Morning from Buckeyeland where the landscape has been painted white by Mother Nature.  Big Smile [:D]Remember we only get on the average 28 inches of snow a season and we just were handed 20.5 inches. Shock [:O]

Send Don a few photos of Ohio snow.  That should cheer him up.

If I could find the Garden RR, I thought about running the trains in the snow, but it is only 10 degrees and the grease freezes at this temperture.

A cold but sunny Good Morning from SE Mich. I am sitting with my back to the window and the sun rays feel good, but it's 13 degrees outside. Going up from here and through the week. I am at this time just wasting my time until my friend comes by, then off to the little train show. Maybe I will find a must have treasure today, maybe but not likely. Have a great  sunday and I shall return..........S.J.

Morning to All,

Pretty windy and cold here in SOuth Central PA.  Supposed to warm up to about 50.  I sure hope it does because I am supposed to grill chicken for our son's family birthday dinner.  Grilling chicken for 12 people in the freezing cold is no fun, I've done it before.

Our son is home and it is great to have him, but boy does it throw our routine into a tizzy.  Out all night, sleep all day.  Plus he has high school buddies home for the week due to Spring Break which means we'll never see him except when he is sleeping.

Well, I got to get in the shower and get ready for church.

Take care,

Mitch

We have one son.  My wife says having one child allows us to "double team."  However, what she doesn't know is that with a son, when it comes to model trains and such, she may be the one that gets double teamed. Wink [;)]

Hello Jack:

Thanks for the support.  The back is amazing.  I was reading an article about maintaining good business relationships.  The author reported that if he could not remember someone that he was about to talk to, he would ask how his back was.  Invariably, the respondent would respond affirmatively and be appreciative that the guy was considerate enough to remember.  Big Smile [:D] It just goes to show that back problems seem to be like death and taxes. Mornin' boys.  Mornin' English.  Sunny, blustery & 30 (feels like 19) in the Mid-Atlantic region.  No complaining; could be digging out of 20 inches of snowhizo in Columbus!  I think today, former VP GORE should fly into Jacobs Field for a global-warming seminar.

0730GMT in a bright, sunny Stockport +3C. Forecast is for a storm coming in from the Atlantic, promises to be the worst so far this winter. Wind blew some containers off a train the other day, blocked one of our main N-S lines for a while. I reckon this storm is the scrag end of the one that gave you guys a bashing a week ago, so expect horror stories of a chimney pot falling off or telephone pole coming down.

 Windy

Have a good day.

John: Take care of that back.  I had similar problems.  Fell asleep on the couch and woke up in a deep hurt.  Took 3 weeks to knock it down.....MRI, a 63 year old (experienced) neuro surgeon referral, rest, pain killers, muscle relaxants, and both steroidal and non steroidal anti-inflammatory meds.

CSX and Kurt:  GO FOR IT! A while back SIL and a buddy started a diet/exercise regime.  Weigh-ins on Saturdays.  If they make their weekly targets, they and family celebrate with dinner out. Program is "Body For Life."  Combo diet and exercise.  Goal is lifestyle change for both. There is no calory counting.  BFL emphasizes portion sizes and dietary balance with recommended substitues, four meals a day, the minimum 64 oz. water per day, and vitamins.  BFL schedules one day a week to do/eat as you please, no restrictions.  But the weight training and cardio are integral (metabolism increase).  Uncomplicated. No cravings.  No binging. No deprivation really. The book spells it all out.  It works.  I've already got the "free day" down pat......not the rest of it.

Colin, not to beat a dead horse.  My father put it this way.  Your driving a two ton weapon that kills.  It can be replaced, but you can't.  Sounds like you need a power generator so you can run those trains regardless of the ComEd problems.

Fife, I feel your pain.  Two women under roof????  Unfair.

All you snowbound folks......normal annual snowfall here is 42 inches, hit 143 inches one year.  We've had a couple of 33 inchers the past 10 years or so.  Drifts nearly to the top of the garage doors and no sign of the car in the driveway.

Sir James, I'm on the way - just got done playing board games with the family and got the kids to bed.  Had a pretty great day with the son!  Need to get a window replaced in the basement - this is a pain.  I think the seal went bad and quick change in temp broke it?  Only the inside glass.  I'll never get this brand of window ever again, that's for sure.

