Good Morning Gang!

I'm a wee bit under "it" this AM - "dreamt" I was awake all night! [|)] Just retgurned from the morning mile with Juneau the Wonder Husky (and Mascot of "Our" Place). Now that the temps are in the low 40's during early mornin', the walks are rather brisk as is the air. We both love it .... [tup]

I see there's some activity to respond to, so I'll give it a "go."

Nick You party animal - don't know how you do it - but Gawd love ya, mate. Must be a tough life, having to perform for such lively and attractive folks. Surely would keep my blood pumpin' [swg]! Party on! [tup]

All the pix came thru (Email sent to you) and they will wind up on the Sunday Photo Posting Day! in two installments. Gotta spread 'em out in order to keep the guys comin' back and of course keep our thread "up" on the page. [tup] Thanx.

Rob Carol - my Canadian - says that the turkey preparation is just fine, but go ahead and skip the 'Possum stuffing! <grin> That's a nice touch, a back bacon wrap 'round the bird. [swg]

Sauerkraut eating contest [?] Really [?] Good Gawd Gertie - I hope we have sufficient "suds" to wash it all down - and away! [swg] Boris stay AWAY from that tent - no, no, no - you do quite well without the added "energy." <good grief>

Doug Two things: First - an apology for my rather abrupt manner. Seems that I had been watching one of our "regulars" dance 'round with the Phantom Browsing bit on and off for a couple of days. Kinda ticks me off that he doesn't Post - but that's my problem, not yours. Forgiveness! [swg]

Second: I think it's great the White Sox made it to the next round - it's only right that the best team in the AL did so. Congrats to them and their fans. [wow][yeah] Now, I'm am in no way sad that the Red Sox lost - however, if YOUR team had been thorouoghly embarrassed by a 4 game World Series sweep and YOUR team had a chance at redemption, wouldn't YOU feel as I [?] The Cardinals and White Sox would be a terrific World Series match up. Been awhile for the "south siders," 1959 in fact. I recall listening to the games against the LA Dodgers while I was in Alaska. All the games were carried on the Armed Forces Radio Network - which really was the only network up there at the time. Okay - 'nuf said. OJ for all, on me [#offtopic].

Rob Nice "juice" write up and very informative. I suggest you give us the page numbers for the other two and from time to time, refresh our memories (as I do in the Summaries, otherwise these excellent renditions get lost in the Ether.

Catch y'all later at OKTOBERFEST![tup][tup]

G'day and good luck to all of you, "as much as you can eat" Saurkraut ("Victory Gabbage") Contestants. PHEW! There will be a special area corridoned off for this one time only event. Bunson burners are prudently located about and in sufficient numbers to allay any offensive social indiscretions.[#oops] Tom, in keeping with the weekly observance of "October Fest," I'll have a Lowenbrau Dunkle Bier in my personall Stein, if you please, viele danke. Please remember Tomorrow is "Photo Posting Day." No need to be backward or shy. If you doubt the quality of your pix; wait until you see the rubbish I have on offer.[:O]

Rob, your erudition on the M. & S.C. Rwy is a virtuoso effort.[tup] BTW, Carol, Fergie, Chris and Rob, the "Our" Place pantry is fully stocked and under Nick's professional guidance. The Dominion's Thanksgiving Day Banquet should leave nothing unattended for Every Member's enjoyment and palate. The proverbial Turkey will, of course, be the principal entree prepared as prescribed.[^]

Between Nick, Pete and Troy, a very welcome "breath of rarified air" is now a "custom" feature for all to enjoy. Are we a "cosmopolitan" group, or what?[tup] [tup] Nick I am anxiously awaiting the Glyn Valley Tramway pix tomorrow. My guess is this narrow gauge Rwy will have the same quaint charm as the Village of Skibbereen, Ireland, my maternal Great Grandfather's birth place. I don't doubt he would've been very familiar with the Line, thanks for remembering.

