Who Has the Guts to Standup for America?
Posted by K. P. Harrier on Thursday, October 27, 2005 12:36 PM
Railroads are lying, abusive tyrants toward railfans. It has been proven time and time again that those that standup in unison to injustice are rewarded. Look at the famous Rosa Parks (who just died) and the Civil Rights movement! Railroads need to forcefully learn what American justice is, and not be trampling underfoot the American flag.

I say expose railroads to the world … And railroad stockholders will soon get the point, and force the needed reforms. I beg: Who has the guts to standup for America?

Clarification of 10-28-05 also repeated on page 4:

“RAILROADS ARE LYING, ABUSIVE TYRANTS TOWARD RAILFANS.”

I say the unpaved SLANTED edges of public roadways were paid for by taxpayers, and as such are NOT railroad liability properties. The roadway may sit on railroad property, but an easement was granted. Thus the public has a right to park off the pavement on the slanted edge. Right? Some railroads don’t think so.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- K.P.’s absolute “theorem” from early, early childhood that he has seen over and over and over again: Those that CAUSE a problem in the first place will act the most violently if questioned or exposed.

It's their property, they (RR's) can do what they want on it (within reason and federal laws). As long as you respect the property line, so should they.

Would you like someone you don't know looking over the fence into your backyard or worse, your bedroom, all the time and have this same person claim it's THEIR RIGHT to see what you are doing in the privacy of your property (home). I didn't hink so.

Who?
Maybe we should do a protest, get them to let us do legal things. This is not an issue as big as racism, but it should be delt with....eventually.

I'm not sure I've ever been lied to, or been abused by these theoretical "tyrants." I must be railfanning in all the wrong places again. Dagnabit...I miss all the fun. Vsmith, as long as you took the time to set up the machine, I'll grab some popcorn!

Where's Ed when we need him? He's one of the top troll detectors on these forums. In the meantime, I'll sit back with some pretzels and a cold beer to enjoy the show.

I'm a bit puzzled really - I suspect we hear about every single railfan who gets hassled, but how many get hassled as a percentage of the total number of railfans out there? It's the same as those car reliability surveys - according to those I should be spending every waking hour at the garage getting mine fixed, but it's not missed a beat in the 6 years we've owned it and regularly outdrags stuff that's 9 years younger. Likewise I've not had any problem railfanning - then again I do pick locations carefully (getting out into the wilderness can have benefits, as in no people = no problem!)

Oh, are they? Well, that's news to me! Sure, there are some jerks out there who work on the railroad, but most of them are respectful to railfans. I mean......

As a railfan who works for a RR, you've successfully explained the internal conflict I'm feeling[:D]

Wow, Jump jet jr.
When I get to work Saturday, I will talk to my abusive and tyrannical bosses, and see if we can reverse this horrid trend in pestering rail fans....
In the meantime, if we erect a plaque on the site of your last arrest, would that help any?

Unless you are looking through binoculars at the occupants of a sleeping car,
then you shouldn't see any private bedrooms while out railfanning.

You have a Dr Pepper to go with that popcorn? Large Popcorn and medium soda for me.

I noticed that there's no second entry from K.P Harrier in this post. I was hoping for some details of his "encounter" that made him vent like this.

I have yet to run into a bad railroad employee. Just remember: as you act, so are you treated. So don't go and mess it up for the rest of us because you want to be a jerk about your train watching privleges. [*steps off of soapbox*]

Anyway, I'll take a large Coke and bucket of popcorn, with extra butter. (talk about a quick way to spend $10! [;)])

I would stand up, but I'm afraid I would block the view of the show for the people sitting behind me.

Large popcorn, no butter and a medium Coke.

The point is that there are railroad employees that do not like having railfans[:(!] around when they are at work. They hate their jobs[xx(], hate their employer[xx(], and they hate [V] you, too! They will violate your rights because they are[censored] and They will continue to do it because the authorities are represented by BULLIES-- That also hate their jobs, hate their employer, and hate ANYONE that interrupts their chowing down on a doughnut, drinking coffee, smoking, and behaves outside their sphere of understanding, which is pathetically tiny.[V] The terrorists have given these[censored][banghead][*^_^*][D)][|(]s The PERCEPTION they can STOMP ON US! Well, this is a fight that cannot be won, gang, unless there is a 100% united front that will let the major carriers know that they need to have us on their side[^] NOT fighting them. [V] A way to protest: write your member of the house and your senators and tell them that you want to have Amtrak de-funded, and have the railroads restore ALL pre-Amtrak trains, at 100% of all costs on their own! Then we'll see...
