BOC - I was just thinking you might need a mask of some kind getting into old items. Think possible mold along with dust and small dead bodies. Just what your lungs don't need!
Brother Carl - are you certain that the crawl space won't pick up any moisture? Having seen the archives - you will always have to be very careful with water - anywhere. Leave your glass of H20 at the stairs.
Tree - I am so lucky in downsizing. I can honestly say that I have gotten rid of lots and never once had to rebuy or regret. Tells me I had too much of "absolutely no use left or didn't need to begin with".
Too hot to fish - actually too humid to fish. Ditto train watch. Besides - time to rest - make it a 3 day weekend - just because we can.
Did you read Kim and Kanye's new baby name for daughter - "North". Last name "West". Isn't that just too cute - (Gag) (like London Bridge, Paige Turner, - both real people. What are these parents thinking? Or not!)

Hmmm....Economy Rate.......Plunk it in the South Platte at Lincoln....floats downriver to Omaha (hope it makes it through the irrigation diversion/ flood control dams) then ...down the Missouri River to Kansas City to St. Louis, pick-up a towboat down the Mississippi down to Cairo, take a left and go up the Ohio River to Loo-vulle and drop off at the gangplank of The Belle of Louisville at the public landing.
Might take about 4 years; 3 months a week and two days (Give or take)
Hope it can float that long. (or it joins the stuff from the steamboat Arabia in Kansas City)
Mutt - you would love one of them - either one. And like Joe - if you stubbed your toe - insurance rates would go up.
Can't you just imagine the mail carrier's face if they found this in their post office, Mutt division?

Not hot by local standards (and even a bit cool from Mom, who's used to AZ), but humid, with a 30% chance of rain.
Lunch with a bunch of cousins today, then Mom's alumni banquet (graduated 69 years ago) tonight. Outside chance I'll know some folks, but I'm not holding my breath.
Tomorrow it's a day on the train (and brunch at the Big Moose Station Restaurant), followed by a visit to daughter to see how her recovery is progressing. Mom's plane leaves at Oh-dark-thirty Monday morning, so she's spending Sunday night at the airport hotel. It's a lot better than having to hit the road at 3:30 AM to get her there on time.
And there's a 30% chance of thunderbumpers Sunday, too.
At least I got all my bedding plants in this week - I really wouldn't mind a little rain to keep them watered.
First of all, happy birthday to Joe! You (and your sister) share this day with my baby girl (who's turning 30).SJ, the walls and floor are concrete, and should be okay--there is also insulation on the interior of the walls. I would be using plastic containers for anything stored in there, and might, if there appears to be a problem, invest in another dehumidifier, just for that area.Speaking of which, I am sitting directly above said crawl space as I write this! Desk/counter top was installed this past week.

Happy Birthday Joe! And to your "twin" - wow 13 years apart. Guess having a big family helps the odds.
BC - I like the plastic containers idea. And a dehumidifier. With all your paper items, you need to think like a library.
Sharing HHH with rest of country. Summer has arrived as per usual.
Tree - enjoyed having Mom here. She was such a good guest, we never even knew she was here! Best to daughter.
Driver & I are spending the day playing possum. You need one of those every so often. Only way I know he is "in there" is an occasional SNORK. Makes both of us move a little!
Well, isn't this a fine how do you do. For those who may have missed CNN or read it on TRAINS Newswire we are having big time flooding issues in our part of the world. In fact, I have been evacuated from my home and am now staying with the family of the AgentKid's little brother.
CP has big time problems on the mainline west of Calgary, on their line through the Crowsnest Pass and on the line running south of Calgary down to the US border. My brother said as he was out walking his dog he could look down and see CP has parked rail cars on the twin bridges on the west side of the city. There were shoots taken from a news helicopter showing the same thing on other bridges in the area. They had just announced this new faster intermodal service and now nothing is moving.
And it happened so fast. There was no warning of anything bad happening on Wednesday and I was ordered out of my apartment at noon on Friday. I had already been without power since 12:50 AM that morning. We just saw shots of my area on TV and the streets immediately beside my building were dry but there is flooding just a few blocks away to the east, south and west. I could be here for a number of days yet.
I will be checking in periodically

Good Evening!!we had a rumblepuss sit over us most of the afternoon..it finally started to drift off to the east of us'uns...rumblepuss being one of these pop-up thunderstorms that tend to sit for hours just grumbling and making thrashing sounds...Mnaged to actually...HAH!!...get a couple of hours nap and Spring session in air-conditioned comfort here...got to 84F and it actually felt like 106 out!!!!
Bruce - I saw your rain storm results on the national news. Boy, sounds like that came out of nowhere. Hope you can get back in your apartment if not today, by tomorrow.
We don't need 5 inches in an hour, but a good watering would be appreciated.