West Coast Dave, the trundeling, teetering, motion of cars on the S. P. ROW brings to mind some Short Lines I have witnessed in total disbelief.[:O] If we were to effect this phenomenon on our model Pikes, people would ridicule it. Yet, sadly, it was quite a common sight along nearly abandoned lonely spurs. I did witness a U.S.R.A. 0-6-0 derail near my father's offices in K.C., MO back in the 1940's. It took a 100 ton R.R. Crane to finally arrive for resuming shifting duties in the Armor Packing Plant sidings.

Hear ye, hear ye!, Wednesday Oct. 12th is the official observance of "Our" Place' six month [bday]. I know it is a semi-annual event but there will be nothing half way about our pleasure when reading past R.R.ing experiences of our fellow Member's. Please remember the coveted and prestigious "Silver Throttle" award is open to all submissions. The culinary treats, entertainments and comoradia alone will be well worth your partcipating.[tup] Okay Boris, after you pull your Lederhosen up from the floor, please give us a "pull" for a round. Yes, now...NOW! BUUUNG I don't want to know, "I don't want to know!"[:(!] Happy rails all.

And now for something a bit different, but somehow appropriate for Oktoberfest!

European commission has just announced an agreement whereby English will be the official language of the European Union rather than German, which was the other possibility.

As part of the negotiations, the British Government conceded that English spelling had some room for improvement and has accepted a 5- year phase-in plan that would become known as "Euro-English".

In the first year, "s" will replace the soft "c". Sertainly, this will make the sivil servants jump with joy.
The hard "c" will be dropped in favour of "k". This should klear up konfusion, and keyboards kan have one less letter.

There will be growing publik enthusiasm in the sekond year when the troublesome "ph" will be replaced with "f". This will make words like fotograf 20% shorter.

In the 3rd year, publik akseptanse of the new spelling kan be expekted to reach the stage where more komplikated changes are possible. Governments will enkourage the removal of double letters which have always ben a deterent to akurate speling.
Also, al wil agre that the horibl mes of the silent "e" in the languag is disgrasful and it should go away.

By the 4th yer people wil be reseptiv to steps such as replasing "th" with "z" and "w" with "v".

During ze fifz yer, ze unesesary "o" kan be dropd from vords kontaining "ou" and after ziz fifz yer, ve vil hav a reil sensi bl riten styl.
Zer vil be no mor trubl or difikultis and evrivun vil find it ezi tu understand ech oza. Ze drem of a united urop vil finali kum tru.
Und efter ze fifz yer, ve vil al be speking German like zey vunted in ze forst plas.

Enjoy! [swg]

Oh Teddy Bear I'm waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaiting!

You haven't forgotten YOUR Chrissy now have you [?] [sigh]

Mornin' Mr. Manager Ted - I see YOU have someone waitin' for ya; she's been here since yesterday mornin' for cripes sake! Give the gal a break, man. <geesh>

Appreciate the "plug" for our upcoming 6th Month Anniversary on Oct 12th! Should be a winner, given that the guys share some of their PERSONAL railroadin' experiences. Silver Throttle Awards get recommended by the Manager and approved by the Committee. That should keep it straight enough ... [tup]

I've got one more Post to make this AM, just to keep our thread "honest" and in keeping with our theme of CLASSIC TRAINS!. Watch for it!

Enjoy the OKTOBERFEST! and watch out for the brown and green clouds behind the Sauerkraut eating contest tent! <ugh> Repulsive, eh [?] Ah, the spirit of it all! [swg]

Gotta run ......

Caveat: If you recall, I had stated that these Fallen Flags represent just some of the PASSENGER roads that I appreciate. They are not inclusive by any means ....... Amtrak & VIA Rail are included because I like 'em! [swg]

