Educational point: if you look at the tracks right now, you can tell which one of the four has concrete ties!

No worries. The only thing you're missing is a view of 27° in Illinois with a scattering of white s***f at the edges of the ballast. Bad enough here in Texas (33° with light rain); I don't need to see more ugly weather.

And then an EB BNSF local showed up and I settled back to watch a little switching. Watched him pause long enough to drop his ground man at the switch and start to pull away so he could back his train into the industry there.
And then the screen froze. "Refreshing" got me a black screen, too. Bah! Humbug!
It's ba-ack!

Black screen here - W10 + Chrome laptop
Never too old to have a happy childhood!
Getting a blank screen with W10 - Chrome, but it works with IE11.
The thread on the Roanoke Railcam is buried so deep I can't find it now, so I will comment here... I reported a couple of weeks ago that the Roanoke Railcam was not working... and I have not gotten it to work since... it just reports that streaming is not available at this time... but it had 3 thumbnails of other things to view on YouTube and one of them was the Roanoke Railcam. So I clicked on it. That opened the YouTube page and lo-and-behold it works fine there. Seems YouTube is not allowing linking the video into a foreign webpage. You have to view it on YouTube itself.

Looks like some serious work going on today.
Whatever it was, it's done now.
Really, Trains? I log on to a Subscribers Only web page and you fill my screen with an ad urging me to subscribe to your magazine? Ever hear of counterproductive advertising?
watched the two, three days of the work. Looks like the crew was replacing lengths of track, and this work was to the right of the screen edge, the day before we saw the crews.
The screen sized add is easily removed, and pops up after the first of the month
There must be trouble with the automatic interlocking tonight- westbound UP has snuck right up to the diamond and stopped...
EDIT: ATCS shows an EB coming and cleared to cross on M1, WB is probably waiting for him. ATCS doesn't even show him as being there.

I wonder if it was the same sections that they added when put in the new diamonds?
Can't tell now ... brr .. 3F
Just checked a minute ago [7:45 AM Central time] and the Web Cam says its -24. If that's accurate I wonder if that's a record low temperature.
The answers to your questions are:Is that accurate: probably yes.Is it a record: probably no, but who cares? It's cold outside!(We had 22 below here this morning, and that compares with the modern-day record of -27, recorded in 1983. I wouldn't be surprised if Rochelle hit 30 below back then. At least today is sunny...in '83 I had to work in the yard, and it was snowy and windy--all of the definitive components of a blizzard.)
Just jumped on for a quick look; the BNSF main closest to the camera (sorry, I don't know whether it's 1 or 2), is completely snow covered and looks like it hasn't seen a train in a couple days. It doesn't appear windy and the other track is quite clearly in use, as are both UP tracks. To my knowledge, there hasn't been much significant snowfall in the last couple days either. Any word of trouble in the area? Did they reduce traffic during the cold temps to the level that they only need one track open through there right now?
The snow covered BNSF track is not a main track. Apparently other tracks have a higher priority when it comes to clearing snow. Usually I have seen this track used when it is necessary to back onto a connecting track (not seen) on the upper left.
Johnny, I beg to differ- the nearest track IS Main 1. It just hasn't been used much lately due to two trains being parked on it, one on either end of the double track run outside of Rochelle- at least that's what ATCS seems to be indicating for at least the past week. I've watched BNSF traffic come through there alot lately, and they invariably switch to Main 2 to avoid the occupied blocks. Sometimes they'll cross back over to Main 1 through Rochelle to meet opposing moves, but the last couple of days have seen such low traffic that it hasn't been necessary.
Oh, and last night Rochelle got an additional couple of inches of snow.
EDIT: Based on ATCS indications right now, Main 1 is about to get used.
Is for me ... looks like it is trying to load. Must have too many heaters plugged in at the park.
Working again for me...
Just witnessed something very unusual on the webcam- very strange-looking consist headed westbound on BNSF #2. Must've been some sort of track geometry train, as it did not have conventional engines, and just about every one of the eight or so cars was extremely well lit with self-directed floodlights mounted near the tops of the cars. My first reaction as it came into view was "WTH???" Oh, and the trailing car had full-illumination headlight and ditchlights.
I'd think that was a rail grinder.
