 from Lionel with Legacy. Great running machine. I ran it for two hrs. No pile ups. Ran great. Has lots o smoke. Fills the room. Ditch lights oscilate whenever you use the horn. Great running and the sounds are wonderful.

Evening all!
Hope everyone with ailments gets better soon. Seems that the warming up cars that quickly turn into "hot" cars is a pretty universal thing. Last week in our area there was an idling vehicle stolen with the owners child strapped in the car seat. Luckily the minivan was quickly abandoned and mother was reunited with the little one safe and sound

Tomorrow I shall call the LHS to see if they can repair my Legacy SD40. Hopefully it doesn't need to go back to Lionel...cross border shipping can be expensive and time consuming. It sure does run great though! Slower than a snail on Prozac. With no sounds on (not my choise...it's the RS 5.0 that needs repair) it operates so quiet, almost unatural. Love the directional markers as well as the ditch lights. Definitely the best running engine in my roster. I'll wait for the sounds to be repaired before I try out the smoke.

Morning all
Getting ready to trek north for class.
Mitch Congrats on t he car, hope it does good for you
I opened the door from old garage to addition yesterday, and got one side of the OSB down in the truss web. As I was finishing I looked at the 8 x 30 expanse of sheating and the thought of laying track came to mind. Access would be a little rough.
Got to go
May God bless

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a cold 20 degrees. Going up to 34 today, with cloudy skies.
Today is a busy day around the house. I have a few chores to do and some needed cleaning. Good day for it. Later, I may run trains and take a break. I need to get into a schedule for the train room. Scenery is slow and takes some time.
Dining car has arrived and it's time for breakfast. later.
Y'all have a great Saturday.
Chuck
Mornin' boys. Cloudy and 27 here in the Mid-Atlantic region, with flurries called for later. All you germ-factories take the booth over by the window, and don't be huggin' all over me. Home-made chicken noodle soup is on me.
mitchie - Former V.P. Al Gore is very proud of you, and will be waving to you from his big Lear Jet as he passes over G'berg. Prius...not as fun to say as minions.
88 - Congrats are in order, Dr. Frahn-ken-shteen.
twaldie - ROANOKE is the place where you can simply drink in the action, that's for sure. If I lived there, I'd never get my layout built. I like the pedestrian overpass, yet hate that it's encased in glass.
Morning. The wife and I made a sucessful invasion on the south. Even managed bring some cold weather along with us. I thought Florida would at least be in the 70's. Had a great night with friends good food, drink, and fun. Going to help run some speaker wire then off to Epcot for a tour around the beergarden then dinner in Germany.Hope you feel better chief. have a great day all I know I will.

HI GIZ,
24 and cloudy with a little bit o flurries this morning. Cleaned track and ran trains last nite for 2 hrs, all great NO PILE UPS! I had to change a section of track, didn't like the s curve, I noticed some shavings of metal and did not want to harm engines. Runs more effecient now.
BRUCE sorry to hear bout your SD40. Do you have the CN version? Hope it gets fixed?
CHIEF, say HI to PE.
All B good.

Laz,
Yes, it's the CN version. The SD40 is kinda outta tune with what I usually run on the layout. Had restricted myself to owning first generation diesels up until now. But hey! Ya takes what theys gots for sale when it comes to this new system and I'm very pleased with this puppy.
And there's even better news to report. After posting last night I decided to put an hour of run time on the engine. At one point I shut down Legacy completely and the engine idle/shut down sounds just kept on playing...and playing. So I yanked the battery I had installed last week, ( I like the delayed shutdown sounds the battery provides ) effectively killing the sounds. Back on track and up and running the sound now works perfectly with no static or cutting out. Nice to know I saved myself a trip to the LHS which you can see would have been a big waste of time. Better yet, I'm good to go with Legacy. Just to prove to myself that I wasn't dreaming I ran the SD40 again this morning and it's still working perfectly. Hope all your repairs are as simple.

GREAT JOB, BRUCE. Sometimes it is the little things that are so overlooked. Good luck with the SD. I love mine. I have the NS version and maybe save up and get the CN one? Do you have the dummy unit?
GOOD MORNING,
It's about 20 degrees and snow showers, weather guy wrong again, suppose to get four days in the 30s now he says tues.& wed. I got the laundry going and breakfast done(wife fixed that) so I'll spend some time on here meandering and trains later. boy winter seems longer after football season is over. There's enough indoor stadiums to have a longer season. After all hockey goes on forever.
Kurt and Brutus, thanks for the Amazon tip, found what I wanted at a great price but didn't go for two as I was tired and not in the mood to window shop.
EVERYONE Have a SAFE weekend,,,,,,,Sir James

