Why does everyone always blame the railroads for 'accidents' that could be prevented if people would wake up and watch where they are going...along with no drinking and driving? I'm sorry to hear someone lost a life, but every time I hear these complaints, that the railroads should do this/that, I want to tell people off. Yes, I am an ex-railroader, and I will defend the railroads. I've seen people get hit by trains for going around gates, instead of waiting. I've seen a switchman who had just got off work, try to beat a switch engine to a crossing and lose to the engine and "luckily" all he got out of it was a damaged vehicle. People had better start waking up...it's not the railroads faults that these accidents happen...it's the drivers of the vehicles, who don't or won't watch both ways before crossing tracks.
