I saw a video clip on the Weather channel of this about 20 mins ago. That explains the detouring intermodal trains coming up from KC and going east over the old CNW.

It won't amount to much, probably about an inch for the entire week.Hang on down south!

blue streak 1 At 6:00 PM had no storms nearby by but by 6:30 thunder bumper to west with the tornado sirens going off. By 7:00 several EMS units were heading west from different stations. No report yet. Saw very ominous clouds to the west as sirens going off but cell has dissipated going toward Newnan. Forecast for about 0400 - 0600 is that awful line of tornadoes will be passing thru our area. Going to be a long night ! ! !

tree68 A new recommendation for taking shelter has come up, though. As you're headed for your shelter area, grab your bike helmet, and put it on! So simple even a cave man can do it!

Mother Nature raising Cain in Mississippi - good sized tornado in Tupelo.
The Weather Channel is in "all out" mode - which means anyone who has any inkling that there's bad weather coming has no reason not to have taken appropriate precautions.
They even had video of the storm itself taken from a local TV station's tower, as the tornado was on the ground.
St Louis is under the gun as well.
If you are in any of the areas affected, pay attention. This looks like a pretty serious system.

Deggestry: We found the lounge somewhat small. The biggest problem was the golf cart to the train. A gold line train stopped at the Union Station platform preventing us from getting to the Sunset. The gates remained down on the cart path until the light rail train cleared 15 minutes later. Did anything like that happen to you or has the problem been cleared ?

"BirthdayH" to "OltmannD" today! Hope it's a great one!
I'll be "back in the saddle" for the first time this year at the end of May. Working a wine/beer train as conductor this coming Friday.
Ms Mook - Congrats. I'm a long way from great grandchildren - the oldest grandchild is only six. Still waiting impatiently for grandchild #4. Prospective Mom and Dad are, too. Daughter is rapidly reaching the "high risk" pregnancy age and wants to have another before it's too late.
Worked my first night at the auction tonight - managed to get through without any on-air gaffes. But it's live TV! Gotta expect something to go haywire!

Neat video. Hopefully I get to train to take the right-hand seat this year. I'm about 12 away from going. Waiting is the hardest part.
It's been fun. But it isn't much fun anymore. Signing off for now.
The opinions expressed here represent my own and not those of my employer, any other railroad, company, or person.t fun any
Jeff,
Crew caller get the order screwed up, or it just worked out that way?
Anyhow, happy birthday…..seems like a bad week for railroaders wives though, mine slipped and fell in the parking garage at her office and managed to tear up her palms, and got a good deep road rash on her knee, and broke a bone in her left foot, the same side she broke an ankle on two years ago.
Xray shows an “incomplete” fracture in the bone between the little toe and the top of the foot, have appointment with the foot surgeon Tuesday, and I already know what he is going to do….finishing breaking it so the break is a clean one, then put her in a cast.
Clean breaks heal better than fractures, which calcify up instead of growing new bone.
Weather fools said thunderstorms and cool down by noon today.
At 1pm, it was 90 degrees with not a cloud to been seen and a breeze blowing in from the gulf, never rained a drop.
Did have a 8 foot gator work on his sun tan in a ladies driveway down the road in Clear Lake….Parks and Wild Life now has extra hand bag or cowboy boot material for sale!

evening
home from helping with dad.tests to do.did see some trains.Took some pictures around Celina. Back to work and Matt is back to school tomorrow.Achievement test time for him.(happy bday Jeff!!)
I had to sneak in today. I guess the trolls are back.
Thunder and rain this evening. I was able to finish mowing the lawn before the rain started. I took my grass clipping to the compost dump. I was surprised how much had been dropped off there in the last week. The burn pile is gi-normous.
Tonight they are calling for strong storms, wind, and possible tornadoes. Guess that means sleeping with the weather radio. I never felt the need to do that until I moved here in Missouri.
Stay safe, y'all. I hope all y'all had a good weekend.
James
If you check national radar - the rain just blows up like an invisible bubble over NE and is even going backward. We did have a nice rain all morning (thank you) and now sunny, sunny, sunny. But barometer sez "whee" on its way down.
Found out I am going to be great grandma again. This will be 2nd one, same granddaughter. I have 3 granddaughters and one grandson, so the family could get rather large. And mommy-to-be and husband think they will move to Lincoln.
I was born & raised here and only left for less than a year, but came back. Family, extended family and some friends have all moved away. But I must have a good porch light (think lighthouse) cuz they all come back! I am glad cuz anyone that knows me knows moving is not an option with me. (I detest any form of moving) Put everything you need in life in a brown paper sack and drive off. See how easy that is! And if you really don't even want to do that much - set fire to the paper bag in the driveway before you go! KISS!

Almost 80 yesterday, freezing rain and snow in the air today with serious wind predicted later.... Mooks, your cooling down is a comin'! (snizzle?)
Weather dog says it's damp outside, but he wants his walk anyway.
That was a track inspector, the track is a leg of a wye and was locked out.
Randy
Randy: you are right! Just like my cab ride a few years ago. I sat right behind the engineer! Brought back great memories.
Thanks for the B-day wishes. Had a pretty good day.
Started off by mowing the lawn. First time this year. It was Becky's idea, since I had the time off.
Then took Becky to the emergency room. Not for suggesting that the lawn could stand mowing, she fell after missing a step leaving a restaurant yesterday. Hurt her wrist upon landing. She wouldn't go yesterday to have it checked, but agreed to this morning after it didn't seem to be any better. Nothing broken and should be good as new in a week or so.
Later we went to a presentation at the Boone & Scenic Valley's museum. It was given by a mother-daughter team, mom was an Iowa teenager who was recruited by the UP during WW2 to work as a telegrapher. Quite interesting.
And my ETT collection has grown with the addition of a 1987 Soo Line system, a 1992 ATSF system and a 1996 SP Central Region time tables.
OK, I'm schooled out for a week.
Two full days of EMS sessions, plus an evening. Most of the presentations were pretty good, one was pretty boring, and way over the head of most of the attendees. I know the instructor, though, and that's par for the course for him.
Now comes four days of TV (behind the camera), then two days of railroad - one working and one in class.
Busy, busy, busy.
Happy Birthday, Jeff! (If a little late.)
Popcorn is almost ready.
Lunch trackside. Coal is flowing! About 5 coal trains in 1.5 hours. Very nice, windy day.
Happy birthday today to our trans-Iowa railroader, Jeff Hergert! Hope it's a great day, wherever it finds you!
It has been something of a challenging month for me here ... first my heart/CHF/blood sugar decided to play hob with each other but as well.....my band is doing quite well for itself .... The gig tonight was...erm...interesting. Doing the first set I managed to toss my guitar into the speaker bin behind me....Second set...skewered the headstock of same guitar into my 4X12.
Johnny - I lived in Oklahoma - western - and they were just the nicest people you would ever want to know! They always treated us like family!
BOC - Wish you well in your rehab. Send rain if possible!
Well, we are now getting rained on and it is cooling off ...again....
Tonight we are having a couple of sets of our music and some covers of some space rockish stuff....the band is going quite well here...well enough that we may find a couple of 'residencies' here......
As for mine heart...cardiac rehab starts on Tuesday for me....yes!!.....
Carl, I forgot to mention that I also saw some CHTT cars--and I do not remember, at the moment, what subsidiary this is.
I am spending the day in Oklahoma city; I had hoped to try to find a cousin whom I have never seen, but was unable to locate a residential telephone directory--so I could not call him if he is listed. As I was walking on one street or another, people would greet me as though they knew me (ahh, if only they did know me....).