Good evening all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 30s, but it was an absolute bear driving home Friday night.  The road was dry and clear when I left Indy and I was doing the speed limit plus, but when I got to Shelby County, the roads were starting to get wet and Decatur County (home location) was really bad.  I was driving about 30-40 MPH and just counting the miles.  I saw several slideoffs and wrecks on the way home.  We shoveled the sidewalks and behind the barn, and somebody cleared the alley with a blade on an ATV.  I got the rental out to get something from Wendy's but that was it.  It was nice on the backporch today.  I ran the 10E and the 384E for about two hours combined.  I also worked on the Lego building.

Tmcc man, glad to see you back.  Please be careful driving.  You are about the same age as Lucas and I worry about him driving as well.  Doug, good to see you back as well and glad to hear you are feeling better.  I hope all the Ohio people get dug out of the Snohiozone!  My wife watched "North by Northwest" last night.  It had some nice train scenes.  Lucas had his girlfriend over and we played Aggravation.  It was fun.  There was bacon and biscuits on the dining car this morning for breakfast.  I also got an e-mail from my Norwegian soccer friend, which always brightens my day.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

The secret is to surround your self with positive people who will support your effort and along with exercise drink lots of water(they tell me 64 oz a day) and avoid salt as much as you can.

I am going to do an exercise routine including strength training and cardio activities probably tread mill to help the optifast diet along as the first few weeks it is water weight that you lose first(salt causes you to retain water.)

Anyone who has challenges with diets I would recomend the optifast as it works well and they have a doctor a nurse and a nutrionist to monitor your progress.

It has been a good day for movies on TV first was the Faculty a horror movie I have not seen before and at the moment Road to perdition is on.Thumbs Up [tup]

No mail today we had 14 inches here in south columbus with 2 foot drifts here and there.

Good evening everyone,

We lost power for about 2 hours, while I happened to be playing xbox live, in the basement, where there are no windows. All I can say is thank god for cell phones, for the little light it gives off helped me through the dark. It was pouring all day here, and then as soon as the rain stopped the wind started. It was such a nasty wind, and it was really dark.

Other than that, it was a very uneventful day.

Have a good evening everyone.

Hello to all

An uneventful day. The big storm just missed us and the blowing snow we had today must have landed in ohio as there is no new snow on the ground. We did decide not to go to the Toledo show as we are not sure of road conditions there. So the little TTOS show close to home will be it for tomorrow. Those forum friends deep in snow have my sympathy, however I must say better you than me. I am tired of it.Detroit area is apx. 2 feet over average for this winter.

Brutus,Doug,Kurt, stop by for a rootbeer float or just banilla if you want...Goodnite Chewy,,S.J.

Afternoon all!

Had a good train club meeting this morning. We are approaching 20 members since we reformed the club last fall! Work is progressing on the rebuilt modular layout (16 x 28 feet) for the Thomas event in a couple of weeks. We are rewiring it for faster install and teardown. We got a deal on those two prong trailer light quick disconnect plugs (100 at $1.19 each/pair and handle over 10 amps) and are using them between module sections so all we have to do is connect the plugs. Before we were using terminal strips and wire nuts and it took a couple of hours to get it wired for each show. Now it will be 10 minutes!

Buckeye, SJ, Chuck, and those nawth of the MD line - have you guys had your snowball fight yet? How are the snow forts coming along?

Just checked outside and hey - it is not snowing here! Evil [}:)]

Hope yuz giz are having a great day!

Hello Lee:

Aren't backs a b****?  My boss has had similar back problems and, he too, swears by a chiropractor.  I have been getting a set of epidural injections (steroid solution injected into the lumbar area of the nerve) and they were working great.  I had what was to be the last set of injections on Thursday 2/28.  I felt fantastic the next day.  I had a golf lesson on Saturday and must of overdid it. Sad [:(]  It felt like I was back to square one.  I then had to go out of town on business and that only multiplied the problem.  So, we will see how I feel after I finish this five day course of oral steroids.  I may be calling a chiropractor in the future.