Good Morning Tom Time for a coffee and a couple of thoise bakery delights from the Mentor Bakery.
Will give a short follow up to the B&O domes. In 1952 all five B&O domes were shopped and after having lights mounted on the the right side roofs forward of the domes became the first and only dome cars that could light up the countryside at night. These floodlights as they were referred to in B&O literature were nothing more than locomotive headlights with each putting out 250 watts. They were mounted on the roofs at angles of 60,70, 80 and 85 degrees from the cars centerline. An ice breaker was mounted ahead of the lights to protect them from hanging icicles in tunnelsand at stations having overhead platforms. The lights were used outside of the major towns and turned off when passing through heavily populated areas.
The CN leased the three dome sleeping cars between May 1966 and and March 1968 and operated them one per consist in the SUPER CONTINENTAL between Edmonton and Vancouver and did use the night lighting feature as the train wound its way up the Fraser and Thompson River canyons at night. The above quote is from notes I have compiled over the last twenty years on dome cars in the hope of someday releasing an in depth book on the subject of dome cars. The two previous books on dome cars have been somewhat lacking in information. One was from Superior the other was from Kalmbach. I really had to go into my notes to find this information just thought I would share with the group.

Ah yes Chrissy! Not to worry Tom, this ravenous beauty shall not be denied her any wish.[^] I'll try one of Rob's highly touted Carl'sberg biers please. Zo, du hast relatifes im dem Alten Land, nicht zo? No, I won't tell jokes from the smallest book in the world: "200 Years of German Humo(u)r."[(-D] I'm just checking in to see how the entertainment is "going over." Looks like the "Brat Burst Oompah-pah Band" was the biggest "crowd pleaser." That is, until the wind shifted and all but the Tuba Player passed out.[V]

HeyTom, more good data on Fallen Flags! I first noticed the Soo Line when travelling through Iowa, Minnesota and the Dokatas. I actually saw a string of standard heavyweights in tow along side a State highway but lost them before seeing the power units.[:(] Barndad, those are rare Logos indeed. Looking forward to seeing the prototypes that wore the heraldry. I think I mentioned seeing a G. M. & O. Fairbanks Morris diesel streamliner just south of Jolliet, IL barreling south along U.S. Rt. 66 in the late 50's. I was "barreling" north toward Chicago, so it was a brief encounter. The old F. M. was in a pitiable state, belching clouds of blue smoke in its' wake hauling a mixed consist of passenger cars. You would think this "string" was put together by a youngster in his first months of model R.R.ing. I couldn't stop laughing for miles ahead. Oh BTW, the triple boiler (Brit entry) suggested and pictured by pwolfe (hope I'm right) easily captured the steam "eye sore" catagory and Rob's octagonal cab ran a very close second. My "Camel Back" Central of N.J./L.I. R.R. didn't even rate "honorable mention." Couldn't find a consensus for the most nauseating livery. Maybe we can "run" that one by again when things slow down this winter? There is too much good stuff happening at present.[tup]

I haven't retrieved all of my North Shore Line material yet. I'll get on it a.s.a.p.! Truth is, I'm not able to find one of my best references on all the major mid-western interurbans (radials). If I've lost it, shame on me. I haven't seen any editions still available.[xx(] This Topic on traction would probably fit best into a week day time slot. Week ends are pretty busy with photo ops, etc.[tup] See what I can do next week. Passengerfan Al, thanks for the up-date on the B. & O. Domes. Yes, a single book on these 2, (dome) 3 (commuter)and 4 (track crew) deck cars would probably find a reading audience. Finding a publisher who agrees might be a bit tougher.[2c]

Just want to wish everyone sei gezund ACHOO. No Boris, that means "be of good health," not gezundheit as in "bless you." Cretin![alien] See ya all tomorrow for some photo memorabilia, can't wait.[tup] Until then, Happy rails.

I recognize much of this technical data may be meaningless to many – but perhaps others may find something of interest. Without photos it is difficult to envision, but my capability in that area is extremely restricted.

My trip will take place within a week or so .... I will attempt to reconnect with you before then. It appears that the majority of your customers are doing quite well with the renewed vigor of the submissions. Wonderful effort to keep them coming back, Tom!

One more of those please, and a brat with all the trimmings!

Hi Tom and all.

A pint of some German light beer, I am feeling a bit delicate at the moment, and a plate of sausage please.

I can hear that the Sauerkraut eating contest is well under way [:O].I think I'll take a ride on the CAN-AM until it is over.

