This is really ugly....but there's hope. Remember when the vomit bonnette came out and there was a real negetive response to that scheme? Whell they improved on it.

As another thought, if they merge with the NS all they have to do is change the color of the ns in BNSF.

But what I think they should have done is paint it in black and white like the NS

They sure as hell better not call it "HERTAGE III". There's no ATSF to it...I got a new slogan for them BNSF-We'll screw up your paint scheme. I think it's a cheap Rio Grande style lettering...yuck, yuck, YUCK! I saw Heritage 1 and 2 locomotives yesterday...I would have never thought I would wake up this morning and find those OUTDATED...even the heritage II!!!!!! SHAME SHAME SHAME ON YOU BNSF!!!!

Oh yeah...this can end up like the "vomit bonnet" for all I care..I had a vision of an SD40-2 in the new scheme...I almost had a heart attack!

Hang in there guys. Ten years from now it will be something else. A hundred years from now there will be a very lengthy topic as the next century's railfans try to find out if BNSF stood for anything.

Stick around! You haven't seen the end of BNSF yet.
BNSF stands for Bigger New Santa Fe!
I still like that one.

The BN (Borg Nation) folks slipped Marketing some $$$$$$$ under the the table to wipe out the last vestiges of ATSF as part of their corporate identity. Don't be surprised if Cascade Green make a comeback shortly.(see any Frisco images anymore?)[:(][:(][:(]

ps - The only part of the old BN that was moderately fast was the Q and it was never as quick or responsive as Santa Fe when judged as a whole..

Now that is a name that strikes fear in the hearts of men....

Pardon me if I don't shed a tear over the demise of the last traces of the Santa Fe or the failure to bring back the warbonnet image. Did any of you out there honestly think the suits would?

You have got to remember that there are/were other roads that made up BNSF and that the world did not revolve around all that is red/silver. Gone, too is the:

B - Burlington Route (I'm glad Harry Murphy and Ralph Budd aren't around to see this)
N - Great Northern as well as the Northern Pacific

As well as the Burlington Northern for those who were fans of it. I won't even get into the Frisco, Fort Worth & Denver, Colorado & Southern, and the Spokane, Portland & Seattle.

I am not surprised that the suits have come up with a new logo. Reminds me of when some rocket scientist in Fort Worth came up with the "disco paint" scheme for the SD70MACs and the business car fleet.

Regards,
Burlington John

Wasn't that long ago that there was the ruckus with the Quality symbol that vaguely resemsebled the Quaker Oats Symbol. Same marketing dummies?

Burlington John - Lose the Great Northern Paint scheme along with the "re-imaging".
