Texas Hots are a large hot dog with special red "Texas" hot sauce. Below is a description from the Buffalo, NY area:

"The Texas Hot style hot dog is another regional delicacy, teaming a Sahlens or Wardynski hot dog with mustard, slivered white onion and Texas Style meat sauce on a steamed hot dog roll."

Hope that gives you the idea. "Sahlens" and "Wardynski" are local sausage makers in the Buffalo area. Texas Hots were always a great lunch when pulling pins on a cold night on the hump at Frontier Yard. The canteen there made great ones...

Willy,

Its 97 outside right now...might get down to the low 80 by midnight...we have some of LC's humidity too...

LC...Now that sounds like a good idea....maybe even slice up some avocadoes...do a watermelon or two for dessert...throw in some sweet tea and pecan pie...

(by the way, cholesterol is just another word for flavor)

I say we hook a fire hose up to a tank car of Gatorade for the MC, just in case.

Mookie...I don't think they would miss him for a little while!Wink [;)]

Make mine a shredded beef quesadilla with 2 soft tacos, 2 cheese enchilladas, rice and beans please...

Nothing like good Mexican Food to sweat off a few pounds...

We'd better not give it to MC though, he may just blow away. Perhaps if we keep his gatoraide IV all the way open he'll stay on Terra Firma...

Hot, Hot, Hot in the Northeast today. Getting my humidity knife out.

Could we have some good ol' Texas Hots and maybe some Coneys for lunch tomorrow. Fries would be nice too and maybe onion rings. I'll bring extra Lipitor...

Mookie, I happen to have some beef barbecue, and I'm fixing some for lunch, and will fix more for supper, to go along with our TUESDAY MEXICAN FIESTA.  As a matter of fact, we'll also be having some taco salads for lunch today.  I even have some sweet pickle slices for the barbecue sandwiches.  And if anyone doesn't like sweet pickles, we've got some kosher dill pickle spears, also.

For tonight's menu, we'll have more tacos, enchiladas, beef burritos enchilada style, Spanish rice, quasadillas, and anything else Mexican we can find to fix.

I am now putting everything out on the warmer bar, and the salads are in the cooler.

Tuesday Produce went fairly well.  They brought us potatoes, zuchini, leaf lettuce, cauliflower, and spinach. We had about 75 people come today.  That's been our biggest crowd since back in the winter.

Good Morning!

Mookie - Got the email.

It is refreshingly cool outside this morning. Highs in the lower 80s and lows in the upper 50s for the rest of the week. For July, this is pretty nice.

Everyone have a good day! TTFN.

In my job I feel like I'm detasseling adults!  Can be messy.  On a positive note the guy who freaked on me came in this morning before he went to work and apologized to me for his behavior.  That was decent of him.

I hear that CNW 8646 is somewhere in the state this morning.  If it's around this afternoon I'm goin' a chasin' that rascal!

See the smirk on my mug!  No bad noises today!  The LFD was called here last nite at 7:40pm (remember I have a scanner) for same problem.  They asked for history and were told an employee called in around 05:00 - I am yelling at the scanner - "No!  5:35!".....

Anyway - Houston Ed - I really would have liked to lean on that nice young man standing closest to me.  "Sonny, could you help me down the stairs to my office chair.  I am feeling a little feeble this morning!"....  :)

Dan - I read an article in our local rag about teenagers detasseling corn.  Not a job I would really want to tackle!  But I think for a first job, it teaches them a whole lot about hard work.

CW - warm up the seats, I am on my way.

Willy - check your e-mail.  (give me a little time this morning to get it to you.)

CW - BBQ beef/pork on a bun and a salad for supper?  It is cooler and tons more humid (79% and 72 degrees!) - icky!

Ugh.

Good Tuesday morning to one and all.  Looks like things were very slow in here last night.  Well, it is summertime and folks are busy when they get off work, aren't they?!?!

Dan, thanks for turning the lights on, and making the coffee.  I've got fresh oj, oj-tangerine, and grape juice all ready for this morning.  And to go along with the bear claws, I've got bagels set out on the counter, along with cantaloupe and watermelon chunks in the cooler.