Thanks PASSENGERFAN for the floodlights on the dome info they must have been fantastic when lighting a snow covered landscape[wow].

Another great on the juice ROB.It is pleasing to know that one of the cars from the system was saved. Using a snow -plow with overhead wires must be a problem[?].

TED So the Q1 won the ugliest engine. The designer O.V.S.Bullied has some strange locos including a Turf Burning loco for Ireland. But with the onset of diesel and electric traction at least he tried some new ideas to keep steam viable.

Talking of Ireland It reminds me of A railfan tour by diesel over a line which had not been used for years but they were hoping a town along the line would generate some freight traffic. DAVE's post on the DVD brought this to mind. the track was in terrible condition in places with speed down to walking pace you could see the locs and cars cork- screwing [oops].

TENBY [wow] NICK just a mention of the name brings back wonderful memories of my youth [tup] and an idea for Wednesday . IT must be the Tenby air that effects the ladies[;)][^][:-,].

BARNDAD. I'm glad I,m not alone for having to abondon the computer when the better half gets back. A SOX v CARDS final would certainly make my local pub ahem "interesting" . [:-,].

TOM liked the Euro-English. When our company was taken over by the French [V], there was a strong rumor that we would be taught French luckily this was abandoned[tup].
They probably didn't want AVEC VOUS UN RAISE DE LA PAY[:)].

Well I,m feeling a bit more human now, unlike BORIS, and ready to enjoy the festiveties [tup] PETE.

G'day All!

Just came back inside from the picnic grounds at the OKTOBERFEST! festivities roarin' on at the Pavillion. Don't know, and quite frankly don't care who won the Sauerkraut eating contest! <grim> From the kegs of brew that have been rolled into that tent .... <phew>, might thirsty bunch in there. [swg]

Interesting Posts and I thank you Pete for acknowledging mine! [tup] It's always a bit disheartening when I see someone put together a Post that I know took time and effort, only to have it largely "blown off" by those who just will not read and/or make reference to it. Shame. That's absolutely NOT what this thread is about and as far as I'm concerned, the door swings both ways 'round here. Take that crap elsewhere .....

I see the keys to the Penthouse Suite are missing. Hmmmmmm, given that only the Manager and I have access to them .... Anyone seen Chrissy lately [?] [}:)][:-,]

Rob Was that Helga 'n Hilda over in the arm wrestling tent [?] <geesh> They are quite a tandem operation for sure. [swg] Will they be attending our Rendezvous in Toronto this May [?]

BK That's quite a composition you put together on those German steam loco's. There ARE pix available, just have to browse the web and they can be found. Good effort and thanx! [tup] Is your trip "on" for Scandanavia [?] If so, do you have room for a stowaway [?] [swg]

I'll let Ted's inclusive response "stand" for me as well. Appreciate those of you who took time out on your weekend to stop by .......

Whaddaythink of the cute little outfit Cindy made for Awk [?] Never saw such small Lederhosen - smaller than doll size. [swg]

I really like looking at those Heralds, don't y'all [?] [tup]

Back to the picnic grounds ...... Oooompa, Ooooompa boom boom [yeah] Fun times at "Our" Place

