OK, three days on the railroad done (the fall colors in the central Adirondacks are fabulous!), now two days of trying to get more people to ride the railroad.

Moose River from the McKeever Trestle.

CSX is doing some ROW work here on the A&WP sub.  For the first time in at least 20 years trees adjacent to tracks are being removed.  The pine trees are starting to lean over the tracks inviting a major track fouling  if any storm happens especially winter ice storms or heavy snows..

Even this Saturday daytime trains are passing at restricted speeds.

Larry, back in 1965, '67 & '68 I got to spend a couple of months each not far from your neck of the woods (Ilion, NY), and got a chance to explore some of the beautiful country up there, though never in fall.   Beautiful picture.   We don't have much of an autumn down here.

From the looks of that track, the train didn't have to jump very far!

Scary part is the photo wasn't scrunched-up by a telephoto lens. PennCentral revisited.

Coming to a TV near you, a new UP television advertising campaign.  Begins Sept 29.  Look for them on all the ones you would expect, those that have political or financial programming, plus TBS, ESPN, HGTV, the Food Network and the History Channel.  (Even if there isn't much history on the History Channel anymore.)

Day two of the Massena train show (Norwood Model Railroad Club) is in the books.  Like Saturday, beautiful, sunny weather, with temperatures in the mid-70's limited attendance, but I still talked to a lot of attendees.

The show was right across the river from the Massena yard, so we were occasionally treated to some "real" train sounds, in addition to all the models at the show.

Lots to do this week right here at home, before heading back to the railroad next weekend!

Just had a nasty hailstorm in Denver. Time for new screens and shingles at the house.

There won't be any fall colors here after today's shreddamatic episode.

Company car got attacked by the gnomes with little ball-pein hammers.

The Fordasorous known as Lurch?

Lurch most likely is in Mexico by now if even in one piece anymore. Stuck with a Fordosaurus Exploder earlier this year until the company vehicle purchases catch up with expansion. Now has 120K+ plus a new tranny, radiator & wiring harness (plus repairs from being rear ended). I would expect I will have the truck past 250K or when repairs start driving the beancounters nuts. The company started specifying 3/4 Ton Chevys with an odd Tundra or two for lighter duty work after some of the other Fordasaurus' reverted to their natural state with heavy use. (Hope springs eternal that performance & reliability will outlast cheap at the mothership.)

Not until you can shine roadapples. Most likely it will be run to self destruction  in short order. For now, it shall remain a white roadapple with dimples.

I was on the ladder when Ma Nature said it was time to leave. (there will be a 24 Hr delay on progress)

Nigel got bandages removed today, healing nicely. The donut comes off Thursday.

I made the run from Elburn to Chicago in 24 seconds flat today, and have the video on Facebook to prove it!

The G-forces were daunting, but nothing compared to the people who were launched onto the train by the wheelchair lift!  Halfway through the run I saw NS's NS heritage unit (8104?  Red and black), and at Proviso I saw the D&RGW heritage unit and a new GE test unit (2024? Blue all over).  That radiator profile looks like it could scrape a tunnel or two!

For those of you out on or interested in the Great Plains: My wife saw this documentary on PBS over the weekend (I haven't yet), and recommends it highly:

Great Plains: America's Lingering Wild

She said the camera work on the wildlife was really impressive, as was the explanation of the Ogallala Aquifer.

I finished painting my house last Saturday.  It only took 8-1/2 weeks.  If I were given a choice between painting or doing hard time,  I'd choose breaking rocks at Sing-Sing.  I hate painting, but the going price to paint a house like mine is around $4200, so I paid myself quite well to do it.

Painting is easy.  The prep work sucks.

Hey Carl!

Since I don't recall getting a "commemorative" car during my visit to your neck of the woods last year, I picked up an Evans 57' Plug Door car, CNW 600538, for my layout.  Now I just have to figure out whether it's going to haul something in or out.

Sounds like we're going to have a wet weekend here.  Not good for the leaves.  I think they'll peak in Thendara this week, and the rain just drags them off the trees.  And onto the rails.  Hope the sanders are working well on the locomotive!
