This has been so entertaining that I'll just have to get up and open up another beer. The pretzels are holding up, though.

Popcorn and Cherry Pepsi for me, please.

Man, I'm sure my late grandfather would've had fun with this guy. Grampa was a PRR cop, and I'm sure he would've laughed very hard while he arrested him for trespassing on private property.

I didn't see anyone else reflect this but after pages of replies I could have missed it.

maybe with foamers with attitudes and people skills like the one starting this thread, is it a wonder that railroadsers and maybe cops and normal folks don'r like RR buffs ?

People with personalities that drive posts like KP and PBenham give the hobby a bad image and it is a contributing factor in why I became a lone wolf long before I dropped out of any active railfanning....don't want anything to do with the GERFS (Glassy eyed rail freaks)

Being a railroader for 29 years, I have seen both sides of the coin.

The rail fan/foamer that wants to just take a photo, while being on public property, not inhibiting traffic or being a hazard....are usually left alone.

However, there are some who feel it is their right to get "up close" or put themselves in a location that could be unsafe for them or the railroad employee.

I think a prerequisite for every rail fan should be to memorize and always follow the first rule in almost every single railroad's rule book....IE...Safety is the first importance in the discharge of duty.

Awe man, why did you have to go and say that?

I've got this "thing" for when people say things like "energizer bunny" or "wow 11 pages of THIS?" that makes me think they are just trying to make people feel self conscious, hoping the thread will die...

And, realizing that self consciousness is a learned behavior, I always figure that's my cue to prove to them that dumb is beautiful...

Actually, I would enjoy watching from the overpass or the grade crossing when characters like the originators of this post ran into Ed's switch crew or somebody of similar ilk.

[#ditto][#ditto][#ditto][#ditto][#ditto][#ditto]waltersrails. You must be talking about "You Pee" since I dont have any trouble with the railroads that my friends and I railfan. It also helps if you go to the same spot for awhile. I go to the same spots and the crews know who I am, what I am doing, and they don't have a problem with it. If you want to complain about it thats fine just don't do it here.

I hope this topic gets shut down.

I knew I shouldn't have looked at this thread, now I need to go see some therapist to erase from my mind the awful image of some goofy nerd with too many cameras slung on his neck and an engineers cap with patches galore wrapping themselves in the American flag.......

When I go railfanning I shoot with my:
Cannon 35mm
Smith&Wesson .44
Remington 12ga
Ruger .45
Norinco AK47
Winchester 30/30
But I dont wear them all around my neck at once.[8D]
Of course I only shoot the Cannon at trains.[;)]
