Oh and pine is my favorite wood! Smells so nice. But I would rather see it left as a tree.....we don't have enough as it is!

Walt Garriott (aka locomutt)
Louisville,Ky.
SGT KyARNG (ret.)
Firefighter/EMT (ret.)

Why do some people go into burning buildings,
when everyone else is running out?
Somebody should have told me that years ago,
but, then I would not have had all the fun that I
have had. And they also said helicopters couldn't
fly, darn,I never did catch that tree going down.

Ralph Zimmer Chicago,Ill. ex-RR tower operator, but still a Rail fan. Also into amateur radio; volunteer with Salvation Army Canteens; write poetry; and do calligraphy! My favorite railroad will probably be the IHB, only because I once worked for "them!" It was a great job. I had friends who were into ho gauge trains, and they would always say they were going home to set their sets up, and I said fine, because I'm going to work to play with the Big Boys (the IHB)!

Why does everyone always blame the railroads for 'accidents' that could be prevented if people would wake up and watch where they are going...along with no drinking and driving? I'm sorry to hear someone lost a life, but every time I hear these complaints, that the railroads should do this/that, I want to tell people off. Yes, I am an ex-railroader, and I will defend the railroads. I've seen people get hit by trains for going around gates, instead of waiting. I've seen a switchman who had just got off work, try to beat a switch engine to a crossing and lose to the engine and "luckily" all he got out of it was a damaged vehicle. People had better start waking up...it's not the railroads faults that these accidents happen...it's the drivers of the vehicles, who don't or won't watch both ways before crossing tracks. Ralph,

I'm locomutt's wife, Paula. I think you were treated VERY unfairly: and wouldn't the
ACLU love to sink their teeth into this? What happened to you is DISCRIMINATION
to the 100th degree, if you were let go because of a disability!!!!
Locomutt is disabled also, because of an ambulance accident back in 1987.
Before he ever went to the ambulance service, he worked for a company doing designs
for RR signals and crossings.
He knew the guy who was head of the signal department and visited their operations
office. Only trouble is, he CAN'T REMEMBER the man's name!!!!!!!![:0]

If you like fishing and trainwatching, come to Anchorage- a very popular fishing spot here is right in the middle of Alaska RR's main yard.

is der the singular of deer and moose the plural of mose?
