Morning all!

Front has barrelled through. Temps moderating, 88 for a high today! Only got a spit of rain. Too bad as we need it here.

Buckeye - Flyer All Aboard panels were a set of interlocking square 'dominos' where one could assemble an S ga layout. Curved, straight, crosover, switch panels were availble. Pretty scarce. I haven't seen any at York in years. The winter/snow scene panels are very rare.

Fife - Laugh

Eye doc appt later to get the new (messed up) lenses analyzed to see what went wrong.

Good Afternoon from overcast 84°F Southern Ohio,

Thanks guys on the contgrats on the 40 years.  It helps to be married to your best friend.

I may have to start night shift early.  The night supervisor has to take the last two night shifts off and I start a month of nights on Aug. 6th.  I’m hoping one of the other supervisors will take it.

Buckey - The All Aboard Panels was an idea was thrown around the Gilbert test labs called the “Scenearama” in the late 50’s and were produced in 1964 & 1965, about the time Gilbert was on it’s deathbed as far as their toy trains go.  The ingenious design based on 17” x17” plastic panel with track already mounted and locations for scenery, and roadways.  The roadway and track locations allowed various configurations for layouts that were in essence an “instant” layout with track, scenery roads and buildings.  The track was the pikemaster track and there were left and right curves, and switches, a crossover, and straight panels.  The houses were like the plasticville pieces.  The panels were connected with the track pins as well a spring clip that went in an open rivet that held the track to the panel and connected not only the panel but provided a continuous wire buss under the panels.  When I have had my All Aboard set up at train shows it garners a bit of attention because it is quite unique as far as layouts go.  It has it’s limitations.  It is not rivet counter realistic, and the pikemaster curves are tight, but as it was advertised, it is a layout in a box.

May God bless

Jim

Yup - the 'to do after retirement' list is pretty long.  A mix of honey do's and I wanted to do this for a long time type of project.  My wife wants some changes in our place up north and the 100 year old house here always needs something.

The NYC LionChief Hudson showed up Saturday.  Have not run it yet, but it looks pretty good sitting in the box.  If it runs like the Berkshire, I'll be happy.

Thoughts and prayers for those needing healing.

All for now.

Good evening all,

Made it home from Mid-Ohio.  Race went as expected.  Disaster for Foyt team.  Did get to talk to some people before race.  Weather was great.  Dry but cloudy and cool.  Drive home today was good.  Stur-fish, congrats on 40 years!  Got yard mowed tonight. Tired.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Hello there,

Got the grass mowed this AM before the rains came down. Broke the July rainfall record  last week before 3 days of rain and more this week. Used sons zero turn to get done ahead of the rain. Added fertilizer to the garden and some flowers too. The maters are standing still but the cauliflower, broccoli and Brussels sprouts may make something.

Got the latest CTT. In the words of Jed Clampett....PITIFUL.

  Best sleep.

Prayers for those in need

Morning 'Potters!

74 right now (means it is snowing in Ohizo) and headed to 90 today. Nice low hoomidity! Thumbs Up

Spent 2 hours at the eye doc yesterday getting a detailed exam to figure out why my new prescription did not work. Both my eyes require prism and with the development of cataracts, it makes the prescription diagnosis more complicated/hard to get right. Now i have to head back to the optometrist today with revised prescription in hand. This has interfered with the El Cam work, which will get further delayed with other stuff taking precedence in the near future.

DJ - prayers for your MIL Angel

CHIEF tomorrows the first stay alert tonight.

I'm just passing by. No rain in so long that I sold our lawn to a farmer as straw. Some of our club members got together Saturday and took a trip to beautiful Ohio to visit a train store, the Mad River & NKP museum and then a popular train viewing site. long day but nice.

Mornin' All.

The BetterHalf and I met with the surgeon yesterday. Went well, my other Dr's are on-board so now I only have to chat with my oncologist who returns from vacation this Friday. THINK POSITIVE !

Continued hot-n-dry for the forseeable future. Grumpy So far we have been pretty lucky here. A fire just north of town which they jumped on really quick and kept it relatively smallcompred to others going on in the state. Another one broke out on the south edge of town out by the Zoo's Wild Animal Park. They really got after this one, I guess based on where it was Calfire, city, county, mutual aid, and tribal units were all over it. Not to mention the air support, both rotary and fixed wing assets were deployed. Even Sacredemento sent down the retardent dropping DC-10. It was something to see that big bird flying in-n-out of some of these canyons, that flight crew must really have some big you know whats.

Sad to hear of the losses some of the fire crews have endured fighting the bigger fires around the state. Prayers for their families.

My turn to do lunch this Friday, thought about chili but it's to darn hot. Now the plan is for Pulled Pork sandwiches with cool crisp Cole Slaw.  Dinner   Hmmm, chili reminds me of a visitor we had some years back:

Roy, Do you believe that was 8 years ago ?

Well, time for morning meds. Later all !

Afternoon fellas

Been mega busy around the house trying to get some projects done, vacations, etc.

Christina had her first sleep away camp with Girl Scouts last week, she had fun but doesn't want to go again because she missed us and didn't like the latrine.

Hard to believe she will be 7 years old tomorrow.

Hope all are well. Prayers for those in need.

Been nice here but the lowest rain fall in a July since 1941 for us. Need some bad. Crops still look good all things considered.

#1 son and his wife and oldest daughter are heading to St Martin tomorrow as a gift to the daughter for her high school graduation, so we will have the other two kids for a day before they go to the other grandparents. Otherwise slow summer here.

Phish, nice going on getting your train room on line.

Dougda, hope things work out for you with the doctors.

Chief, we could use some of that rain out here.  Lot of fires around the state but so far none are bothering me.

I have had some issues with my left knee for some time but it got worse about a week ago.  Have a hard time walking.  I have an appointment with an orthopaedic doctor on Thursday morning.  I'm also having my upper partial redesigned to make up for a tooth I had pulled so I'm without my upper teeth until tomorrow around noon.  Have not been able to eat much for two days.

I got some new casual shoes like running shoes from a specialty store.  These shoes were close to $200.  I have never paid that much before for tennis shoes.  Then I looked inside and it said, made in U.S.A.  I guess that's the price we pay for buying American.  I'm not sure about this store but my DIL, a nurse recommended it.  We'll see how it works out.

Got some parts for the Lionel 6222 bell ringing switcher I bought recently.  Just waiting for a good time to put these parts on the shell.  Hardest part will be drilling out a broken off hand rail.  It will take a small diameter drill bit and maybe turn by hand since the handrail material is made of zinc or something hard.  A friend told me the drill bit might grab and break on a power drill.

Good evening all,

Kevin, you can have our rain.  Way too much.  Grass stays green and grows so I have to mow it.  Did some errands today and went to first full practice with junior high kids.  Lord of mercy, what have I done?  Basically good kids but lots and lots of energy.  Off and on rain all day today.  Latest CTT no thinner than the past few years.  Really enjoyed the article on the 1050.   I hope everybody has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana
