Good evening.

Yesterday evening I went to see Gordon Lightfoot with my parents. His voice certainly is not as strong as it used to be. However, considering that just a few years ago he was close to death, I think he's doing pretty good. The concert was sold out and it was excellent. I would have to say that my favorite Gordon Lightfoot songs are "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" and "If you Could Read my Mind". Just teriffic music.

Not much else happening. Hope everyone has a good evening!

Willy, you and your folks are extremely fortunate to have been able to see Gordon Lightfoot and his band perform in Omaha. I am envious of you! I have been listening to Gordon's music since I was in high school (I graduated in 1974), and I can tell you right now that there are very few musicians who can even hold a candle to this gentleman's talent. I have acquired most of Lightfoot's albums down through the years, and I may have all of them except for maybe a couple of his very earliest. In 1979 I went to Calgary, Alberta, Canada for a convention with the National Model Railroad Association, and I was motivated in part to make that trip by the music of Gordon Lightfoot. If it were not for Gordon Lightfoot, I may never have gone up into Canada and I may never have developed such a strong interest in the Canadian Pacific Railway.

To the best of my knowledge, Lightfoot has never performed up here in Sioux Falls, and so I am trying to get the Washington Pavilion here in downtown Sioux Falls to bring him into town for a couple concerts. How long Gordon Lightfoot will be able to continue performing, God only knows. Lightfoot will be 69 years old on the 17th of November, and I have a Canadian flag which I plan to fly on his birthday!

Good Friday morning, everyone.  RANDY STAHL!!!  So nice that you came by yesterday!!  You should drop in a see us more often.  You can email your colonoscopy stories, and I'll definitely read them!!

Larry, believe it or not, I'm not really having any trouble sitting down.  I remember nothing:  they gave me some great pain medication before.  If I remember correctly, one was Darvon, and I'd never heard of the other pain med, so I can't remember that name.

On the breakfast bar this morning:  doughnuts (all shapes, sizes, creamed filled, vanilla filled, etc., muffins (strawberry, blueberry, apple-raisin), and bear claws.

Everyone have a good Friday, and if you're getting rain showers, be careful out there!!

I think you got a nice cocktail of drugs , I usually get demerol and versed, trouble is I do remember it AND usually giving the doctor performing the procedure advice while he's doing it . They like to keep you at the hospital until the drugs wear off a bit but for a while the deputy from the emergency room would handcuff me to the bed because I went to get a soda one time... I walked home ..I didn't remember that I brought my car ..

Good Saturday morning, to one and all.  Joe, thanks for starting the coffee, and making the juice, and lemonade.  Also, thank you for the fresh cinnamon rolls!  They're really nice to have on a Saturday morning.  We have plenty, because that's what I brought in this morning, also.

Hope everyone has a great day, and I'll see you all back in here tonight, for our SATURDAY NIGHT PIZZA FEST.

.....Just make sure the fish is not from China....!

Jean and I purchased some fish at our big box store, Meijer's yesterday and later noted on the package it's from China.  This morning it went back to the store for a refund...No questions ask.

Hmmm.  Haven't had perch in ages.  Some fries on the side and we're set!

Starting the "summer season" tomorrow - first train at 10, on duty at nine, have to be out of the house by seven, and I want to get there early besides.  Better get to bed soon.

With the Fourth coming up (Sunday is Canada Day, for our friends to the north!), I want to get some flags and bunting on the RS-3.  Should look sharp!

As much as we'd like a nice weekend (and next week, too - I'm on vacation), we do need some rain.  Maybe some nice overnight showers, with blue skies to wake up to...

A Google search said that in 1984 the Denver Bears became the Denver Zephyrs. I couldn't find an official Denver Zephyrs website, however.

In other news... the big talk in Omaha today is that we might have a Billion Dollar expressway built that will circle the city and ease congestion on the Interstates through Omaha. Of course, this means that taxpayers will need to dig a bit deeper into their pockets.

Another nice day today. Highs in the lower 80s, light winds, and low humidity. Of course it still won't rain, but the cooler conditions should keep the crops healthy for a bit longer.

Hope everyone has a good afternoon!

.....A bit cooler here this morning...Instrument indicated 68 at about 7:30.

Now, we're to have 4 days of lower temps and lower humidity and lots of sunshine.  But, it's cloudy right now this morning so they will have to go.

Finally, it should be dry enough today that I can get the {fast growing}, lawn mowed and continue to trim shrubs these next few days.

A bit over 4.25" of rain now in the past week has really worked on the brown grass too.  Plus it was just fertlized recently.

We had quite a dry spell here.  Corn is taking off now too...pretty and green and getting high as it should have been several weeks ago.

Construction is buzzing all over our fair city.....More of it now than we've seen in the 45 years we've been out here.

Wishing a good day for all.....