Well Guten haben, drei bier bitte,Herr [4:-)]TOM-well thats just about exhausted my store of conversational Deutsch--Tom that "EURO-Dictat" was a life saver, had a horrible evening, checked into the bar and within seconds the growl becomes a chuckle becomes a flat out belly laugh-[tup][tup][tup]--nice one mate-thank you [^]-by the by,absolutely 1st class job on the photo album-sensible arrangement and division--Must say,am enjoying the Lederhosen experience-feel the silk-lined Chamois was worth the extra investment-quite looking forward to the dancing...........(dont go there, just hitting a weird patch ) PASSENGERFAN AL-Guten Haben !-nice stuff on dome cars-another gap filled [^]also,a noble attempt to keep the thread on topic-although I suspect you may be fighting a losing battle tonight, never mind-the Crown Royals are on me-sit back and enjoy the show---MANAGER TED......oh, he doesn`t appear to be around just now-I rather think he`s going through a bit of a difficult time,He`s reached the age where once weekly becomes once, weakly and is determined to go down fighting,as are we all-I have to say that I do rather suspect the motives of the mysterious " Chrissie"-is she just after his trombone..? Anyway I will leave a note for him pinned to Awk (that should be worth watching ) concerning worlds worst livery contest-a few ideas spring to mind already-anything with purple in,for a start (not a colour Ive been comfortable with since my daughter`s birth )--P.S receivedE-Mail with twisted jokes, but arrived as machine-code gibberish -- [%-)]--on the plus side, computer has been laughing all week.......BK-TOM has worked wonders with pix of A.P.T,have found useable shot of T.G.V Atlantique, will post next week-should be able to find pix of D.R locos you listed-will see if I can find some comparable stats for Brit locos, maybe some of the boys can do the same for some American equivalents-might make an interesting comparison.........PETE-how do mate-try another one of them beers? --you are of course thinking of Bulleid`s "Leader",quite overlooked in MANAGER TED`s all time ugly contest-a classic example of function over form-and acheived neither..........still.you never know `til you try...........Right-I`ve got a real pub-quiz special question for you all, mention of sauerkraut has brought it to mind-it looks much the same but is shredded horseradish packed in salt--a Slovenian di***hat I have been trying, without sucess,to track down since we visited, some years ago- any info will get you a night at Our Place at my expense. Rather impressed by Boris`s acid green spandex lederhosen-still,he does have the figure to carry it off........................Well guys, I`ve got a bit of a rats patoot thing happening here, and in clear defiance of my own rule concerning emotional baggage,I`m just gonna run a few edited highlights past you--arrived late, bar full of ugly drunks, ongoing argument between lead singer and rest of band simmering nicely--By point of departute, bar floor covered in broken glass, two in custody on violent assault charges ( according to the officers who escorted us out of town ) a dozen or so officers separating the various factions-oh yes-lead singer now wearing lump on head same shape as my fist-I really, really hate it when that happens, quiet walk home for me I think, sorry for taking up your time with that.-enjoy sunday pix, speak soon,nick[C=:-)]

Good evening Tom awk and any other's who survibed helga and hilda's ministrations[:O][XX(] In answer to your question Tom no they will not be in Toronto. we only let them out of Kitchener for oktoberfest only. They bend wheel chairs from steel bars the rest of the year. [:O] A usefull implimentation of their talents I beleave. Oh they said that Boris may have the talent for an openning in their company as well. Apparently the girls loved his lederhosen! Nick sorry to hear about your dust up. Perhaps the girls could acompany you as security[?] pete thanks for the kudos. Most radials and interurbans and street railways used some form of snow removal equipment to keep their cars and locomotives running. The vehicle of choice for most was the snowsweeper. bamboo bristles spinning at incalculable speeds tended to make light work of minor drifting. Sweepers also mounted small side plow blads to help keep the snow pushed back from the tracks as well .Wedge plows were used for heavier going. Some street railways with private "rural ROW 's " employed rotory plows. Most of the street railways were contracted by the cities they served to help clear the roads ( before widespread sand, salt and truck plows ) Tom Nice heralds page, also that language joke seemed familiar somehow [tup][swg] Anyhow seeing as it'sd early Sunday i shall again lead off the parade with the pictures to follow up my blurb on the MS&C. Pictures are old so please forgive their inadequacies. As always click on to enlarge for a better view of the action.descriptions will follow the pictures for clarity. So photo descriptions as follows #1 is car302 an MS&C snowsweeper, #2 is two MS&C work cars 500 and 502 an express motor and the flat construction motor. #3express motor 504 #4and #5 are cars 102 and 103 two of the original all passenger cars built in 1909-11. these are similar in size and construction to our museums #107 with the difference that our 107 is a passenger/combine. Sister car 104 is at the CRHA museum in Delson Quebec express motor 504 is preserved at the trolley museum in Kennebunkport Maine. Have a good evening everyone. Rob Oh PS BK loved the German stem post nice and on theame and topic. Have a wonderfull trip hopefully some pictures will accompany you on your return. [swg]