Joe
Good Morning
Thanks for the breakfast Joe..
Well...today get to go up to 86 feeling like 103...summer is here!!
Tonight is going to be our neighbourhood BBQ...hopefully we do not see rumblepuss show up...
Today I'm heading off to our neighbourhood mall to do some shopping...getting some 'early' Xmas shopping done for niece and nephew...heeheehee
Have a good'un!!!
Good Morning everyone.
The last thing we did before going to bed last night was to check the City of Calgary's website, and we saw that the city has given us the go-ahead to return to our neighbourhood. Now I just have to wait for our Housing Association Manager to look through my building and post their approval on the Association Facebook page. I'm not trendy enough to have a Facebook page so I will get my niece to look for me.
Everyone have a good day and hopefully my next post will be from hone.
Good Sunday afternoon everyone. Sorry I haven't made it in for several days. A lot going on.
Joe, hope you saw/read my Birthday wishes to you on FB! Sounds like you had a great time. And the picture on FB of Matt holding his newest little cousin is absolutely great.
Unfortunately, I have some sad news to deliver to you all: for those of you who may remember Nance69, who would post for her husband, Bob: he passed away 3 weeks ago. Nance had lot my phone #, so couldn't call me to let us know. He had been in pretty bad health for about a year now. Turned 92 on May 11th.
I had been trying to call them for a month now, because I just had a feeling that something wasn't right. Never could get through. Then, yesterday morning, finally made the connection. If anyone wants more details, feel free to email me at my bellsouth.net address.
Everyone have a good afternoon/evening, take care, keep safe and see you all when I can.
Bummer.
Well I am back home.
The only difficulty I encountered was a somewhat appalling smell from my refrigerator and my garbage can. It certainly wasn't the worst example of those smells I had ever encountered, so that was actually a good thing. I have already replaced the groceries I lost.
In CPR news; there is no longer a mainline through Canmore west of Calgary due to erosion of the ROW, no southern line through Blairmore, AB due to a missing bridge (including the abutments), and no ROW due to erosion near Okotoks, AB (EDIT: I had incorrectly said Aldersyde earlier.) on the line south of Calgary.
Some are speculating the erosion at Canmore is Mother Natures revenge for diverting Cougar Creek into a man made channel. Now the creek is flowing down the median dividing the nearby Trans-Canada Highway. Speaking of the TCH, it is going to be closed at 7:00PM tonight at Medicine Hat, AB as the flooding moves there. CP will be affected at the same time.
Glad to be home.
Well, I'm home, too. Unfortunately, I had a run-in with a deer on the way home, less than a mile from the house, that left the driver's door dented. At least I didn't hit the deer straight on, and despite some wind noise from the deformed door, the truck is completely drivable.
Still, it's back to the shop...
PDA -Deer whistles now ?
We had some actual rain last night....Hope the firefighters got it where they needed it to at least slow down the wildfires...thunder and lightning created a pair of clingy dogs. (Velcro1 and Velcro2)
breakfast is all set .More triple H today. Had thunderstorms that caused a power line in Delta to hit a house. House caught on fire and crews couldn't go in and save it. Chores to do and back to work tonight. Packing extra water in my lunchpail.
Good MorningGoing to be warm and sticky here...85F feeling like 103F...yay.Oh goodie....I get to go out in that and start working on that "Lair of Doom" again....I am now thinking about hazmat suits for glow worms for this one. There are things in there... I did hear something last night that sounded a little like something shuffling around in there...
Joe - sending you some more of that weather. It moves slow and really brightens up the radar. Hate to lose a house over rain!
Blown - I lived in an apartment that sounded like that. Also had a mouse in an office where I was working. Didn't hear the mouse, but turned around to get something behind me and on the floor in the corner was a pile of pink bubble gum. That moved! Nice young men came in a disposed of "litter".
Tree - Oh Deer!
MC - Big and Brave when small animals around, but nice to have Big Daddy & Mom during a rainstorm.
Went fishing for 2 hours - dark 30 to still dark 30. Then heard a way off sound! Either the troops are coming with a cannon or that is thunder. Sure enough - we sat outside our closed garage door and gave Millie a good bath! No more birdy "stuff"!
But 3 bass were caught, enjoyed and returned safe and sound before we made a hasty departure!
Too bad about the teenager that made so much noise while we were fishing that I had to hold his head under water.... Now don't get all excited - that was written for the people that know me - I didn't even get close to him. But I could have whacked him on the knee.....easily! Wouldn't even have to get outta mah chair! Accidently stick a pole in his mouf.... oops....
