Snow?  Jiminy!  At least let us get past the Pumpkin Trains before that happens!

Back in Denver after the diagonal tour-de-Indiany (Gary-Indy-Cincy...almost as long as de tour-de-nebrasky) - I think the Trains gang (all 4, Wrinny, Yuhas, Bacha & newgal) fled Tuesday night from Indy.

Tuesday night was dinner and a demolition derby in downtown Indy. (people don't do well with one-way streets unless they are circular? Four car accident with one car upside down on a low speed street)

They are talking about snow tonight? (somebody sitting at home laughing from home Willy?)

SJ, I'm not sure I have heard the term before, either, but I'm guessing it was a "repo" (as UP calls 'em) or "baretable" (as everyone else calls 'em).

We had a big squirrel wash overnite!  Storm  Happy, Happy!

Joe - the after school program sounds very interesting.  I wonder if it has caught on in other places.

And I have to ask - what is a sailboat fuel train?  I am probably going do a head thump when I get the answer.

Duh - sailboat fuel - wind - wind turbine train?  Maybe?  Heard from Houston Ed that they sent 2 of them out of there on UP heading to NE - about a mile long on each.

I need an after school activity - thought organization!

evening

Mookie

Matt's afterschool program has different groups coming in to their school. One week they could learn about being in a play. The next week they learn about nutrition. The following week the could learn a sport like archery or golf. It's fun for the kids and sometimes the parents get to play too. Saw a "mookie" going back west with an empty coal train. Also saw CSX taking a sailboat fuel train westbound in a hurry while running errands.Time to relax now.

Had some errands to run, including picking up a couple of items at the mall, so I ate lunch there, too.

Who sits down at the next table but a non-relative who's related to people I'm related to, and who I know.  (She's the wife of my aunt's (by marriage) brother...)

Turns out she'd been able to save a treasure trove of family pictures from certain destruction.  I was able to identify one person in a group picture (Aunt Edith would be around 120YO if she was still alive), as well as a few that I definitely knew.

I'll be getting my hands on quite a few of them to add to the family geneology (I'll scan them and return the originals).

Pretty cool for a chance meeting.

Got an update on my cousin (her nephew), who is dealing with mouth cancer.  Apparently he's doing as well as can be expected, which is a good thing.

I'm not sure, but box elder bugs may come from Box Elder county, Utah. Smile Every now and then, they come down to Salt Lake county.

Being somewhat interested in "bugs" - I did just read that ladybugs love/eat aphids.  So, BOC, let them clean up your aphids,  (this blob isn't going to come out right no matter how I edit it!)

Boxelder - we have a few here, but not as many as in years past.  Boxelder are just "there" - they serve no real purpose beside food for birdies.  However, they do like houses with large south and west exposures in the fall - since it is warm.  So, either seal your house in Saran Wrap to keep them out, keep doors and windows closed or with super-screens or....

you knew it was coming....

Move to Lincoln!

We will move on to wasps and tomato hornworm in the future....

The ladybugs are back!!

Trade you your ladybugs for my box elder bugs....

There are several sites available with smilies.  I used to use one, but it's closed and I haven't looked for any others.

Mookie

Waited to see if anyone wanted to maintain or rename - no one bit, so will rename - to more reflect what goes on in here.

Fishing early this morning.  Interesting.  With all the runners and bicycles going past it is like fishing in a sports arena.

Warm today and tomorrow (80's) and then Thumbs Down much colder.  We shall see!  Just remember, this all goes east of us....

HI!  Mookie!...

Interesting idea!     Weather Front from up Northwest rolled through during the night. Kinda foggy. Hard to see the T-Con from the screened -in back porch this morning.  Not too much traffic rolling though. Monday and Tuesday it was hectic. I guess they have got all the Wellington Crews scattered out now?

    Have a Great Day!

P.S. Where'd ya get all the cute little 'smilies'  Blownout Cylinder?  Whistling

Regards &

Thought I'd pop in and say hi. Been a while. Been on the porch watching the trains roll by down here in Arkansas today.
Thx IGN

You don't know how I envy you having a porch!

Many years ago, I was traveling with family thru the Ozarks and passed a cabin just off the highway.  We saw a resident sitting on his porch with his feet on the railing watching the world go by.  About 4-5 days later, we were coming back home, passed the same porch and the same man still sitting with his feet on the railing.

Must be the whole budget thing is going to be over by the weekend.  We're supposed to get some weather (rain).

When I was in USAF, I spent some time working on rawinsonde (weather balloons).  On the roll that the temperature and humidity info from the radiosonde (hanging under the balloon) was plotted on, we used a rubber stamp to record basic information about the flight.  One line was titled "Weather," and if there was nothing special going on, the entry was always "None."

Ms Mook - I'm betting Matt is in a program that keeps the kids busy after school.  With moms and dads both working, all too often the youngsters don't have anyone at home when they get out of school.

Gotta remember to put together the FD financial report before the meeting Thursday.  Always something to do...

Really!  I am surprised, since I didn't even think about him being one that could be furloughed.  Wow.  That's too bad.  I hope this situation doesn't continue.  Actually, I scream and holler about it, but it is only for the Driver's ears!  And they are really bent!

We have a pretty much total lack of weather anyway, but Omaha does get some goodies every so often.

Joe - what activity is Matt in after school?  I would pick train watching if I were Matt!  Shy

I like it, SJ!

As for the weather, there may be a total lack of weather due to the government shutdown, so I'm not worried.
Don't believe me?  Ask Willy...he's been furloughed.
