Mudchicken, keep us posted; maybe we can figure out something, to meet again.

Got more beef noodles and tuna melt casserole ready for supper.

Joe, got two plates ready for you, in the cooler, with your name on them, as usual.  Take whichever one you want for tonight, or go ahead and take both of them with you.

Anybody hear from Nightrain today?  Sure do hope she's doing all right.  Don't imagine it's much fun, having a bad cold, when you're pregnant.  Heck, it's no fun anytime!!

Well, I certainly managed to get in more than my usual amount of walking today.

It snowed pretty good last night - at least up on the mountains to the east.  They say that the road up to the Mount Hamilton Observatory will be closed until next Tuesday.  Nice to finally see some snow around here this winter.  Captain [4:-)]

Good Thursday morning to all.  Hmmm, looks like we had a very slow night in here last night.  I'm glad someone put the food away, and cleaned up, though.  Thank you, to whomever did that!

Coffee, juice, hot tea and hot chocolate are ready and waitin'.  And on the warmer bar, you will find bacon, eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, hash browns and tater tots, oatmeal and toast, bagels and bear claws and apple cinnamon muffins.

Everyone have a terrific day, and take care while outside.  Right now, we're getting a light slower, but could be in for some storms, tornado watches, etc. later on today/afternoon/evening.  Looks like March is definitely coming in like a lion!!

Currently, it is snowing at 2 inches an hour and there is thunder and lightning. Visibility is almost is zero with winds gusting over 30 mph.

All of the major school districts have cancelled school which is really too bad because I had today off anyway. I'm really being cheated out of a snowday, but I guess I won't complain too much.

Good morning folks. It kind of looks like we are under a severe weather/blizzard advisory for today and tomorrow. The winds are supposed to be blowing at about 40 mph by about the middle of this afternoon here. All the schools in this area are closed. I will brave the elements and head for my part time job at Wendy's later this morning, unless my supervisors should call me and tell me to stay home, which I would not mind doing, but I would rather be working. I just now looked out my front door and the conditions are not all that bad yet, so I should be able to make it to work.

Everyone stay warm & stay safe.

Blizzard warning was just issued for Omaha. 8 to 10 inches on the ground already, with storm totals expected to reach over a foot in some spots. What an incredible storm system!

*walks casually in*

I am doing alright now, I slept most of the cold away yesterday, and the day before. Now it’s just leftover phlegm, and junk waiting to exit. (sorry to ruin anyone’s appetite) So yeah I am doing much better, more coherent, and more …here…LOL

I think I will have me some orange juice, and some hash browns. No eggs…Call me strange but I never liked eggs.

Pregnancy and colds do not mix. All I could take was Robitussin, and that stuff doesn’t get the job done as well as I remember Nyquil to do. It’s more on the watery side too, so it doesn’t stay around long enough *curses out the druggies that use the stuff to cook methamphetamine*
The vitamin C and zinc didn't help at all either. The C make me very nauseous, do I avoided that at all costs. The Zinc helped a little though.

So yeah, I am still alive and well.

You guys get all the snow this weekend, all we get is rain….whoop de doo.. LOL

We're under a winter weather warning tonight - snow followed by rain.  Might get a three day weekend out of this yet....  And it's so nice out right now.

Hi
I will just grab a bite from the warmer bar. We had a big thunderstorm overnight. (Rain is easier to shovel) If wind will die down, I'll clean off the branches and twigs from the roof. My Chinese Elm tree is wonderful shade, but sheds like an old cat. No offence.

Well, looks like the weather in Nebraska has kept Mookie home today.  We'll all just have to carry on as best we can today, without her here.Sad [:(]

Since we seem to be so slow, I've only made sandwiches and fries for lunch.  The sandwiches are:  PB&J, bologna & cheese, ham & cheese, roast beef sandwiches, and tuna salad sandwiches.

Looks like quite a few areas will have to batten down the hatches this afternoon/tonight.  Even us in KY.  At least so far, about the entire western half of the state, and Louisville is on the perimeter.  So we'll have to be watching carefully, also.

Everyone stay safe!!

