Good afternoon and thank you Chuck, the snow cannon is hammering Dayton.  It has been snowing for quite some time and I am loving it.  I have been outside once to shovel the sidewalk and driveway, and also play.  The 4-year-old boy loves it as much as me.  Fortunately, we don't have any plans so we'll be enjoying hot cocoa and inside/outside fun all day.

Happy Belated Birthday Buckeye!  I never know if it's truly your birthday or not.

Mike C. - I watched part of the SNL special as well.  I enjoyed what I saw.  I especially enjoyed Sienfeld's Q&A session with the audience.  I was also quite surprised how well Miley Cyrus sung that Paul Simon classic.

Cooling off here. Maybe some icy stuff starting late tomorrow and into Monday.

Watching Patton on TCM. NASCAR tomorrow.

Fighting a bad cold.

Good evening all,

A good day.  Watched 2 soccer matches.   Man City pounded Newcastle 5-0 today that was not even that close.   Went to see "The Kingsmen".  Good flick.  Finally figured where to put stairs in new room addition.  Looks like all the issues are resolved in that regard, which is a relief.   Lots of snow, but we got it cleared off the sidewalks ok.   Supposed to be cold all week.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Mornin' boys.  Cloudy & a balmy 40 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Rather tropical after the snowstorm.  Me and the fifelings were outside clearing the driveway, so that they could get to work.  Now it's just Wifey & Fifey...

Good afternoon all,

It's been a nice Sunday here.  The boys and I went to church this morning and then Buffalo Wild Wings for lunch.  The girls are under-the-weather so they stayed in bed.  It warmed up to about 30 today which made the roads and parking lots quite slushy.  It is supposed to drop back down overnight and we're looking at below zero temperatures for tomorrow with some nasty windchill.  I cannot wait for my morning run tomorrow.

Frank 53 - I'm glad you were able to finally make it back.

A Toyota Corolla for the pace car of the Great American Race!  REALLY!?  I class those vehicles as transportation appliances.  Other than that, it was a pretty good race.  Lap speeds are starting to break 200mph again.  This will probably produce some tinkering with the rules for next year's race.

Spanky - I got my benchtop bandsaw for the same reason.  We even held some 'design & build' clinics for the entire pack at our house.

My General #3 got here yesterday.  Very clean, and looks to have little use.  One of the valve stems is missing, but replacements are available and inexpensive.  It runs, the e-unit works and the smoker smokes.  It is a 2 position e-unit, so I am looking into what it will take to install a 3 position e-unit.  Should be a bolt in, as the 1872 General had a 3 position e-unit.

Father in law had surgery on his neck, fusing a couple of bones.  So far so good, but recovery will be long.  My mom went into the hospital yesterday on what appears to be a not too serious item.  We are in wait and see mode on both.

About all for now.

I agree with you. Whatever software they are using for this forum is horrible and I have even tried to do a spell check go-around with no success. You post a reply and you wonder what you are going to get. We have both have been on the forum for over ten years and I have never seen such poor quality. As to the small print, isn't the average age on this forum over 50? One would think CTT would cater to that age group.

Probably not.  You will see the mess.  Hope you are doing good.  Got new layout done?

Now, it is free [well, with a subscription.  Magazine worth it] so I guess we shouldn't gripe.  Not CTT's fault.  Publishing Co.  Shame.  A couple of others are a lot better software.

Frank. I can't say you are wrong. You started this post you can end it. JMHO.

I will still try to be part of the "Train" threads.  But CTT don't seem to care if there is no money there, Why I quit their mag. (boy I miss spell check)Same old stuff anyway. Most of the people working for them can't understand old guys like us.

Be good and try to deal with what you get..

Good evening all,

Still cold here.  Did an 8 mile walk (all walking) in 2:09.  Not great but not bad for February.  Saw who won the taxicab race in Daytona.  I did not do much else today.  Wife is staying with daughter all this week so I will have trains all over the house by the time she gets back.  Did get to watch an English Premiere League match.  I may have mentioned before but we have a floor plan for the new addition that gets a new staircase in the room and allows for all 3 train layouts to be in the new area as well.  I am pretty sure it will work.  Wife likes it as well, and I think it will be ok structurally as well.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Monday Monday boys.  Great song, but that's about all that's good about Monday.  Cloudy 33 with flurries in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Schools are 2 hours late.  It seems our children can't possibly walk on sidewalks that aren't clean down to the Portland.  Funny, nearly every kid I see goes out of his/her way to trample in the nearby snow....

Oldest Princess "won" me a small Lionel collection last night, consisting of the Naughty & Nice ore cars I've been coveting.  You go guuuurrrlllll....

Aloha. Coldy-cold-cold. But the sun is out. I had fun running Ivor around the layout as if it was winter and he had to clear snow, pick up stranded sheep, drag around more coal trucks than usual. I wish the race ended without a caution too. Happy for Anyone-but-Jimmy as the winner.

Morning.  Rainy and cooler but above freezing.  They keep trying to add a little frozen stuff off and on all week.  Nice thing is, not suppose to amount to anything .