Better than chicken soup...
Runs well except through MTH Realtrax switches. Arcs all the time. Can not run it slowly through them. Sloppy built drive train. Axles have too much side to side slop. This was done to allow them to run through 031 switches. The axle gears will almost disengage from other gears. The GP35 with Legacy is not that way.
Morning all. Morning here. Very cloudy. Found out why this is a big Holiday Inn and so far from Interstate. It is attached to an enclosed waterworld. Hotel was empty when I got here. Last night when I got back from eating with Pigseye, parking lot was full. Ten million little munchkins running all over the place. Had to call front desk on neighboring room. Kids had TV so loud it woke me up at 12:30 AM. Could hear it all over the hall too. Kids and parents were running up and down the hall at that time in bathing suits. Got quite after I called. Free breakfast??? Can't get in the breakfast room for munchkins running all over the place. Do parents NOT make their kids behave anymore. Just sit there and ignore them and let them run wild. Off to the store. BTW: cold and cloudy. Snow on the way.

It's a toss up: I'm thinking either Bergermeister Meisterberger, or Baron Bomburst...
Had a good visit with the Chief last night. I think this cold weather is working on the poor little southern boy bones today We went out to eat at Chilis and I even managed to stick him with the bill. HA.....Too bad he could'nt get sweet tea....but if he had wanted Starbucks, we have one on every corner. Too bad about the motel....and yes it does have an indoor water park/bowling alley/indoor amusement park attached.
I have'nt posted much in the last few months....life happens I guess, and all the trains are packed up awaiting the next layout to be built in the new house. Problem is , like a lot of places the real estate market for sales sucks here right now.
At any rate is was good to meet and greet the Chief. He really is a nice guy no matter what Buckeye says.

Mitch, congrats on the new car. A friend at work bought a hybrid and really likes it - plus he gets really great mileage so far. Bruce, good news on your locomotive, glad it got fixed so easily. Doug, aside from a toy train store or hardware store, book stores are my favorite place to spend some time. Jim SP, good news on that garage - you sure did a lot of work, I'll bet you are really proud. Chief, hate to say but most folks just let their kids run wild - makes it harder to discipline our own kids too.
Jason, what are the temps in Orlando now?
Got up at 5 AM and stopped for donuts at Harters, a great little bakery near my house. Co-workers really liked that treat - I bought enough for all to have 3 donuts. Girls didn't eat as much so there were 12 left over for Monday. I have to admit, I ate 3 of them - but they were sooooo gooood
WOrked 6 hours - cases that were set aside for OT. Well, they were picked over, that's what I think. Why do people cheat and rob time/work from people they have to work with for years and years. No brains, I guess :(
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

100.00 in Old Confederate dollars.
Good afternoon all,
It is a cloudy but slightlly warmer day in SE Indiana with temps in the 30s. Got the March CTT yesterday and have been enjoying that. Did weights and track last night and track work today at the YMCA. Lucas is going with his friend and his friend's aunt and uncle to see Heywood Banks in Indy tonight. My daughter Rachel called about 10 PM Friday to let us know her internship for her master's degree in social work had been approved. She was relieved to get that news because she should be able to graduate in May now. Lucas came home early last night because her girlfriend's grandfather had passed away. She was not really close to him, but her dad was pretty upset. He had been in failing health for a while so it was not unexpected.
Watched the first hour of the 24 Hours of Daytona today. It is interesting seeing two types of cars on the track at the same time. Will probably watch the finish over at my dad's tomorrow.
The dining car had bacon and biscuits this morning. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana

What is the diameter of the traction tire. I am just wondering if one from a K-Line Mikado would fit. Have a couple extras of those around here somewhere. Let me know.
I remember K-Line selling the Mikado at the same time they were selling the Alleghany that Greg mentions above. Never-less, these guys should be able to help you if Greg does not have a spare or two.

YES, they would not take Confederate money here. Kids running wild all over the hotel. Teeny boppers running into the business center to look up boys' numbers to call them on their cells.
Just talked to Tim and he was laughing. Not as hard as his wife who answered the phone.
SNOWING LIKE CRAZY!!!
Interstate is two blown lanes in each directions. Roads and streets are snow. Fine powdery snow and not the big we slicky stuff we get in NC. Actually drive on it real good. I did see a Toyota Corolla in front of me having a time but I figured it was a driver from Ohio. Up to the room and eat popcorn and watch TV. Wife is doing better so that is a relief. Time for my meds anyway. Probably not coming down any more till morning. The Laptop locks into the internet but when I try to load a page, it says not connected. Updates my Google side bar with no trouble. I think this guy's new Vrision internet service and Vista are not talking. Later.