We had some thunderstorms roll through here about mid-morning this morning, dropping a mixture of rain and mini-hail.  We're supposed to get more of the same this afternoon, followed by snow tonight.  I checked my weather station over lunch, and it's registering the lowest barometer reading I've seen in a LONG time- 29.07".

The low pressure center has a pressure of 980 mb. That's characteristic of a category 1 hurricane.

Most totals in Omaha are 8 to 14 inches. Here at home, it looks like 9 or 10 inches. It's very difficult to tell with all of the blowing and drifting going on (Omaha/Eppley had a wind gust of 58 mph), but I think I found a relatively sheltered area. Eppley only reported 6 inches, which figures since they are the offical reporting station, thus what they measure is the official storm total. It's too bad when you consider that almost all other measurements have been at least 2 inches greater than that.

This was a very nice surprise and now I'm finally ready for spring.

Willy, What's the "Outlook" for the Ohio Valley area like, including Louisville? (Ky)

WE just had a "Bolt" of Lightning, and "Clap" of Thunder that "Shook" the House!!!

You are going to keep getting rain and storms this afternoon and evening, but your severe threat doesn't look huge. All of that rain and cloudcover you're experiencing now has probably cut back instability and will probably limit the severe threat. However, the Storm Prediction Center has you on the border between a moderate and slight risk for severe storms, so keep an eye to the sky and a radio or TV handy just in case.

I got home from work within the last hour, and the weather conditions here are not very good. At 2:00 this afternoon we decided to close the store at Wendy's and head for home. I took an order of two cheese burgers, a medium coke and a medium vanilla Frosty home with me, and I just had a late lunch. Burp!! We have a temperature of 24 degrees and the wind is blowing out of the Northeast at gusts of up to 39 mph. I had a few drifts of snow almost knee-deep to have to wade through on the way home from work. It feels good to be home, in my warm, cozy little house.

Me thinks it would be nice if we could purchase, borrow or steal a couple Frosty machines from Wendy's and install them in the Diner. Then we could have both chocolate & vanilla Frostys for dessert after our meals. I'll have to work on that!Chef [C=:-)]

Gee, Joe, that sounds like a nice idea!  So, for our supper menu tonight, we will have:

burgers, hot dogs and fries.

Joe, and everyone else:  I did talk with the cat this afternoon.  Driver was out working the snow blower for the second time today.  Mookie wasn't sure exactly how much snow they had, but she couldn't see out the window, for the amount of snow in front of it.  She said the University was closed first today, then they closed the public schools. Did say she'll see us all in the morning.

I'm home now, and the snow has started to fall here.  The weather station now has a new low barometric reading, 28.91".  What's the conversion formula for inches to millibars or vice-versa, Willy?  I suspect that I've hit bottom here, as the wind has died down to nothing.  We just talked to my parents up just south of Minneapolis- they have 10 inches of snow on the ground and are expecting 10 more before it quits.

Pressure in millibars = 33.8639 X Pressure in inches of mercury. I tried it with our pressure in Omaha and my answer was one millibar off, so not too bad.

Pressure in inches of mercury = 0.0295300 X Pressure in millibars. For this one, it was right on the nose.

(33.8639)(28.91) = 979.00 mb. The low center must be almost directly over you because that is pretty darn low.

(0.0295300)(979.00) = 28.91" - There you are back at inches of mercury.

Willy, Thanks for the info., that seems to be pretty much what our forecasters are saying.

Our TV is on most of the day so we can hear things like that, but as of Several Years ago,

an NWS Weather Alert Radio is on  24/7/365 (6) in this household!!

Sign - Ditto [#ditto]Sign - Ditto [#ditto]

Those shots are GORGEOUS.

What a difference a couple of hours make, the barometer is rising like a rocket in boost phase and the wind is now howling out of the west.  I recorded a gust of 26.2 MPH about 20 minutes ago, which is the highest I've captured so far on my anemometer.  In this neighborhood full of mature trees and two-story houses, that's TRUCKING.  At least the snow quit for the time being...

We got a light dusting of snow, but that's quit for the moment.  The bad news is that the wind is out of the east - never a good thing - and there is wintry mix and rain headed this way.  With a current temp of 22 degrees, rain is definitely a bad thing.  Have to sit back and hope I can get out of the driveway in the morning.

Hope we don't end up with a mess - two ice storms is enough.
