Sounds like a nice journey, Mel. The Silver Meteor is never early.

More project work. Making the bobber caboose that came with the Thomas freight set more of a brake van: cut off the cupola, gradually widened its space so I could glue the roof right in. Took off the end ladders. It rolled off the bench and broke a coupler. Rats.

Building a lattice to hold up the roof on the Downtown Deco 'burger stand. It's far too small. I must've put the walls wrong. Intend to paint it some eve after the youngest is abed as I'll be using 'his' paints. Wink [;)]

Evening all,

About to wrap up my day at work.  Pretty quiet.  Just a few of us here.

Chief-Thanks for a new pot.

Laz-Happy Birthday, wish you many more

Buckeye-Going to be in Columbus this Friday afternoon.  I PM'd you, I think.  I may of messed it up.

Going home soon and finish with the instalation of the 594 track gang on the layout.  I need to move some track to give a little more clearance, and the activation switch needs some tweaking.  It is neat little accessory.  Two guys with jackhammers vibrate and when a train comes along the weight activates a switch where the jackhammer guys stop amd move back and pegleg pete moves forward

Happy New year

Jim

Happy New Year to one and all.

Happy was Baby New Year's name.

Not much goin' on around the woods these days... just trying to stay warm and out of the wind. Broke down and bought a Husqvarna chainsaw last week, my father's didn't start when I tried to use it, needed 2 screws and a new chain oil plug, so I bought those parts while I was at the service center and decided I should just go ahead and get one for myself.

Buckeye, best o' luck with the Tigers on Monday - I think the Buckeyes are going to need it.

Spent the day putting new brakes on Susan's car.  Without them she wouldn't be able to stop - they were down to metal on metal... told her she needs to tell me BEFORE she finds the car won't stop as quickly as before... Banged Head [banghead]

Chief - thanks for the award! Does it come with a cash bonus to help pay for repairs???

The first day of 2008 has been a full one. Ran trains with the boys. Then sledding, snow man building, fort building and snow ball throwing followed by driveway clearing and then one last holiday dinner party. We all enjoyed a wonderful dinner of roast beef stuffed with spinach and prosciutto, oven roasted potatos, gravy, peas, brussel sprouts, biscuits...and a wonderful German wine! After dinner we all headed for the den and enjoyed a roaring fire in the fireplace. Perfect end to a great family weekend!

Back to work tomorrow. I'm glad. I can use the rest!  Wink [;)]

Time for one of those egg rolls I stashed away last night!

Good evening all,

It has been a snowy day in SE Indiana with temps in the 20s.  Finished the companion book to Ken Burns' series on World War 2.  It was a good book.  Got a haircut.  My wife and I watched "Waitress" with Keri Russell.  It was good as well.  It was a good day to stay inside.  It is back to work tomorrow.  We had bacon and biscuits on the dining car from "Points East".  Thank you for the award, Chief.  I will have it framed.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Had typed a reply and then it went away.  Don't know if it was the forum software or this new PC.

So that it doesn't happen again, I will just say.

Happy New Year!

Thanks.  Our economy in Buckeyeland depends so much on the wins and losses of the Scarlet and Grey.  It is unbelievable.  Illinois is getting their lunch handed to them by USC.  Not surprising.

Happy birthday LAZHappy B-Day [bday]!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good evening everyone,

It was a relaxing day. I finally took a full shower today, because earlier I couldn't get all the way upstairs. It felt so good. I had 2 friends over today which took my mind off of the pain.

Have a good evening everyone.

That's it, you win it Dwayne!

Honorable mention to 88 for the full name, too!

Well, yesterday I got some insulation done and was going to get more done today, but wife needed to go to mall looking for a coat and so we spent the afternoon and evening there.  Did get to eat at Noodles, which is always great.  They had a store at the mall selling board and card games, including a big board game based on Railroad Tycoon.  I think I read about that a year ago or so - anybody here ever play it?

Welcome to all and hope to see lots of posts and train fun in the new year!

Evening to All

Happy B-Day [bday] Happy Birthday LAZHappy B-Day [bday]!!!

TMCC  - Glad to see you are now able to get upstairs for a shower.  I was gonna suggest we open a window if you hadn't taken a shower soon Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg].

Brent - brakes are a pain.  Hope they don't give you any problems.   I got a chain saw from the Mrs. for Christmas.  It is an electric model.  It's just big enough to cut up branches and the like. I used it to cut up a Lilac that was split by the ice storm we had a few weeks back. It worked great.

Didn't work on the layout but did take a nice nap while watching some football.  The Pork and Sauerkraut was great.

Take care,

Nearly 80 posts the first day!!!  The pot certainly is popular!  That's a LOT!

Finalized all the wiring for the new Flatscreen in the bar area of the train room.  Can now play video, DVD, Cable TV, and any of the game boxes.  All wires secured and concelled.  Watched Rose Bowl while finalizing, was hoping that Illinois would be a surprise and pull it off, but no luck.  They wern't even a challenge.

Worked in train room, relocated and mounted TIU, and 2 AIU modules.  They are now mounted under the layout attached to the frame.  Now have a definite end place for wiring, so was a major achievement.  Control panel now begining to come alive.  Have Legacy base on top of layout for now, kinda like the lights.

Going to be hard getting the 15 minutes in tomorrow.  Need to go to the club tomorrow night.

Thanks for the award Chief, we had a windy day today, and suppose to get rain starting on Thursday, all the way through next Tuesday or Wednesday.  Things could get a little slippery soon.  We are actually located in a flat area, and wont see any impacts.

Talk to you all tomorrow!

Hello All,

Here are my resolutions for 2008, well, at least in terms of trains.

1. Do more railfanning, and try to do it when the trains are running (My local railway is a shortline)

2. Buy more Trains (Lionel TMCC Pennsy Mike Set, TMCC Controller and other things, a ZW transformer, a set of Williams Burlington Streamliners to re-letter, an MTH Railking #611 N&W J, MTH Railking Southern Ps4, alot of Fastrack and some switches, some more freight cars, a set of Lionel Smooth-side N&W Streamliners, and alot of maybes)

3. Work more to GET more money to PAY for the trains.

That just about does it for the trains, but I feel I should bore you with the other non-train things.

1. Do better in school (study harder, do my homework when its SUPPOSED to be done and do it right, don't fall asleep in French Class, etc....)

2. Listen to may parents more and do what they say the first time (WHOA BOY, I'm gonna need help on this one.

3. Get another job and work more to have gas and.... trains.

4. Try to tone down my teenage attitude (I'll need ALOT of help on this one)

5. Exercise more and maybe loose a few pounds (Gotta keep the ladies happy)

That seems like everything. Happy New Year everyone.

Cheese

Nick! :)

Good morning from New England!

28 degrees here, a little south of Kooljock.

Watched some TV before turning in last night. Dirty Jobs. Not a bad show.

The holidays are fun. Endless dinner parties, birthday parties, holiday gatherings...Enjoyed them all, but glad to be back to my old routine!

Breakfast this morning is a cup or two of tea and some leftover eggrolls with some apple pie for "dessert". Dinner [dinner]

Morning and good night. Time to get some sleep 12 hours plowing snow 11 hours with the family , ya know because the kids still got up at 7:00 am on the first. You would think staying up till 12:30 on new years eve thay would have slept a few extra hours. Only four hours sleep in the past 48 hours. Iam tired and Iam going to bed. I hate it when I have to go back to work after a few days off, my sleeping schedule gets all messed up. That is the one bad thing about third shift.   I dont think there will be any time for trains today. There goes that 15 min. of train time per day already.
