The cleaning crew for the polling site came in this morning and sanitized the FD banquet hall for voting tomorrow. They'll come back Wednesday and sanitize again.
The voting equipment showed up later than usual, after noon, so that's there.
Now I've got to get up at Oh-dark-thirty to open the place up for them in the morning. Maybe I'll hang around while they set up, and be voter number one.
During the day, I have to take a fire truck to a dealer for service. That'll be four hours of sitting around. I'll take my computer so I can surf...

This bears repeating! You can't complain about the outcome unless you vote in the first place.
Sitting in the auto dealership, waiting for them to work on one of our fire trucks. I've been here for 40 minutes, and the truck is still sitting where I left it.. Not happy.

If that was a Cleburne rebuild with a Topeka cab or a wreck rebuild, the only f/n you may find is the one on the fireman's side rear. On occasion, the top of the coupler drawbar pocket got stamped like the way Alco did it.
Wonder if Larry is still at the dealership?
Maybe they have soemthing fun to test drive?
It's been fun. But it isn't much fun anymore. Signing off for now.

They finally took the truck into the shop after an hour - and after I asked about it.
Got done a little after two, almost three hours.
Reading the service report, it was a bit of a bear to do the necessary repair. And they had to do it with the truck on the ground - it was too heavy to put on the lift. Had they said something, I could have drained out the two tons of water on-board...
One of the service writers did come over to me around noon to make sure I'd brought a snack or something... I had.
The polling place has been busy, according to the polling workers. Almost 400 by 3:15 PM - this is a small town. It's looking like most polling places are seeing well over half of the registered voters.
I hear fires in auto shops are really hard to put out (especially if you can't get the truck hauling the water there)
Saw a Ford house go up in flames at Lamar, CO a few years back. Quite the sight.

All humor aside...
The Hackensack Ford fire was a watershed event in the fire service.

Our brush truck (the one that was in the shop) only carries 250 gallons of water...
Ns was clear after work.Had to call a car man from Ns for a CP high cube car that wouldn't open up.Didn't hear the details of the why it wouldn't open but it was when I left work.Came home and mulched up some more leaves.MC took Friday off so might go inquire with local shortline peeps. They are friendly.Saturday going to work on more projects in Deshler.Time to get cleaned up.
Funny about toliet paper. Its still not filling the grocery store's shelves here. However a question to a friend that runs a business. Said he bought all the commercial TP paper he wanted at a 50% discount. Cannot believe the TP plants have not converted to residential more ?

As of Sunday (my shopping day) there was no shortage of TP at my local store. I feature I have a 2 month supply on hand at my current rate of elimination.

Big thing is expense, paper machines are expensive to shut down and restart, much less convert. Could also be with the feedstock involved, not all pulp is the same. GP had both mills in Green Bay down for a week in October to reconfigure machines, a lot of commercial paper was made there. I'm guessing that we are now making a lot of consumer products there, several truck loads a day of Sam's Club and Costco brand paper head to the Chicago area every day that I'm aware of. We also picked up a few Amazon accounts, my sister has bought mainly from Amazon for the last year or so, only way I can get nice toilet paper that won't plug our toilet.........

Ns was clear after work.Ran an errand uptown.Have more to do tomorrow.Deshler Saturday.
Had a good day today. The people at the ND&W were earlier than I expected.Did get permission to look around the locomotive.Only number I found was on top of the coupler on the front.E4936AE? The guys also said locomotive repair was coming next week to work on it.Csx sent it's usual mix of trains.Even saw the local come in and go out of town.Loading up materials for Deshler for tomorrow.Matt is still deciding what tools he wants to bring as well.
Joe - Offline, can you tell me the Unit # (possible wreck rebuild and there is no f/n after repairs)
JoeKohOnly number I found was on top of the coupler on the front.E4936AE?
That's just the coupler model. On EMDs there's usually a frame number front right corner of the frame (if it hasn't been ground off, or plugged with paint, or covered with a reflective stripe.) They never meant much to me, but I treat it like an easter egg.

mudchicken... and left rear. Alco and GE had other means.
Never knew that. Did GE do them above the coupler ?
Howdy
The engine is bnsf 2026.Saw no other marks on the sides.Too much paint covering the area.Went and finished up some projects in Deshler today.Csx decided to take 2 trains (508/509) on the Toledo sub today instead of going through North Baltimore.Always hurry up and wait for North Baltimore. The tower windows aren't going to be as big but at least they aren't going to knock the tower down.Met some new friends.Poor lady and son follwed the GPS to get to Deshler from Columbus.Told her of a better route back home.Time to get cleaned up.Leaf duty tomorrow.

GE was inconsistent. Sometimes above the electrical cabinet in the cab, sometimes over the front door, ocassionally other places. Best bet was the builder's plate until those vanished. No idea why.
Joe: That rascal spent plenty of time out here on the branches and as a Colorado switch engine. Still the original cab, not a Topeka cab. The current BNSF 2026 is something of a well travelled oddball as well.
mudchickenKroger has just started rationing cannon fodder to customers again. Two packages per customer.
Never heard that term before, sounds like a dangerous personal condition. I've only noticed that the national chain grocery near me still can't stock paper products consistently, IMO due to MBAhole designed supply chain. Now back to railroading ....
Tehachapi got some snow flurries yesterday and it stuck on the mountain tops. Likewise Truckee has the white stuff along the tracks while Lake Tahoe is doing its thermal mass thing ....

I don't thnk I've heard it either, but it may be related to this childhood rhyme:
