//turns and grabs Hammer off the shelf

WHAM!

Is that better?  I must have left one side lower as a result of falling down and getting myself crooked.  Thanks for the spot!

Have a fun night in the basement, Dan.

Sorry I couldn't help decorate this evening. I was out running errands with my mom. Maybe it's just as well. I wouldn't have wanted to get in the way of Dan's hammer.

All of the rain missed us today. Fremont got over an inch and Lincoln did as well. Valley (which is about 10 miles west of Omaha) measured 1.85 inches. In fact, almost the entire state of Nebraska has picked up at least an inch of rain in the last 24 hours with the exception of the extreme eastern edge and one area around Kearney. One measurement from western Nebraska was 11 inches. It seems like it's either feast or famine in this state when it comes to the weather.

Ok, off to bed. Looking forward to the birthday celebrations tomorrow!

EDIT: 10:55 PM

Oops, while I was typing, Brian threw down a rope, so I guess Dan won't be having a fun night in the basement after all.

Thanks Brian.  I guess we're even now!  Someone remind me to finish the stairs sometime this weekend so nobody else falls.  I'll put up a sign warning of the abrupt change in elevation...

I also brought the neon lights up with me and I'll get to mounting them.  First a quick nap after I get Mook's mug down and ready to fill.

Back up the ladder I go...now I get to play with electricity!

You guys did a great job of decorating the Diner last night. I regret that I wasn't here to lend a hand and help out a bit. Anyway, the place looks mighty nice!

We had a MUGLY (muggy to an ugly degree) day here in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and it rained here off an on all day. The humidity here was heavy and oppressive. I reckon it will not be much different here today.

Someone special in Louisville, Kentucky is 21 years old today. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SARAH!! I hope your day will be a good one at that. I might try giving you and Walt and Paula a call this weekend. I had that feeling once, as the basement stairway collapsed under me.  Unfortunately, I managed to dislocate my shoulder in the process, was in an empty house (checking it for a neighbor) and my daughter thought the dog was simply upset because I wasn't home yet (I was calling the dog, hoping my daughter would get curious and check it out).

Breakfast was delish.  Today's my "Friday," and I have a full slate of projects for my day off tomorrow, including a major dyeing project and chemically engraving some railroad cap badges.  Then it's back to the railroad for the weekend.

For now I've got to go find out why someone can't get on the network...

Wonder why my hair is standing on end....  hmmm....

And Tree is racing down the road toward the diner - all bells and whistles....

And the french fryer is overflowing.....

But I smell cake - and that takes prescedence over everything!

Happy B-Day [bday] To Matt, Sarah and Mark....

And....many, many more!

DAN!  You play with electricity and fire hoses - you stay on the other side of the room and put your hands quietly in your lap.

Brian - get your shoes out for Dan - I may have to have a few sound bites with him.....

Hmm.  I thought that you wouldn't mind a bath like my cat Chase likes them.  He's been known to sit in the sink when it's full of water.  I'll leave the 'juice' and the H2O alone for now and meander quietly around the Diner trying to see what else I can find.  Apologies...and a chocolate milk for you!  Big Smile [:D]

Joe - I have 9647 on my list with the note - Green Cab....now it all comes together!

Is there a party tonite - or this weekend?  And don't forget - it is Flag Day.  What a nice way to remember it!

I will watch for it - won't get there tonite, since it time to go get grub for the chuck wagon - but tomorrow pm, will hit the site and see!  They cleaned up the coal and hauled off the bad track - and left a mess - spread around what coal they couldn't get picked up - looks bad along the row....

They could borrow the Driver's shop vac - if they would just ask!

Thanks.  Say, how well can you climb a tree (not Larry-I'd squish him!) wearing those?  I bet they're not too good for sprinting either....I think I may have to put the camoflage back on or go back through the basement door.

EMS is no different than most places and is full ofacronyms. One of the best I ever heard was from an EMT at CY-Fair FD, Station 8, in Houston, where I began my EMS career. He said the above could be stated more simply as "FTGB." That means, Fall Down Go Boom."

Happy Birthday wishes to Matt and Sarah and to my sweetie, Mark. His birthday is actually the 16th, but close enough to start partying now. He's on the road though. So, I will just have to party for him with Matt and Sarah and ya'll here in the diner. By the way, the 16th is also our 7th wedding anniversary.

Here are the birthday menus for today:

For Matt, hamburgers and fries; for Sarah & Mark, a seafood extravaganza, with chalopi, shrimp, clams, lobster, cod, perch, whitefish, rainbow trout, fixed on the grill, with cole slaw & fries.

And for dessert, lots and lots of chocolate cake, pecan pie, and brownies w/chocolate icing.

And Saturday, we'll have another celebration, in honor of Marks birthday, and his & Tina's wedding anniversary.
