Reggie.

I have just been through what you are going through except we moved from Texas to England.  Most corporate relocations from Houston provided for air conditioned storage.  Does yours?  I took down my layout and packed everything away.  Only I could not decide which trains to bring so I brought them all.  It takes 1/2 of an extra bedroom to store it all (fortunately we got a 5 bedroom house).  Still, I am glad I brought them with.  I am now planing a Christmas layout.

Buckeye - I'm 99 percent certain that they did NOT move to South Africa, but that he did move and switched to N gauge due to space constraints.

Here is one thread that touched on it:

as for layout the one i have at home is on post ponement till i get back in november and for up here a simple loop to keep me sane and see a train run

i have been to a couple hobbyshops up here in vancouver, bc and i can say i have bought alot of n scale trains as in 2 kato sd90's and 70 plus pieces of intermountian/deluxe innovations/red caboose rolling stock. with more to buy as the birthday is coming up on the 10th of october. havent been to any meets or train shows up here yet. the one show i had a chance to go to i had an away game and that was the big show but maybe next time.
