Deggesty I doubt you thought to have a pumpkin or two to throw at them.
Actually, there were around 250 pumpkins (nice throwing size) in the dump body... Didn't want to waste any.
At least I didn't catch them "in the act..."

Johnny - I was thinking about the same thing. The sheriff got "new" wheels to bust parkers.

DeggestyLarry, how are matters progressing with the disabled locomotive, particularly as having the repairs taken care of?
Per the owner, things are looking pretty good. It may make it back to Utica under its own power this fall.
I wonder: did the lovers perhaps think it was the Headless Horseman coming towards them? I doubt you thought to have a pumpkin or two to throw at them. Could we call you "Brom?"

Glad I got in before it went totally out...
Spent Thursday handling hay and pumpkins, and making preps for the Pumpkin Trains.
Spent Friday as conductor, plus made a trip up to set up the pumpkin patch.
Saturday and Sunday watched as the little ones excitely found just the right pumpkin.
Sunday afternoon, tore it all down again, until next year.
Sunday night, slept quite soundly.
Will post a couple of pictures of the "Punkin Patch" when I get them off my camera.
Friday night "aside:" Arrived back in Thendara via hi-rail just after dark, only to be met by headlights on the trail next to our north storage track. Apparently it's a bit of a "lovers lane." I'm sure they were thoroughly startled by the sight of a dump truck, yellow lights flashing, coming down the tracks...

zardoz CShaveRR Randy, what would you do with one if you shot it? Put a bullet hole in them, and they deflate (loss of hot air) and shrivel away to nearly nothing, and by the time you clean 'em up and get the crap out of them, there's nothing left except for a stain smelling faintly of tea. Sounds like an inflatable doll.

Yeah, but they are self inflated.

Thanks to Chris / CopCarSS for my avatar.
Sir C/Tree - why don't you take a little extra time while you are there and fix that....
Tour de Nooooo Yawk coming to a close. Hoping my voice survives after the last session in Long Island today.
Wonder when the last time on that line your milepost was set at its proper location after being knocked down? (or is that milepost one of those concrete/stone monsters?)
mudchicken Congrats salesman Tree!
Congrats salesman Tree!
It was a team effort ($450,000 worth...).
Got a chance to look at our line's valuation maps today. Until I can sit down with a couple of other references, though, I'm more confused than I was before. Especially by that milepost that seems to have moved several hundred yards since 1914...
I noted that one drawing had a legend stating that it had been updated sometime in the 50's. I'm presuming that's why some features that should have appeared aren't there. When I have time...
Joe: Snacks? Count me in!

Deggesty He was lost? If so, I am glad you found him, else he would be missed around here.
He was lost? If so, I am glad you found him, else he would be missed around here.
He's doing a series of lectures across NY state. Met him at the Syracuse presentation. Even learned some stuff.
Also met Boss Hen. Both were headed further east for more presentations and some family time.
The purchase of a new pumper for the fire department was approved tonight. It'll be delivered in about a year...
work was busy.Had a safety meeting about fire hazards and how to PASS at work.(pull aim squeeze and sweep). Also talked about how important it was not to park forklifts near the exits of the building during an emergency. Read on the newswire about an engine that was vandalized on Larry's railroad. Talked to Matt's teacher today as well. She said only a few kids brought in the signed paper. Time to get chores done.
