Saw this morning on the ex-W.C. in Buffalo Grove, IL. Two G.E. road engines in C.S.X. colors, pulling a mixed freight consisting boxcars, coil cars, and covered hoppers from C.N., the "new" I.C., W.C., G.T.W., N.& W., and Conrail. Since most of these are now part of C.N./C.P., it's not surprising. But as REDDYK said wait a few years...

A couple weeks ago I saw a MoPac tranfer caboose still in red paint just north of downtown Omaha in the industrial area. Later that night saw a Milwaukee hopper on a BNSF train coming off the Council Bluffs sub heading west at P Junk, IA, but it was carrying either DM&E or IC&E reporting marks. See C&NW cars all the time still.

[:o)][:o)] In London, we have seen recently a Rock Island, some WC, and IC. I have also seen a frisco boxcar through here. NW is very common around here in that the NS tends to run 327 and 328 on an almost daily basis. They are less frequent now that the automotive sector is somewhat on a economic slow down. [:D][8D]

SOO GP38's are regularly seen in transfer service in this area and I see them fairly regularly at Landers on my ride home from work (Metra Southwest Service). There is also a baggage car lettered NEW YORK CENTRAL sitting in the Amtrak coach yard just south of Chicago Union Station. I don't think it's been moved for a while and may be used for storage.
An overpass of the IHB-B&OCT line over Archer Ave. in Summit IL has the B&O Capitol Dome cast in concrete.
The daily commute is part of everyday life but I get two rides a day out of it. Paul

Saw a hopper yesterday still saying "Milwaukee Road" with the plate to the right saying "America's Resourceful Road". The reporting marks had been changed to KCS. Also saw a loco in Chciago & Northwestern's flourescent yellow, but the logos were removed and was lettered for a leasing company (HREX I believe).

Was in Covington KY today and saw L&N shining through where it was tried to be painted over. No photo. Couldn't get my camera in time.

I love living in Washington. I am close enough to hear both the UP and BNSF lines to hear them at the crossings. There are falling flags o plenty. There are Chessie and Conrail Auto Racks. There are also some Great Northern and Northern Pacific gondola and hopper cars in the Auburn Rail Yard just south of Seattle. In Tacoma there is a bridge by freight house square where the Milwaukee Road’s Markings on it. Great place to watch trains at the Tacoma Rail yard too.

In my area there seems to be a lot of fallen flag cars coming through latly. Therer is a L&N boxcar that has been siting on a siding for over a year. I've seen a couple of chessie covered hoppers rolling through town. And recenly a conrail caboose was just dropped off at the local yard that I assume is going to be used for the locals around town. Those are just some of the cars I've seen recently