Sorry I come unprepared for posting photos. Best I can offer is some views located on Rob's "railimages" account on page 6. You can access them by going to trolleyboys Profile (click on "trollyboy" this page) go to the "railimages" URL and press page 6 for some early efforts. I'm negotiating for more pix available next week. Promise to be more involved a.s.a.p. Superb craftsmanship Troy, I see overhead "feed" was not an option. Ditto here in FL.; the high winds make "short work" of catenary and poles. Rob, great pix and I hope my reference to your account is appropriate. Folks will be able to enjoy the fine views over-all, thanks.

Many thanks Nick. The "Sir Theodore" is a "keeper" for sure. Anyone questioning my maternal lineage to Ireland can now put all doubts to rest. The "warts and all" approach is best in my opinion. Makes one appreciate the constant "in flux" development of any Pike. Nice weathering on wheels and sideframes, keep up the good work, more on moday. Happy rails.

Good afternoon Tom and everyone [:)]. I know we're closed, so I'll drop this gently through the mail slot.

Sorry I missed out on Octberfest here. Looks like a good time was had by all.

Here's a couple of pix for Sunday Photo Day .

BSR F9PH nbr 98 Branson Scenic Railway, Branson, MO. I took this a little over a year ago, when my wife and I were in Branson. We were there on a Sunday, which they don't operate on Sundays. It was built by EMD in 1951 for the B&O, then became MARC #83.

Info can be found about the Branson Scenic Railway at http://www.bransontrain.com/

Milwaukee Road E2 at St. Louis Transportation Museum.

That's it for now.

G'day Guys!

Just a couple of comments to those who Posted from late last night on .......

Nick Sounds like you've had quite the night! [swg] Stay cool 'n lay low today, m'boy - things will pick up in the 'morrow. Guaranteed! [tup] Given that you are staff you've got keys to the joint and access to the Rat's Patoot Room! From the description you provided, even my aging old self would've liked to have jumped in the fray. Been awhile, for sure. [swg]

All of your pix have been Posted and they really came thru just fine. Thanx! [tup]

Rob Once again in your quest to be the first to Post for Sunday Photo Posting Day! you've excelled m'lad - really fine stuff. Thanx!

So sorry to learn that the "bookends" from Germany will not be in Toronto for our Rendezv ous in May. Just as well, Lord only knows what kinda havoc would ensue with them at the evening "socials"!! [swg] Where did you find 'em [?] Some connection to your trolleys, I presume.

Troy I don't blow smoke - but I must say you really have some fantastic models. Congratulations on the attention to detail and the talent to put into model form that which must surely closely resemble the "real deal." I'd offer that when one looks up the definition of "scratch builder" the name troybetts can be found! [tup][tup][tup] Sure separates the "men from the boys" when one sees something like those pix. [yeah]

Appreciate your participation! [tup]

Thanx to Russell for the pix and to Ted for being evermore supportive!

Enjoy this fine day and see ya'll tomorrow!

Hello Gentlemen and a special good day to you Tom,

A very nice feature for Sunday.

Thank you Mr. Nick for the photo's. Nicely done and do you have a record of where and when they were photographed?

I should explain that my interests do not necessarily center on railroads. However, I do appreciate riding them and looking at the photographs. My activities preculde my being able to hobby them and although I am capable with a camera, I regret that my inventory does not include anything of worth for viewing by this esteemed gathering.

I am continually surprised by some of the people who visit your bar and seemingly have no manners. All of these fine efforts and there is always one who will not mention the works of others. Why then recognize his? Sorry, but that is another shortcoming of mine - no tolereance for ignorance.

Let me end this on a positive note - your picture posting Sunday has brightened my day and for that I thank all of you. Thumbs up - as your graphics would depict - to all.

My European trip may be rescheduled, I'm awaiting word from Norway this very night.

Good day to all.

Evenin' Gents!

My guess is that we've seen the end of our Sunday Photo Posting Day! and an interesting selection it was. Many THANX to all who participated.

