Fall officially arrives at 9:21 AM (EDT) Tuesday. Our temperatures have been fall-like of late, but tomorrow is supposed to be more summer-like. Not complaining. As usual, I haven't started some summer projects until now, but that's just how I am.

Another nice day yesterday, and looking pretty good for today.
Working on getting all those projects I should have been working on all summer worked on. Actually making progress, though.

Spent several hours at our local PBS station tonight for their auction.
Normally the auction is done in the spring and involves a plethora of volunteers and staff in the studio, presenting the items, etc. Most of the nights I volunteer there are as a camera operator (I do pretty good...).
This year it was me and the floor director, plus a couple of tech support people in case someone had problems with the on-line bidding. I read the scripts for ten items each of the five times I was on. All bids are being submitted on-line vs via phoning in.
Apparently they are getting a good response - this may be the shape of things to come.
Fall opened with temperate weather here, but unfortunately a Red Flag Warning has been issued for the next two days - temps into the 90s with very low humidity.
A sure sign of fall is when the largest oak tree in the community starts raining acorns on my roof - the squirrels are busy and thankful. Also thankful we don't have these large critters digging burrows here:
Back to topic, I had never come across the recently produced BBC Great Railway Journeys series on cable or OTA, but a good selection is available on YT. The hosts clothing reminds me of movies produced in Technicolor.

Ns was clear after work.Mother nature has sent us some rain and a cool down.Was putting something in my wallett and oops there goes a spare key right down a register vent.Got out the vaccum too to clean them out before heating season could be starting Friday.
Yesterday, I was called to recrew a train out of my away from home terminal. They had only been on duty about 6 hours, so that usually means something is wrong. It was. Once on duty we found out they had been in a grade crossing accident.
Initially we were told they had struck a semi truck but once there the engineer described it as a tractor (the agricultural kind) with a pull behind road grader. No one was hurt, but it ended up with the tractor on one side of the tracks, the grader on the other.
The guy driving the tractor had his girlfriend with him. They must've got out to look at the damage. Then the guy took off with the tractor, leaving his girlfriend behind. Once the responders arrive, including a deputy sheriff, they figure out who the driver was and where he went.
The deputy turns out to be a former neighbor of the engineer, who grew up near there. The deputy informs the engineer that they did find the guy. Not only do they have him for leaving the scene of an accident, the driver was high on Meth. His girlfriend didn't fare much better. She had an outstanding warrant for her arrest from Arkansas. She was taken into custody to be extradited back.
You can't make this stuff up.

I would expect to find Meth Heads many places, but farm tractors in rural areas is not one of them.
(I'd be concerned about where they were making the stuff and dumping the byproducts - NASTY. Farmhouse may well be condemnable .... and you would be surprised where the damn stuff may be found or used.)

We're about as rural as things get and we regularly see reports of meth labs around here.

After that they said production in the rural areas fell because they were making less arrests.
I personally think to make it look like the ban on the cold medicines was working they just stopped looking as much. That leads to less arrests, too.

Considering the number of inmates incarerated in the various penal institutions and the law enforcement agencies needed to stock those institutions (many of which are now 'for profit' and operated by non-governmental concerns) - does this segment of the 'economy' get reported in GDP statistics?

Very chilly temperatures in our area; we didn't escape the 50s today. We were in Michigan since Tuesday, home now. We brought a few of their spectacular colors with us. I also sighted a few freight cars of potential interest, and sent out a six-page report just before the end-of-the-month deadline.

Both mills in Green Bay produce a mix of consumer tissue and commercial tissue, my guess is that with the collapse in demand for commercial tissue and explosion in demand for consumer tissue, they are adjusting lines to meet demand.......
Chilly and windy here all day. A band of lake effect rain dropped over an inch of rain on us today, along with some occasional thunder.
I've got plenty to do inside.
