QUOTE: Originally posted by JOdom EEEEEUUUUUUWWWW!!! They broke the ugly stick on that beast! It would have been much better if they had gone back to the Warbonnet scheme . . . or the old Santa Fe freight colors . . . or the old Frisco scheme . . or the old BN green . . . or anything other than orange. War Pumpkin pretty much sums it up; or maybe Rotten Pumpkin.

There is no such thing as a bad day of railfanning. So many trains, so little time.

But have a question - if paint is paint then why is BNSF changing their paint jobs? Sure, we are complaining cuz it's pretty ugly, but they seem to feel the need to change from what they have to this. Why not go back to just the Henry Ford any color - black. But then, maybe you and I are in agreement on this one - maybe all black would be good. [^]

QUOTE: Originally posted by erikthered I'm never going to argue when a railroad changes it's paint scheme. I'm going to hold on to my negatives of locomotives under the old paint scheme, wait thirty years, and submit them all to TRAINS. I will probably be able to supplement my police retirement with all the royalty checks that come in. I might even send them in to CLASSIC TRAINS and double dip. Heck, maybe I can get KALMBACH to publish a book of the photos... in thirty years, if I'm still around. Folks, I would never have known Santa Fe's Warbonnet paint scheme if I hadn't played with a LIONEL diesel in my misspent youth. It's taken me years to acknowledge that the NYC ever painted their locomotives anything other than black- because the NYC steam locomotive I had from LIONEL was, uhm, black. Corporations change their public persona all the time. My kids (aged 22 and 20) give me a blank stare when I talk about "Ma Bell"... but they recognize the AT&T logo. Personally, I hated it when red, yellow and silver disappeared from the Santa Fe. I see the Big New Santa Fe "heritage" scheme as a "pumpkin" scheme. Unfortunately for my personal feelings, professional marketers and wiser heads at BNSF made a decision for me. And so it is here. Now, if UP went to something other than Armour Yellow and gray... oh boy, would I complain! And I'd probably get the same results, too... Erik
QUOTE: As another thought, if they merge with the NS all they have to do is change the color of the ns in BNSF. But what I think they should have done is paint it in black and white like the NS