I'm planning to sign off for the remainder of the night, but first a couple of replies:

Nick I found a URL that amplifies the "Advanced Passenger Train (APT)" in the pix you provided for BK. Check out: http://www.springhill.f9.co.uk/apt.htm

One of these days I'm going to have to make copies of all your descriptions and then edit the Nick's Pix photo album. [yeah] One day! [swg]

I wondered what that rattling 'round was downstairs in the bar 'n kitchen as I watched the Astros beat the Braves in 18 innings this afternoon. They now head to St. Louis for game #1 of the NL Championship series with the Cardinals on Wednesday. A repeat of last year ...

Now where was i [?] Oh, [yeah] - the noise. Figured it was you and your Assistant Chef [C=:-)] Ted making ready for tomorrow's Canadian Thanksgiving Dinner. So, someone's been hittin' the sauce, eh [?] <geesh> imagine that! And in a bar, no less! [swg]

Al Those are rather "busy" listings - suggest you try putting them out in columns, sure would make it easier to follow. Nevertheless, an interesting compilation. Not in keeping with our Sunday Photo Posting Day!, but as you indicated, a head start on Monday .....

BK Once again, thanx for your feedback. We try to exercise a degree of patience 'round here, but I must admit, there are days (daze)! [swg]

I seem to share some of your experiences regarding rail travel. When I did - way back when - there was no camera or notebook on my person. Just didn't think about doing those things then. When we began our new life together back in 1990, my wife and I traveled quite a bit in Canada - and still do. The camera is ever present mainly because I just cannot get enough of those wonderful Budd stainless steel cars. I also have a great affection for the people we've met aboard those VIA Rail trains - crews included. Of course there have been the occasional "turn offs," however, they are far 'n few between. Long distance rail travel is the way to go - too bad it's rapidly diminishing throughout the continent..

Keep in contact, trip or no trip. And, "chill" my man, "chill!" I assure you, those who play the hand of the ignorant are in the minority 'round here. Don't let 'em bother you.

See y'all tomorrow!

[:I] I apologize for the mistake for thinking "Sir Theodore" was running in Ireland while all the time chuffing in Wales Nick. My maternal Grand Mother was from Wales, so shall we "split hairs?" As from my experiences in Ireland, the sooner forgotten the better![:(] BTW, all moving body parts here are still totally functional. Try THAT on for size when you reach 67 years and taking your "annual physical." Bk I too am not particularly inrerested in "no manners!" Hope you find Scandinavia warmer than "Our" Place. Bon voyage.[:D]

Tom, the fallen logos are incredible and just the just sight of them brings back memories "older than dirt." Let us not forget the great "wild turkey day" coming up, tomorrow. The "Canadian Brass" will be with us and IF there are any "out there" who understand their virtuosity; join the "track gang" and me for an evening comparable only to the "last man standing saurkruat [flatulence] marathon."[:D] Ta, for now![tup] See you's when it gets a bit cooler in "Paradise." Oh yes Tom, that "final" score was 44 to what? Oh well, Happy rails to all.

Manager, Assistant Chief Chief [C=:-)], part-time Desperado Ted

Congrats on lining up the Canadian Brass! - now that's a coup fer sure, fer sure, eh [?] [swg] Carol and I have a few albums - fine stuff indeed. [tup]

What am I missing with the "44 to what?" [%-)][%-)][%-)] I know the St. Louis LAMBS lost today (I cannot get into that team - they still are the LA Rams to me ...), our Blues have started the season with three losses - but hey - this IS baseball town. Cardinals rule the roost 'round these parts! [swg]

Perhaps BK is "on" to something - I've really considered not recognizing those who don't recognize us. Turnabout, after all, is fair play. I just may begin a new approach to it all .... I'll think about it a bit.

Thanx for the endorsement regarding the Fallen Flags series! Stayed tuned, for I've got something special concocted for the 'morrow! [yeah]

Okay - this time I'm outta here ....... [zzz] Well, at least when the Yankees and Angels game ends! [swg]
