I must concur with csxengineer......"who cares?"..... No one cares what color Schneider paints their trucks. It's none of our business. No one cares what color I paint my car. It's non of your business. It's none of our business what color any company paints its property. We are all entitled to our opiniions.

Sounds like someone got their tail twisted!

We can have an opinion on here, cuz that's why there is a forum.

I think from a marketing standpoint, I would want my product to look pleasing since it will be all over the US of A. Granted, most businesses want their product to get from point A to point B and if it is done with a caravan of purple ponies, so what? I think it makes good PR sense to want to look nice to the general public and the people you do business with. A sense of pride means you will maybe take better care of their product.

Why wa***he locomotives? Why buy dress-up clothes?

Don't mind the colors, nearly identacle to lots of trolley cars, Milwaukee and Johnstown, for example. But what is the wedge for? What does it have to do with railroading? A rerailing frog? Again, the old Sante Fe scheme was best, without a doubt! In my humble opinion, of course, but then I don't get paid to design these color schemes and someone obviously does.

Don't be to hard on the guy, remember his is a great line put together from many diverse flags. We need to understand his confusion and hope that he and his company come to understand what Mookie says about marketing and that some pride in his company can match the pride he has in his trade.

EEEEEUUUUUUWWWW!!! They broke the ugly stick on that beast! It would have been much better if they had gone back to the Warbonnet scheme . . . or the old Santa Fe freight colors . . . or the old Frisco scheme . . or the old BN green . . . or anything other than orange. War Pumpkin pretty much sums it up; or maybe Rotten Pumpkin.

[V][:(] It saddens me that more of the Santa Fe heritage is disappearing from the locomotive and rolling stock rosters. Now, the only evidence left on locomotives would be the silver fuel tanks and trucks.

I always thought the cigar band was a nice touch, and tip of the hat to the SF heritage.

Take care,

Russell

But arn't the RR's just waisting money everytime someone comes along just to change the logo all the time?
I mean this is like the State of Nebraska changing the Licence Plates every 5 Years.
Look at the Union Pacific Railroad,The UP has had the "same" paint job for over a 100 Years. The UP has kept the Paint more than any RR that I know of.
Like I told my friend last night,I told him "Why didn't the BN just keep the SD70MAC's in the Cream&Green? And he told me Hell no because when get durty as hell they tend to look like crap,I thought......Ok!" And then he said that the BN should have kept the TRUE BN Green&Black. I said to him "Ahh I don't know anymore". The way I look at it,Now I don't feel sorry at all for the UP "not" changing theirs. At least the UP was SMART!
Once you have a Paint scheme leave it as is.

Ugly is ugly that is for sure, but like our mama's told us to remember to say something good about what you don't like. After much thought, deliberation and serching I have to admit that the new livery for BNSF despite its showing of limited imagination, artistry of a color challenged art department, Taste's similar to saying Hail Tech in Athens, Or wearing FL Gator colors anywhere, You can at least see it comming

I hope this doesn't offend anybody, but I kind of like it. I can see why some people wouldn't like it, but personally, I'm fine with the new paint.

Go to www.acdelco.com and you will basically see the same logo. Just change the swoosh color and replace BNSF for ACDELCO. No wonder this logo has short-comings on a GE.

I honestly don't care how they paint their locomotives as long as they deliver the goods (including Amtrak), but, quite frankly, it reminds me of the logo on a toothpaste tube.

O.K. folks, for a limited period of time you do all have an opportunity to register your RESPECTFUL opinions with BNSF management about the new image and logo, and hopefully change their minds. There is an E-Mail link within the BNSF website sitemap. Also, every BNSF exec is reachable with an E-mail address that has their first name, followed with a dot, followed by their last name@BNSF.com (Example: Matthew.Rose@BNSF.com).

Just remember to:

1. Keep everything in a respectful and reasonable tone, and with proper spelling and grammar.
2. Preface your comments with the fact that you are a long-time supporter and admirer of BNSF's outstanding management and extraordinarily well-run railway, and that you've had many friends and relatives who've worked for BNSF and their predecessor railways over the years.
3. State in a reasonable and respectful manner just why you dislike the new image and logo, and why you feel that it is not as representative of BNSF's true image and customer service reputation as is your preferred previous image(s) and logo(s). Try to include any and all well-known business references that you can, such as Forbes magazine's well-known survey from about 15 years ago that found the old Warbonnet image and cross-and-circle logo to be the fifth most widely recognized and respected image and logo in American corporate history.

Good luck, folks. Just remember to keep a respectful and reasonable tone about any and all communications with BNSF management.

Sincerely, Ross R. Moore, Jr.

I like it myself, I think that there is far worse things that they could do with it. Maybe because I am a big Nike fan it rubs off on me.

I'll bet you they paid some slick ad agency $150,000 or more to design that ugyly logo, but I guess that's what is meant by "If you are a real artist, you paint pictures...If you're a wanna be artist, you design logos"...by the way I think it is ugly also, but I can hardly wait until the weather warms up so I can get back trackside and see one for real.

I don't care for it but if I see one I will be blazing away with the camera.
If runs on rails I will photograph it.

There is no such thing as a bad day of railfanning. So many trains, so little time.

first off..that made no sence.....second... paint is paint...... the units could be painted in black with purple pockadots for all i care.... they are going to profrom the same function regardless of what they look like on the outside... a locomoitive is heavey equipment.... it is designed to get freigth (railcars) from point A to point B... and it it wasnt for the fact that the locomotive steel would rust away to nothing in a few years if not for paint...they wouldnt even bother to spend the money on the paint in the first place if it would save the a few bucks....... i just dont see what all the major fuss is about ..... its just paint people

Ah CSXE - I love your crusty point of view. But have a question - if paint is paint then why is BNSF changing their paint jobs? Sure, we are complaining cuz it's pretty ugly, but they seem to feel the need to change from what they have to this. Why not go back to just the Henry Ford any color - black. But then, maybe you and I are in agreement on this one - maybe all black would be good.

Well....if I were to pursue the conspiracy line of thought that has been sort of hinted at in prior posts it would only seem reasonable to assume BNSF is really a clever way of announcing they are Building Norfolk Southern's Future. With this in mind it then becomes obvious the orange paint base has been engineered so that in time, the orange will bleach away under that strong western sun and turn to a bright white. The resultant black and white will then perfectly match the paint scheme of the well known eastern road...and save everyone a bundle with respect to future repaints! ...as somebody once said ...give me a premise to stand on and I'll deduce a world....fantasy tho it may be.[:)]

I guess I'll have to join the minority on this thread and say that it looks ok to me. There are other schemes I've like better and many I've liked less.