Looks like we'll have another hot and muggy day here, with a 40% chance of afternoon thunder showers/storms; with a higher chance tomorrow.

Everyone have a good day.  Think I'll head out to the garden, and wait for Mookie to show up!  Hopefully, it's cool in the garden, this morning!

Really busy at work today - had to get a class underway, deal with some inspectors, work on acquiring some parts I need, and clean my desk for the brass that's coming through on Thursday.  Still have to work up a 5 minute spiel for that, too...

Ms Mook - Sounds like a smoke detector decided to go off - could have been any number of things, including accumulated dust.

Had a good day on the railroad yesterday, if long.  Not only did we do our usual trips, but at the end of the day we had to do some switching to add cars to the train for the Wednesday train robberies (very popular).  It's work enough (for an amateur like me) just shifting the cars around.  Lacing air hoses isn't bad, but those HEP cables are a real pain.....

Dan, yes on tonight's supper plans:  yep, we'll have Tuesday Night Mexican Fiesta

For tonight's supper, there are BLTs w/chips or fries, and we have plenty of nice, cool garden salads, along with homemade/churned ICE CREAM for dessert!  Anything to help us all cool off!!  Might even turn the sprinklers on in the garden, where we can feel the coolness on the patio!!  How does that sound, all right with everyone?!?!

Joe thanks for the advice.  I know that I'm 'low on the totem pole' again and am willing to take the time to climb back up.  I just haven't had a day this ridiculous in a long, long time.  Guess I got spoiled!

CW are we still planning on the Fiesta tomorrow?

I need to go find a train and relax...

Kitty looks a little lean and mean.

Dan - now I have a headache from watching you!

Brian - I think I sneezed about that time.  Getting to be a real habit to "spread the coal around"....

CW - I owe you a note, so will get on it after today.

Dumping coal on the ground next to or on the tracks must be getting contagious lately- CRANDIC did it yesterday with seven coal cars hitting the ground.

Since no one had any meal suggestions, here's today's lunch menu:

BLTs w/fries
Tuna salad sandwiches w/fries or tater chips
Grilled cheese sandwiches w/fries (grilled cheese sandwiches fixed on the George Formen grill)

Haven't decided on a supper menu, although I'm thinking I'll warm up the roast, taters and carrots from Sunday Dinner.

Here are a few pictures of the Heritage Units. It was really too dark to take good pictures, but here are the ones that still came out kinda sorta good. I should be able to get brighter/better pictures this upcoming weekend when they are in front of the Durham Western Heritage Museum.

And a little stray cat that was wandering around the parking lot I was in:

If the train had arrived a bit earlier there still would have been plenty of sunshine for picture taking, but some deep gray clouds decided to block the sun and make things dark. It was getting close to sunset anyway by the time they came in. Hopefully this weekend's pictures will be worthy of their own topic.

Thanks Mook.  I don't wanna yell, I just wanna cry.  In switching jobs from one to the current one I'm amazed, nay dumbfounded at just how stupid, childish, immature, petty and juvenile most adults I meet at work are!  The kids behaved so much better that I'm contemplating a switch back to it.  Now where is that wall again...Banged Head [banghead]...ahh, better.  Now to repeat!Banged Head [banghead] Banged Head [banghead]Banged Head [banghead]Banged Head [banghead]Banged Head [banghead]

Willy - two items - heard you were warned to go get photos, so will be expecting them and

......we got spit on!  How did we miss with all that green on the radar?  Sigh!  And I think it spit on us whilst I was sitting outside, too!  The indignity of it all.

Dan - drink some milk.  Always calms me down....besides you can't yell while you are drinking milk!  Smile [:)]

I'll be quiet as a mouse. However, I would like to announce that Omaha actually got some rain last night (the first measurable rainfall in over one month!). At my house I measured half an inch, but many areas across the city only saw about a quarter of an inch. Naturally, places like York and Grand Island, Nebraska got about two inches. The best always misses Omaha.

Also, I got to see the Katy, DRGW, and Southern Pacific Heritage Units yesterday evening. I'll see about posting some pics. The lighting coniditions were not ideal, but a couple pictures came out pretty good.