Off to meet a realtor at lake house.  Got to sell that thing.  No need spending money on that thing when you don't use it.

Have a great week.

I actually think the cars in the xfinity (former Nationwide-Busch-Grand National) series are far better looking than their Cup counterparts.  Better paint jobs, manufacturer identifiable, just more visually interesting.

And I do think the current Chase format was set to stack against the 48 team.

Mornin' Fellas

Busy weekend, then Saturday we got hit with 8+ inches of snow... seems Chuck and Buckeye got the cannon's supply lines fixed, wonder if they can start working on the targetting system now? PLEASE! Smile

My thoughts on the forum... I don't want to see it go away, you have all become quite a good group of friends! Had a surprise call from RT yesterday - nice to hear his voice again. Can't wait till York... speaking of which I better get my membership renewed and badge ordered... had plenty of time to get that done this past weekend and... I forgot. Sad I can't imagine visiting the forum from a tablet or phone. The font size is way too large, the site doesn't fill to the device's width, and the adds take up too much space. And the edit box is far too small... other than that it's great! Big Smile

I really don't want it to go away either just get frustrated that spell checks doesn't work here anymore so I have to cut and paste my post to another site and then cut and post the corrected post back here.

Didn't really know if that number would work when I called Brent as I've had it for a while about 7 years I think and with a lot getting rid of home phones wasn't sure he still had that number. It was great talking to him and he did help me out a lot on my question,

Not to much happening right now. Hope all having/had a good weekend raining here but about 50 degrees here so it's fair but that's about it. suppose to start get colder the rest of the week thou.

Talk to you all later.

Hello there!!

I just posted to see if my new desktop is working, lol!!

Weather be frightfully cccold here...we are sitting at the round goose egg F. but sunny. The R-40 insulation we put in last summer is doing its job which is a good thing.

Now, next project is finding/rebuilding an Oriel window for the backstaircase so it does not sound like a ghost resides there.... Whistling

Hello,

It was wonderfully cold today; it was 5 degrees when I went for my morning run.  With the wind chill it was anywhere from -7 to -20 degrees.  It's always tough to go back to work after a week off, but at least I didn't have too many tasks waiting on me. Last night, I glued down some grass mats.  I need to go check on them.

BOC - Welcome back!  It's great to see you again.

I hope you all had a great day.

Mostly sunny and cold here.  Started at 6 and got all the way up to 20.

Took my wife into the shop today for another treatment on her back.  So far so good.  These injections seem to be helping.

All for now.

Good evening all,

We have had some good rain, hard at times last night and today.  Warnings were out for mudslides in the burned areas but so far I haven't heard of any.  The hills had begun to turn green a little and now, with this rain should grow some more watershed up there.  Neighbor across the street went up to the mountains today and filled the back of his pick up with snow and brought it home.  He made a snowman on his porch for fun.  That's as close as I want to get to the white stuff.

Watched some of the oscars last night against my better judgement.  Hardly knew anyone on the program except an appearance by Julie Andrews and Lady Gaga who sang a tribute to her with songs from "The Sound of Music"  I thought she did a great job except at the finish when she stretched out her arms revealing giant tatoos on both of them, sort of spoiled the illusion.

Don't know the MC but I am out of the loop on some of these younger stars. He did some bit appearing in his undershorts and shoes only in front of the crowd.  I think he was trying to make fun of a scene in one of the movies but I haven't seen it.  If his object was to look like a jack---, then he suceeded.

D. Baker, did Chris work the show again this year?

later,

Ray

Good evening all,

Just grateful we have a FREE forum to share our thoughts and friendships with.   MC was on Doogie Howser, MD and How I Met Your Mother.   Cold in Indiana.  Quiet day at work.  Quiet night at home.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Aloha. I'm with MikeC. Joe, I hope you aren't running outside when it is as cold and windy as it is today. Although there is some cool gear to stay warm. If anything today is colder than yesterday. Got home late last eve. because of some issues with the train but was happy the car started right up after 12 hours of below-zero. I researched how to build a covered 'wagon' for Ivor's layout. Maybe using tissue and blocks. Set to watch Top Gear tonight with my boys.

CHUCK, enough of this.  Going up there and knock on your nogging. Meetings and Annual Chamber Dinner postponed.  Wifey cooking beef and veggie soup.  Will stay warm.  Did all more running around earlier his AM.  Bird feeder and suet feeder filled.

This stupid software.  Everytime I hit delete to move the main body of post up, it moves farther down one.  I can program better than this.

Good Evening,

The Siberian Express continues to have its way with us as well. Got to 2F now back down to -4F with a windchill of.... -20F...and, to top this all off, I just got out of the office right into a bunch of white STUFF which made driving a PITA SoapBox Bang Head

What would have been a 15 minute drive turned into a 75 minute drive...

Tonight not going out ...buying survival basics tomorrow and sheltering out of the bitter cccold winds and such...try to keep warm guys!!!
