Joe - heard on radio that someone is sueing a city because a toddler about 18 mos was burned going down a slide.  The sun had been shining on it and it was really hot.

Uh - where was the adult to check the slide first?  Probably busy calling her lawyer to see how much she could gouge out of the city.....

I've fixed some nice, cool cold cuts sandwiches for lunch today, along with some garden salads, which have some turkey, ham and shredded cheese in them.  Figured no one would want a whole lot of hot food, as 'warm' as it is outside.  The sandwiches and salads are on the breakfast bar, which has been loaded with crushed ice, to keep everything nice and cold.  Bags of various potato chips and pretzels are on the counter.

If anyone has any requests for supper tonight, please let me know!!  And does anyone know of someone who can do an actual RAINDANCE for us all, to get at least a little bit of relief?!?!  (With my knees, I don't think I could do a very good raindance right now!!) Wink [;)]

Good Wednesday morning, Mookie and everyone!  Nice warm morning here this morning.  We are in our 17th day of this heat wave, and may have a 20, 30% chance of a little bit of rain tomorrow or Friday, I think they're saying.  Supposed to be another record breaking high for today.

Coffee is ready, as well as fresh juices, iced tea and lemonade.

Got some coffee cake, muffins, bear claws and bagels out on the breakfast bar for breakfast.

Mookie, better beware of rusty cans of tuna!!

Think I'll head out to the garden, for a few, before it turns hotter than a firecracker outside!

Everyone have a great day, and stay as cool and safe as possible.

Will sneak in and out quietly this morning.  We may have a cold front coming and don't want to make any waves.

Somewhere in a dream last nite, I happened to be in a strange place outdoors, looking at a lot of dirt and Sir Chicken showed up in his truck and handed me a rusty can of tuna.  Then drove off.  Wonder what a dream analyst would do with that!  Maybe he is really on an dig and found an artifact.  I will leave it on the imaginary table.  Not sure about the expiration date.....

Tree - like your avatar.  Always like to see a handsome man in uniform!

Funny for today - local man robbed convenience store and got caught.  Last name?  Dumschott.  You can't make these things up.

He could be, but I couldn't tell b/c my monitor didn't display the pic right for a while.  Maybe he is hanging on...I wondered why he'd be hosing a tank car off.

You could always blame it on a late Monday.  Mondays are usually up to be scapegoats.  Hope it heals ok for ya.  BTW are you hosing off the tank car in your avatar?  Why?

106 degrees yesterday, without the heat index...

Already up to 103 today and the worst is yet to come...

Is ice considered a food?

Did a rookie mistake today...climbed up on a black tankcar with out my gloves, rested my arm on the handrail and managed to get a good burn on the inside of my forearm...

Ho-Kay....I actually have a minute to breathe before the next onslaught.

I have the need to make a statement before I go into the wonderful world of fantasy.....I have been watching the "rest of the forum"....they could use a little fantasy once in awhile.

Anyone strolling through here having any kind of cooler weather?  I know it is August, but it could be a very nice month if not for the 100+ degree heat.

Guess we had a scare in our diesel shop (BNSF) - they found some kind of putty all wrapped up and left in several cabs in the area.  Now that was early this morning on the news and by tonite or tomorrow it will end up probably being someone's garden tomatoes left in one cab by accident.  Seems the news is one way at 8 am and completely different at 6 pm.

Anyway - hazmat was called out and have heard no more.

Well, I am going to go sit somewhere and wait to see who I can snag as they wander by.  Too hot to bat them around, so maybe I will just do a little ankle biting.  Anyone else notice how crabby people everywhere are lately?  Or do I just meet a better class of crabbies?

Yawn....

CW the Fiesta just made my day.  You've brought a smile to me.  Thanks for that.

I put out six resumes yesterday and got six calls today to set up interviews.  Apparently finding a better job has decent prospects.  One interview tomorrow morning and more later this week.

Back in later if I have time.

Hope someone, two or three, come in for lunch.  On the warmer bar, you will find that today is:  MEXICAN FIESTA DAY.  tacos, burritos (bean & beef, beef & onion, regular and enchilada style), quasadillas, Spanish rice, and various other Mexican dishes.  Even have some tortilla chips and salsa and con qaso (sp) .

Desserts:  whatever you find in the cooler (pies and cobblers) and there's a couple of 1/4 sheet cakes on the counter (including chocolate cake w/chocolate icing).

You all have a great afternoon, and take care and stay cool and SAFE!!

Good Tuesday morning to one and all!  Feeling a whole lot better today.  Went to bed early:  around 9:15, 9:30, and slept all night long.

Coffee is ready, juices freshly made, along with fresh lemonade and iced tea .

On the breakfast/warmer bar this morning:  waffles w/fresh strawberries and Cool Whip.  Bob, thanks for the request!  Anyone have any requests for lunch and/or supper tonight?

Mudchicken, take care out in that heat today!!  Along with everyone else, who has to be out in it!!  I know it's miserable!!

I hear ya - it was clear here earlier, but when I went out later all I could see was a few stars peeking through holes in the overcast. I went to bed.
